B. Motivation
The teacher presents a picture of the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson. After presenting
the picture, the teacher will then let the students guess who he is and cite out examples
of the songs he performed. The teacher will then ask a few questions.

Questions:
 Remember him? He was the one who popularized the Moonwalk Dance, right?
 Is it true that he was dubbed as the King of Pop? He was a singer, right?
 Can you name a few of the songs that he performed and popularized?
After the presentation of the pictures, the teacher will then prepare an audio speaker for
the students to hear a song from the singer. The song is entitled, “Heal the World” by
Michael Jackson. After listening to the song, the teacher will then ask questions.
Directions: Listen to the song “Heal the World” and ponder on the message it conveys by
answering the questions that follow. A sheet of the lyrics will be provided by the teacher
for you to be guided as you listen along to the song.
Questions:
 What is the message of the song?
 What does the composer of the song want us to do?
C. Presentation of the Topic

The teacher introduces the topic to the students through the use of the song presented
from the short motivational activity.
Motive Question:
 Based on the short activity, what do you think is our topic for today?
 Why do you think that we need to make a stand on what we feel?
 How important it is to make a stand on certain critical issues?
 In the Filipino terms, gaano ba ka-importante ang maninindigan?
D. Discussion
How to Make Your Stand on Critical Issues
Paano ka maninindigan sa mga bagay na alam mo na ito ay tama?
The teacher shares important details about the topic to the students through the use of
the prepared printed hand-outs or supplementary materials. This is to give additional
insights to the students for better understanding.

 Back it up with the Data
 Create a Compelling Narrative
The teacher will let the students share their knowledge of what they know about making a
stand and uses praises for student encouragement. The teacher will also point out some
Filipino-Mother Tongue terms and topics taken from the integrated subject for better
understanding and learning insights.
After discussing on how to make a stand, the teacher will then insert a related topic. The
topic will be about the Argumentative Essay and Techniques in Argumentation.

To fully understand the topic, the teacher presents three (3) sets of individualized
activities for varied learning strategies. The students will be divided into groups, yet the
activities will be individualized for safety and precautionary measures.
 Activity for the Group 1: Feel Me!

This activity will be assigned to the reading/writing learners.
Directions: Study the sample speech then answer the questions that follow.
Questions:
 What issue is being raised in the speech?
 What is your stand in the issue presented?
 Activity for the Group 2: Stand Up for Good!
This activity will be assigned to the visual learners.
Directions: Study the picture below and answer the questions that follow.
Questions:
 What is your stand regarding the issue presented in the picture?
 What helped you decide in making your stand?
 Activity for the Group 3: Evaluate Me!
This activity will be assigned to the auditory learners.
Directions: Pick out the issue presented on the lines taken from a particular song. Give
your stand and explain why you say so.
The teacher will give the students time to answer the following activities that they are
assigned to and will also facilitate the learning of the students through the set of
individualized activities. After answering, the teacher will call out a few volunteers from
each group to share their answers and insights to the class. The use of praises will also
follow for student encouragement.
E. Generalization
After the activities, the teacher will ask a few questions to the students.
Directions: Analyze the picture below.

F. Application
The teacher gives another activity for the students to apply what they have learned
throughout the discussion and activities that were given to them.
Directions: Write a persuasive text on the subject “Allow Smoking in all Public Places”.
You will be guided with the rubrics below.
A persuasive paragraph states and supports an opinion or a stand. It contains an

introduction followed by reasons and a conclusion.
The teacher will present the rubrics or scoring guide to the students to assert fairness in
rating their writing. The students will be given 15 minutes to do the activity.

The teacher asks students to answer the assessment.
