4.0MATERIAL:
A) Bricks:
Fly ash bricks shall be confirms to standard specification, regular in shape
and size with sharp edges and corners. Frog of the brick shall not be less
than 1cm and greater than 2cm. It should give clear metallic ringing sound
and water absorption shall not more than 20% by weight.

B) Cement:
Shall be used 43 grade Ordinary Portland cement as per standards.
Cement shall be fresh & free from lumps etc. It shall be stored as per
guidelines & shall not be store more than 90 days from manufacturing &
shall be consumed on FIFO basis.
C) Sand:
Sand for masonry mortar shall be natural sand , VSI sand (passing on 150
mc should not more than 15%) combination of any of these conform to
IS:2116-1980. Sand shall be hard durable, medium coarse sand, clean
sharp and free from clay.
D) Water:
Water used for brick work should be clean and free from injurious amount
of deleterious materials. Potable water shall be used for masonry work.
E) Scaffolding:
1. Scaffolding shall be made by cup lock scaffold pipes.

Travel, spanner, hammer, measuring jar, pan, Right angle, line dori and
level guide etc.
4.2.5 For walls two brick thick and over the joints shall be grouted at every course
in addition to bedding and flushing with mortar.
4.2.6 Bricks shall be laid with frog up however when the top course is exposed,
brick shall be laid with frog down and care shall be taken to fill the frogs with
mortar before embedding the bricks in position.
4.2.7 provision of 100 mm thick RCC stiffeners of grade M20 concrete after every
one meter course, consisting of 2 Nos 8 mm dia bars & links at 300 c/c.
4.2.8 During construction of ledge wall application of approved brand hack aid to
be done on the RCC surface as per TDS.
4.2.9 After application of hack aid when surface become tacky, apply a chat/dash
coat of cement mortar.
4.2: Bond
4.2.1 All brickwork shall be built in Flemish Bond with frog upward.
4.3.1 Where no pointing, plastering or other finish is indicated the green mortar
shall be

4.4 Cleaning:
4.4.1 Face of brickwork shall be cleaned on the same day it is laid and all mortar
dropping removed.

4.5.1 All fresh brick work shall be protected from the effects of sun, rain, etc, by
