Licensing Options
Workstation License A workstation license is for one person/one machine and is serial-number
based. This is most beneficial for smaller deployments.
Network-Named License Like the workstation license, this is also tied to an individual. Licenses are
managed over a network with a centralized license management console.
Its advantages include centralized administration, fast and easy
provisioning and de-provisioning of software assets, and asset
management features including usage reports.
Concurrent License This is a shared license that is not assigned to individuals. It is also
managed over a network using the license server. This provides multiple
users with the flexibility of using ER/Studio, when a license is available for
use on the network. This is a good option for those who will not need to
be in the application at all times. We generally recommend one
concurrent license for every 2-3 people, depending upon usage patterns.
Platform Options
Single Platform All ER/Studio licenses can be purchased as Single Platform (i.e. it will work
only with one supported database platform). The SP licenses also include
the ODBC drivers to access non-native data sources. One specific platform
must be selected from this list:
• IBM DB2 • Sybase ASE
• Teradata • Amazon Redshift
• Snowflake • Oracle
• Microsoft SQL Server • Microsoft Azure SQL Database
• Postgres • Microsoft SQL Server on Azure VM
Only the "core" platforms that support full compare and merge (with change
scripts) are available as single platform options.
Multi-Platform Multi-platform licenses will work with all supported database platforms.
When you are working with more than one database platform, select the
Multi-Platform option.
License fees are a one-time expense, while recurring maintenance fees are charged annually.
Customers current on maintenance are entitled to new releases and technical support.
