SUBJECT: School-Based Science Month Celebration

1. For the school year 2022-2023, Simimbaan Integrated School will conduct its School-
based Science Month Celebration with the theme “Reinventing The Future: Advancing
Communities Through Science Technology and Innovations”. The different contested
activities and program will be conducted on September 28-29 2022 at the school’s
gymnasium

2. Contested activities such as Slogan Making, Poster Making, Quiz Bee will be
conducted on separate schedules. A maximum of three (3) participants from all grade
level of junior and senior high school is allowed to join in each contested activity.

3. September 29, 2022, Thursday, is hereby declared as shortened period on all grade levels of
junior and senior high school to give time for the School-based Science Month Celebration
Program in the afternoon.

4. Attached is the program and schedule of activities, mechanics and criteria for the
contested activities, and the class schedule for shortened period.

MECHANICS AND CRITERIA FOR THE SLOGAN MAKING CONTEST

This Slogan Making Contest is part of the School-Based Science Month Celebration. It
will be held on September 28, 2022, 8:30 am – 10:30 am at the school’s gymnasium.

A. Mechanics
1. A maximum of three (3) participants per grade level from grade 7 to grade 12 is
allowed to participate in the contest.

2. Each participant should submit ONE entry only.

3. The slogan must be in connection with or emphasize the theme.

4. The slogan must be written in English with a minimum of ten (10) and
maximum of fifteen (15) words

5.All output must be done on the spot and must be completed within the allotted
time of two (2) hours.

6.The slogan must be done in free hand using the following materials (to be
provided by contestant):
1/2 size white cartolina
Pencils or any other preferred writing material
Oil pastel or any other preferred coloring material
Markers or highlighters

7.The theme for the slogan making contest shall be “Reinventing The Future:
Advancing Communities Through Science Technology and Innovations”.

8.No personal or identifying marks will be allowed to appear in the outputs.

Numbers will be given for the identification of the contestants.

9.All entries shall be judged by a Board of Judges.

MECHANICS AND CRITERIA FOR THE POSTER MAKING CONTEST

This Poster Making Contest is part of the School-Based Science Month Celebration. It
will be held on September 28, 2022, 01:30 pm – 03:30 pm at the school’s gymnasium.

A. Mechanics
1. A maximum of three (3) participants per grade level from grade 7 to grade 12 is
allowed to participate in the contest.

2. Each participant should submit ONE entry only.

3. The poster must illustrate, interpret and emphasize the theme.

4.All artwork must be done on the spot and must be completed within the allotted
time of two (2) hours.

5.The poster must be done in free hand using the following materials (to be
provided by contestant):
1/2 size white cartolina
Pencils or any other preferred drawing material
Oil pastel or any other preferred coloring material
Markers or highlighters

MECHANICS AND GUIDELINES FOR THE SCIENCE QUIZ BEE

This Science Quiz Bee Contest is part of the School-Based Science Month Celebration. It
will be held on September 29, 2022, 08:30 am – 10:30 am at the school’s gymnasium.

A. Participants
1. The contest is open to any bona fide junior high school and senior high school
students of Simimbaan Integrated School.

2. The quiz bee is individual in nature.

B. Scope and Coverage

1. The quiz bee shall cover general questions on biology, chemistry, earth science,
physics and science and technology.

2. The quiz bee shall have three (3) categories; ten (10) questions for easy
category, ten (10) questions for average and five (5) questions for difficult.

3. An easy question is worth one (1) point, an average question is worth three (3)
points and a difficult question is worth five (5) points.

3. In case of a tie, a clincher question will be given.

C. Quiz Bee Proper

1. Cellular or mobile phones are not allowed during the competition.

2. The Quiz Master shall read the question twice while the question itself will be
flashed on a screen for the contestants to see. The contestants then will have ten
(10) seconds to answer the questions.

3. All answers must be written on the boards provided for each contestant. It shall
be raised when the quiz master gives the signal that the time is up. Failure to do
so will signal a warning for the first offense and disqualification for the second.

4. Any question or query to the correctness of the answers should be raised before
the start of the next question.

5. The group who gets the highest number of points is automatically declared the
champion or the runner-up as the case may be.

MECHANICS AND CRITERIA FOR THE SIYENSIKULA VIDEO

A. Mechanics
1. This contest is exclusive for students of grade 9, 10, 11 and 12 only.

2. The participants must discuss a topic under science and technology in a clear,
creative and engaging manner through a video presentation that is not more than 4
minutes. The participants can discuss the topic in English and/or Filipino.

3. All contents in the video must be original and are owned by the participants.
Entries may include personal experiences and thoughtful observations. Video
must reflect that the student has carefully examined and thought through the topic.

4. All creative visual tools such as animations, simulations, physical

demonstrations, or visual aids are allowed. Entries with videos which are
derivative works will automatically be disqualified.

5. Each section/participant may send a maximum of two (2) entries.

6. Only MP4 and mkv. video format is allowed.

7. All entries must be submitted to Mr. Sadiri R. Laborte III on September 29,
2022 on or before 12:00 noon. Failure to submit on or before the deadline means
disqualification of the entry.

8. The entry with the highest score by the judges shall be declared as Champion.
