SUBTASK 12-13-79-610-062-A
A. Check of the oil level
WARNING: USE PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT. USE THE ENGINE OIL IN A WELL-
VENTILATED AREA. ENGINE OIL IS TOXIC.
(1) Check the oil level on the sight gage (4).
NOTE: - Oil level must be checked not less than 5 minutes and not more than 60 minutes after
the engine shutdown while the oil in the oil tank (1) is still warm. This will prevent the
over-servicing of the engine.
- Oil should be added not less than five minutes after engine shutdown.
- If the oil in the oil tank (1) is cool or cold, the oil density will increase (the volume
decreases) and the oil tank (1) can be over-serviced.
- If the oil tank (1) is over-serviced, the extra oil may be blown overboard through the
engine vent system.
- The quantity of oil can cause incorrect calculations for the consumption rate.
- It is highly recommended to do oil servicing always in the same thermal condition
(within one hour after shutdown) to ensure a smooth oil consumption calculation.
(2) If the oil level is above the MAX level on the sight gage (4), read the Class 3 report and check for
concurrent fault message ENGXD-0284 ENG OIL LEVEL - HIGH and do the following
troubleshooting: Ref. TSM 79-31-00-810-825.
NOTE: Unusual repeated servicing (especially during a period without operation) may indicate
an abnormal situation on oil system circuit suggesting internal or external leakage and
may lead to large over-servicing.
NOTE: The MAX mark on the oil tank (1) is corresponding to 21.2 quarts of oil in the tank and
a cockpit indication of 17 or 17.5 quarts.

B. Replenishing of the Oil Tank
WARNING: USE PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT. USE THE ENGINE OIL IN A WELL-
VENTILATED AREA. ENGINE OIL IS TOXIC.
CAUTION: DO NOT FILL THE OIL TANK TO THE MAX LEVEL AFTER DRY OR WET
MOTORING. IF YOU DO, OVERSERVICING CAN OCCUR. LARGE AND FREQUENT
OVERSERVICING CAN CAUSE THE OIL TEMPERATURE TO INCREASE AND
DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE CAN OCCUR.
(1) If oil servicing is necessary, do the steps that follow:
(a) Do a check of the oil level on the oil tank sight glass (4).
(b) If the oil level is below the full mark, add the engine oil (Material Ref. CP2442) as follows:
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT YOU DO NOT SMELL FUEL FUMES WHEN
YOU OPEN THE OIL FILLER CAP. FUEL IN THE OIL CAN CAUSE
DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
d Do a check for fuel in the oil. If you smell fuel in the oil or you suspect that the
oil can be contaminated by fuel, check for presence of fuel in oil Ref. AMM
TASK 12-13-79-610-809.
2 Replenish the oil tank (1) with the engine oil (Material Ref. CP2442) through the oil
tank filler gravity port (5).
a Use a FUNNEL to fill the oil tank.
b At full mark if the time after engine shutdown is between five minutes and not
more than 60 minutes.
c At 3QT below the full mark if the time after engine shutdown is more than 60
minutes.
3 Closing of the oil tank filler cap (2).
a Turn the oil tank filler cap handle (3) down, the pin will extend.
b Make sure that the oil tank filler cap (2) is tightly closed and locked.
