5. The diagram below shows the graph of a function f(x).
The graph passes through the origin and has a turning point at (1, 2).
Sketch the following graphs, giving the coordinates of the turning point in each
case.
(i) y = f(x + 2)
(ii) y = f(3x)
(iii) y = f(x – 1) + 2
(iv) y = f( x)
(v) y = 2f(x)
(vi) y = f( 12 x 1)
7. Explain how you could use transformations to obtain each of the following graphs
from the graph of y = sin x.
(i) y = 1 + sin(x + 30°)
(ii) y = – 3sin 12 x
