1. Lyceum of the Philippines University – Cavite
Campus CHAPTER III METHODOLOGY This chapter
presents a description of the research design selection
and description of respondents, research instruments,
data collection procedure and statistical treatments
used. 3.1 Research Design In order to see the general
picture of the impact of social networking sites as
information dissemination tool of government
agencies as perceived by the second year Foreign
Service students of Lyceum of the Philippines
University Cavite Campus, the descriptive correlational
survey method was used. As a descriptive study, it
collected detailed and factual information to describe
existing phenomena. It systematically described the
situation or area of interest factually and accurately. It
allowed the researchers to carefully describe and
understand the behaviour. This study was correlational
for it demanded the degree to which the variables were
related to each other using various statistical
instruments. 3.2 Variables and Measures The table
below showed the variables and measures used in the
study. Variables Measures 1. Role of Social Networking

Random Sampling in determining the samples of the
study. All second year Foreign Service students in the
Lyceum of the Philippines University Cavite Campus
were the respondents of this study. 3.4 Research
Respondents The researchers considered the second
year Foreign Service students of the Lyceum of the
Philippines University Cavite Campus comprising of 82
members, male and female. They were the chosen
respondents because their course has to do with
government service. Moreover, their generation is

Campus more dependent on technology than the way
people used to before. In addition to this, Social
Networking Sites for them is not only a way of
communication and socialization but also a good way
of searching information. 3.5 Research Instrument A
questionnaire was used in gathering data. The
questionnaire has 3 parts. The questionnaire consisted
of items that determined the impact of social
networking sites as information dissemination tool of
government agencies. 3.6 Research Locale The study
was conducted at the Lyceum of the Philippines
University Cavite Campus since the chosen
respondents are students of the University, 3.7 Data
Gathering Procedure The researchers personally
administered the research instruments to the
respondents. They conferred and discussed the
significance of the study and accomplished the
distribution of the instruments properly. The
respondents were given 15 minutes to accomplish the
forms to prevent them from giving hasty responses.
The researchers went from one section to another on
collecting the accomplished questionnaires. A!er the
questionnaires have been accomplished, the results
were tallied and tabulated. These data became the
bases of analysis and interpretation. College of Arts and
Sciences Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service
4. Lyceum of the Philippines University – Cavite
Campus 3.8 Data Analysis In determining the impact of
social networking sites as information dissemination
tool of government agencies as perceived by the
second year Foreign Service students, the Likert Scale
has been used. It used a five-point scale; each point
corresponding to a Likert item. Point Scale Verbal
Interpretation 5 4.2 – 5 Strongly Agree 4 3.4 – 4.19 Agree
3 2.6 – 3.9 neither agree nor disagree 2 1.8 – 2.59
Disagree 1 1.0 – 1.79 Strongly Disagree Formula: Ʃ WX

respondents per weight N = total number of
