1. Why do you think people stay in harsh work environment? (10mks)


i. Fear of losing jobs.
ii. Lack of enough information on what they are supposed to do.
iii. Poverty forces people to work on a harsh environment so they put food in their tables
iv. Culture where people think that things have been done that way all along and its normal
to work in such environment
v. Some jobs pay some good salaries hence one cannot quit the job
vi. Lack enough job opportunities.
Why do you think work place unethical behavior has been difficult to address? Give practical
examples.
 Corruption such that even when there are some cases reported, the bosses always bribe
out. For example, when a boss bribes the police to drop a case raised against him.
 Failure of the legal system where there is back of the cases meaning it can even take like
5 – 10 years before the case is handled.
 People fear getting fired hence they don’t report such cases. Eg. When a person is
sexually harassed by the boss he/she may fail to report in fear of losing his job.
 Poverty for example, because of poverty one may steal some money from his boss to
cater for his family.

2. During an interview for a highly desirable job, a recruiter turns his or her laptop
computer toward you and asks you to log into your social media sites. What would
you do?
Discuss the implication of this to your chance of getting the job. (10mks)
I will not log in Why? Because people need some privacy and also there is no way
personal social media accounts can be related to a certain job.

i. You may fail to get the job because the person wants to judge you according to your
social media accounts.
ii. They also want to judge your according to your conversations on social media which
they may get it wrong hence you fail to get the job.
iii. They may also get it wrong because people live a different life on social media where
they may not employ you.
iv. If you fail to log in they may fail to give you the because they may think its some sort of
disobedience.
v. Its not easy to know if the person has the required skills through looking at their social
media accounts.

3. Discuss any five ethical issues that one is likely to encounter in higher learning
institution. (10mks)

i. Exam cheating – you find students cheating in exams so that they can pass.
ii. Some students selling products that are not fit or are worst to their fellow students
so that they can gain profit.
iii. Corruption- Students bribing their lecture so that they can be awarded good marks
in their exams.
iv. Lectures seducing university/college students which may be ethically wrong
v. Theft a student trying to steal school property or stealing from other students
vi. Girls/boys going for night parties instead of staying in their hostels and read.
