Michael James Torres BSIT 2-A

I.
A. Recall the details about the kernel components of a Windows operating system
(OS). Based on the figure below, select three (3) kernel components that you think
are the most significant in terms of process control.
1. Power manager
2. Plug and Play manager
3. I / O manager
B. Give one (1) sample process that can be executed by each kernel component
you have selected. Explain each sample process relative to its corresponding
process control structure. Perform additional research if necessary.
1. Device and file system drivers
- This is a Windows executive component that runs in kernel mode and acts as
the software's interface to the hardware. By offering the same interface to the
system, the hardware abstraction layer (HAL) tries to produce a variety of
hardware architecture from the operating system.
II. Select a computing device or a gadget (i.e., smartphone, tablet, and laptop) that
you currently have access to. Then, answer the following items:
a. What is the operating system of the device?
ANDROID 12 –
b. What is the total memory capacity (RAM) of the device?
- 6GB RAM
c. What is the available or remaining memory capacity (RAM) of the device?
-4GB
d. Enumerate five (5) running application processes in the device. Select
applications that consume high memory utilization. Indicate the memory allocation
for each process.
1. Facebook (865MB)
2. Facebook Messenger (455MB)
3. Instagram (709 MB)
4. TikTok (1.39GB)
5. Mobile Legends (6.44GB)

e. Enumerate five (5) running background processes or system processes in the

device. Select processes that consume high memory utilization. Indicate the
memory allocation for each process.
1, Facebook (210MB)
2. Facebook Messenger (98MB)
3. Instagram (10SMB)
4. YouTube (215MB)
5. Google (301MB)

£ Which has higher memory utilization in your device, the background/system

processes, or the application processes? Briefly explain the condition of processes
in your device to support your answer.

- For me, the application processes because they consume a lot more RAM on
my device than the system background activities do.

g. Give three (3) possible ways to connect your device to other devices. Describe
each in one (1) sentence. (3 items x 3 points)
- You first need to plug a USB cable into both your computer and your phone so
that it can connect (USB ports). The second way is Bluetooth, which enables
connections with non-corded devices. Wi-Fi can also be used by other devices to
connect to our internet device

H. Does the process of connecting your device to other devices create new
processes? Why or why not?
- For me yes because when our devices are connected only together, they can
communicate with each other. Data can be transferred to another device.
I. What are the possible effects of ending (force stop) multiple processes in your
device? Elaborate on your answer.

~- Most of the other people they are known of will close the app instantly when
we force stop it. However, some of the programs can still run and be active while
running in the background. All backgrounds and foreground processes related with
that specific app will be terminated by the force stop.

J. Describe the functionality of your device in the less-privileged mode.

- I can say that the functionality of the less privileged mode on my device is less
powerful than others because even the performance is not satisfied especially if it
is used as a high application and because of the low processor that results frame
drops. But it still workable and available but not for strong applications.

k. Identify at least two (2) ways on how you can terminate processes in your
device and briefly describe each. - All I can do to terminate my device is restarting the phone and
erasing other
data applications.
