PRE-LESSON (10 minutes)
a. Pupils’ prior knowledge is activated in this lesson by asking them to elicit responses using either the
present simple or present continuous
b. Pupils review why the present simple or present continuous is used by stating the different uses of present
simple and present continuous
c. Pupils discuss in pairs if they remember what stative verbs are and give examples. Pupils share their
answers with the class
LESSON DEVELOPMENT (40 minutes)
d. Pupils revise quickly the uses of the present simple, the present continuous and stative verbs
e. Pupils complete Activity 2 and 3 in pairs and then discuss answers in groups before sharing answers as a
class
f. Pupils complete Activity 4 individually. Pupils share answers as a class
g. Pupils move on to relative clauses activities on p11
h. Pupils revise relative clauses and relative pronouns by studying and identifying the relative pronoun in the
sentence written on the board – The woman who lives next door is a teacher (Answer: who)
i. Pupils provide other examples of relative pronouns (Answers: which, that, whose, etc)
j. Pupils answer questions posed by teacher (refer to Teacher’s Book p13 Activity 1)
k. Pupils complete Activity 2 in pairs/groups, then check answers as a class
l. Pupils complete Activity 3 individually
POST-LESSON (10 minutes)
m. Pupils review their learning in this lesson by working in pairs and making their own sentences using
relative clauses listed on the board. Pupils share their sentences to the whole class

1. Pupils read through questions in Activity A and discuss as a class
LESSON DEVELOPMENT (20 minutes)
2. Pupils read the instruction in Activity B and explain how they would complete the task – read for main ideas
3. Pupils show an example in completing the task with Text A. Pupils listen to teacher if they do not know how
to do it.
4. Pupils complete Activity B in groups of 4 or 5 and write their answers in a mini white board.
5. Pupils share the answers and discuss how they got the answer.
6. Pupils read through questions 1 to 7 in Activity D. Pupils ask any questions they have about the questions
7. Pupils answers the questions in groups by identifying the words used in Texts A – D that helped them get
