Unlock the Lack of Study Habits;A Descriptive Study
PORAC MODEL COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOL – SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT
Introduction:
-Chinese Proverb
It is ok to become a slow learner because being a slow learner it does not define
the people life and success. If the learner does not make a move to become successful,
even if he/she is a fast learner it does not make sense.
Lots of youth now a day is using gadgets that’s why they don’t priorities their
education, because they’re enjoying playing mobile games in their own phone
There are many problem in study encountered problems is lack of study habits.
Lack of study habits, is when the students performance is poor in school. In many
cases, students don’t know where to begin, don’t fully understand the material, are not
motivated to study, or feel that there was too much work given to them with too little
time accomplish or study it. If the studying skills do not improve, student will continue to
have a poor performance in school.
The study habits and skills are important to the one who is still studying.
Especially to the lazy student that do not exert effort on their academic learnings. To
improve the lack of study habits, student should prepare for the lessons especially to the
examination (Adogbeji, 2007).

In this study, the researcher wants to know the causes of lack of study habits
among student. What is the strategy they need student can do to improve their lack of
study habits.
Study habit is a bad attitude for the students. It lacks on effort to give their full
attention on lessons. Students who have this attitude need to ask for help and to help
themselves to take away that habits (Mendezabal, 2013).
Fortunately, the study will give the studies ideas on how to improve their lack of
study habits.
In our generation now a days, a lot of teens are lazy in terms of studying.
Because, if the teacher decided that you need to pass the project in right time or deadline
but you failed to do what the teacher want to do, that’s why the student scared or lazy to
come in school. This study aims to solve the problem of every student and help them to
overcome the laziness in studying.
Base to Medezabal, (2013) Study habits and attitude is lack of planning and
concentration in their studies, poor skills in reading ineffective test taking technique and
failure to inform their teacher of their difficulties with school. Work and ask for help.
There was a time that your concentration in study was getting missed because of the
tardiness in study. According to Ogbodo, (2010) the problem is most of students have
that contributes to their poor performance in tests and examination is lack of proper study
habits, that’s why their getting low grades. Some problem of the student is the enough
time in study, they cannot manage the level of effort in study habits and some of the
student is getting lazy (Yu, 2011). Study habits means to be learned or to investigated and
the tendency of pupils or student to study and base on them student can’t use effective
study skills, until they are not having good habits (Bajwa, Ghazal & Ramzan, 2011).
on him there’s a four attempt to identify student in higher education basis first
motivation, study methods, examination technique and last lack of distractions toward
academic work. Base to Kuhn, (1988) A lack of study habits if their academic, because of
some problems that experience of a person. According to Keller & Kim, (2007) this study
investigated kind of supportive information can be effective in improving the situation
where there were severe motivational challenges. Various aspects of study habits
including homework and assignments, time allocation, reading and note taking, study
period procedures and consolation of student to the teacher (Onoyele, 2012).
Base to Larson, (2014) the study sought to assess the reading habits among student and
their effect on their academic performance. The study confirmed that reading habits has
influence on academic performance and there is a relationship between reading habit and
academic performance. According to Nixon & Frost, (1990) the success of one person to
see the study hard in their school are the reading behavior and not taking technique.
Defined by Adogbeji, (2007) study habits and skill are particularly important for
postgraduate students, who needs include time management, note taking, internet skills,
the elimination of distraction, and assignment a high priority to study. Student where
study including personal knowledge skills and examination preparation to improve the
lack of study habits. Defined by Mendezabal, (2013) the participant were graduates in
school year 2009-2010 from the different programs of the university which require
licensure examination.

they need to do a research.
Researchers choose some of respondents in senior high school students to determine the
factors of lack of study habits performance of Porac Model Community High School.
Student were focused of this research. The information will be gathered using the

METHODOLOGY
This part discussed the research methodology used in the study, which includes
the research design, participants and locale of the study, instrument of the study,
procedure followed and treatment of data used to widen the study.

Technology (ICT-A and B), The researcher will get 2 participants per section because
some of participants and the total of the participants are 12 students in Porac Model
Community High School.
The researchers use unstructured data because the qualitative research is open
ended survey that every participant can share their own opinion about the study. This
interview guide will consist of 3 questions. The answer will use thru voice record or
written on a paper.
The researcher will use one type of non-probability sampling, specifically, it was
a purposive sampling technique, a purposive sampling is a non-probability sample that is
selected based on the characteristic of a population and the objective of the study.
