With recent developments in the world, we have witnessed new attributes among teenaged children,

such as self-reliance and independence. These qualities are mirrored in their desire to do part-time jobs
during their study years, and this issue has been a cause of extensive debates. While some people
endorse the view that working can interfere with the teenager's academic performance, I strongly
hold that this practice benefits students in three obvious ways.

First and foremost, doing a part-time job can help students deal with their financial issues. It is no
deny that the students face a lot of expenses, such as accommodation and tuition, and they need to
have a lot of money to cover them. There may be some students who come from rich families and,
hence, do not have any monetary concerns as their parents take care all of the expenses during their
children’s university studies. Nevertheless, there are a lot of young people who cannot rely on their
parents for financial support and need to earn money to afford a university education. For instance, my
cousin was studying abroad, but his parents were not rich enough to assist him financially.
Consequently, he was working part-time to deal with his own expenses and was able to successfully
reduce his financial burden.

Furthermore, a part-time job enables the students to get experience early on. You can choose a job
which is relevant to your major and gain insight into the practical side of your profession. It should be
emphasized that the universities mainly concentrate on providing a theoretical framework of a given
major to their students. When the graduates embark on their first job, they realize that they lack the
experience and the practical knowledge to deal with their job effectively. Thus, they can face serious
troubles in the workplace and even jeopardize losing their jobs. Conversely, when students do a part-
time job while studying, they gain both theoretical and practical skills. This is an obvious advantage since
many employers look for job candidates with work experience. Therefore, students with part-time jobs
stand a better chance of employment after graduation.

Last, but not least; a part-time job during university years will help students reach maturation faster.
During the work, young people can socialize with different fellow workers and develop important
communication skills. Since the workplace consists of people with different characters, students start to
recognize diverse people with unique traits and learn how to deal effectively with each of them.
Additionally, any workplace has a variety of rules and regulations that the young people should adhere
to, e.g. arriving at work on time, meeting deadlines, respecting the hierarchy of the working
environment, etc. As a result, they enhance their organizational skills, which is an important attribute in
today’s world with fast developments. Those young people who lack any work experience before
entering a job will, inevitably, encounter problems while interacting with colleagues as well as will not
be prepared to obey fixed rules.

In conclusion, it is my firm belief that working during the university years puts the teenagers at an
advantageous edge over those who choose to study only since they reduce the financial burden, gain
work-related skills quite early and develop important skills which will help them in future. Therefore,
young people should grasp the chance of working part-time if they are certain that it will not have a
negative impact on their studies.
