Christmas Keyboard Course – Adding the left hand

The left hand uses a different clef – the BASS CLEF. The notes are named differently.

JINGLE BELLS
The tune is split between the left and right hands.
WE THREE KINGS
Practise the left hand first, then add the right hand.
Adding Chords

Add the chords to this melody. Choose from the chords C F and G.
Look at the notenames for each bar, and choose the chord which matches the most notes.
e.g bar 1 to 2 has only E. E appears in the chord of C, so use that chord. Use a new chord for
each box. Listen to make sure your chord choice sounds right.

JINGLE BELLS

SILENT NIGHT
Now try to add the chords for Silent Night. Choose from C F and G again.

Chord notes Inversions – this is where you play the nearest notes when you
C=CEG change chords, so you don’t have to move your hand around so
F=FAC much.
G=GBD C=CEG F=CFA G=DGB
JINGLE BELLS
Remember to use all the fingers of your RIGHT hand. Start with your 3rd finger

RUDOLF THE RED-NOSED REINDEER

Again, use all the fingers of your RIGHT hand. Start with your 2nd finger.
