Module 2 Activity
1. Have yo u i interacted wit h people w ho have a different culture fro m yours? How was yo u r
interaction w it h t he m? Was it c lea r? Was it productive? Was it respectful? W hat co u ld yo u have
done fo r a better interaction?
-I have been interacted with a lot of different people worldwide just like japanese. Did you
know that Japanese people are often shinto and buddhist? And did you also know that when it
comes to food, the japanese are among the enthusiastic and passionate of any race? When you
ask any Japanese person about a recent trip within Japan and the conversation almost always
includes talk of the local food. In fact, for many Japanese travelling outside of their hometowns,
food is often one of the primary motivators for travelling. I have known this thing because of
some dating app I used online. I have interacted some japanese people there and ask them about
their culture sometimes. It's keeps me learning and got some point especially when I travel
abroad. Most of them are respectful just know that you also need to be respected to. For me, it is
really good talking with them. The only thing I did is to translate their language into my own
language for me to understand them or when I send them the message, I just simply translate my
words into a japanese language. Maybe for some, they just need to be humble and kind online
when communicating the foreign people even our own blood.
2. Consider regional discrimination in the Philippines: If a woman speaks Cebuano or bisaya in Manila,
she is often assumed to be a maid or yaya. If a man speaks Tagalog with a heavy, provincial accent, he
is often assumed to be a laborer, driver or involved in some form of manual or servile labor. What are
your own discriminatory practices?
-This is the reality that we seen or observed here in the Philippines. We can not avoid
discrimination even our own country can do it. Maybe the disciminatory practices that these have
are inlined with language discrimination.
3. From among the many strategies provided on acknowledging cultural diversity or multiculturalism in
education, identify some which you think could be implemented in Philippine schools. You may also
provide specific suggestions on how to effectively carry out these strategies.
-The strategy that I only think to be implemented in fhe Philippines when it comes to
acknowledging cultural diversity or multiculturalism in education, is you have to maintain
consistent communication to your students and co-teachers. It shows connection for us to know
each other and learn from our everyday living.
4. Why should you as an individual respect and value people who are different from you?
-In order for us to be respected, we also need to respect others. Why should we? It's a
thing that we all need. For example, in a classroom, I have a classmate that have problem with his
one eye and yet we are still respecting him for whatever he do in school. We all need to be
respected. It may result to conflict when you do not respect your peers, and everyone in this
whole wide-world.
