REGULATION
Art. 1 – The 14th International Opera Singing Competition "Homage to Maria Callas - City of Brescia" is open
to young Italian or foreign opera singers who are under 35 years of age at the deadline for entries. The deadline for
entries is January 6, 2023.
Art. 2 - Singers who have or have had teaching relationships with one or more jurors cannot participate.
PRESELECTION TEST
Art. 3 - The competition includes 3 On-Line tests (Pre-selection; Final I; Final II).
PRESELECTION TEST: Applications, evaluated by special committee appointed at the end of registration, must be
accompanied by the following documents:
1) Registration form
2) Grant contribution, net of postage, and non-refundable contribution of €25
3) LINK YOUTUBE with 1 opera aria of free choice. VIDEOs already used for concerts, competitions or
newly recorded VIDEOs are allowed at the candidates' choice.
FINAL PHASE
Art. 4 - FINAL PHASE I

Eligible singers, in order to confirm their position as Finalist, will have to send a second receipt of the payment of 69
€ within 4 days after the announcement of the result. All those admitted to Final I will receive a Finalist diploma.
Singers officially admitted to the Final I must send, by February 6, 2023 a YOUTUBE link with a recording of 1 opera
aria, different from the one submitted in the pre-selection phase. It is possible to use videos already recorded for
other competitions or events or to record one specifically for the competition.
Art. 5 - FINAL PHASE II

Candidates admitted to Final Stage II must submit by March 8, 2023 an opera aria specially recorded for the
competition, not submitted in the pre-selection rounds. Candidates will have 20 days to prepare the video.
PRIZE
At the end of the rehearsal listening, the following prizes will be awarded:
1st PRIZE "tribute to Callas" awarded to all contestants who score between 95 and 100/100.
2nd PRIZE "tribute to Callas" awarded to all contestants who obtain a score between 90 and 94/100.
3rd PRIZE "tribute to Callas" awarded to all contestants who will obtain a score between 85 and 89/100.
SPECIAL PRIZE "tribute to Callas" awarded to contestants who will obtain a score between 80 and 84/100.
All those admitted to Final II who are not awarded prizes will receive a DIPLOMA OF MERIT.
All those admitted to Final I who are not awarded prizes will receive a DIPLOMA OF FINALIST.
Scores below 80/100 will not be announced.
The committee's judgment is final and irrevocable.

3 scholarships will be awarded respectively to the top 3 candidates with the highest score in FINAL II
1st Cash scholarship of 1.000.00 € with bank transfer or PAYPAL and diploma of honor
2nd Cash scholarship of 500.00 € with bank transfer or PAYPAL and diploma of honor
3rd Cash scholarship of 300.00 € with bank transfer or PAYPAL and diploma of honor
The official prizes are in each case awarded to.
SPECIAL YOUTH SECTION

One scholarship will be awarded with the highest score in the FINAL II
YOUTH SECTION (UP TO 24 YEARS OLD)
1° Cash scholarship of 175.00 € with bank transfer or PAYPAL and diploma of honor
YOUNG SECTIONS (UP TO 20 YEARS OF AGE)
1° Cash scholarship of 125.00 € with bank transfer or PAYPAL and diploma of honor
CASH SCHOLARSHIP
Cash scholarship of 200.00 € to the memory of Maria Callas (100th anniversary of her birth, 1923) for the best
female voice ranked with the highest score in the ranking (higher than 85/100)
Cash scholarship of 200.00 € to the memory of Enrico Caruso (150th anniversary of his birth, 1873) for the best
male voice ranked with the highest score in the ranking (higher than 85/100)
Cash scholarship of 100.00 € to the best piano accompanist of the competition identified by the jury by listening to
the participants' videos
The cash scholarships are CUMULABLE with the official prizes.
VIDEO FEATURES (valid for both trials)
You can use video RECORDED FOR OTHER EVENTS (1) or you can submit a NEW RECORD video (2).
1) VIDEO ALREADY RECORDED FOR OTHER EVENTS.
Applicants may submit videos ALREADY RECORDED FOR OTHER EVENTS (competitions, opera concerts,
essays, performances). Recordings must not have been edited in any way, video or audio. Recordings must then BE
UPLOADED ON YOUTUBE in NON-LISTED or PUBLIC mode and must not be deleted at least until the end
of the competition. The description of the video must include the NAME AND SURNAME of the candidate,
PLACE AND DATE OF RECORDING.
2) NEWLY RECORDED VIDEO.
It is possible to record the video independently with a smartphone, a camera as long as there is no INTERRUPTION
and no AUDIO/VIDEO MONTAGE. Professional filming is not necessary, but the video must have excellent
visibility and good audio. The recordings must then be UPLOADED ON YOUTUBE in UNLISTED or PUBLIC
mode. The description of the videos must clearly state NAME AND SURNAME of the candidate and the words

OTHER
Any televised, radio or photographic use of the performances (making CDs or DVDs or posting on social or website)
will not result in any rights or compensation to candidates. The organization may make variations to these rules and has
the right to cancel the competition in case of a small number of contestants. Prizes may be sent by bank transfer or
PAYPAL, participants bearing the transaction charges and expenses. Cash scholarships are gross. Participation in the
competition alone is acceptance of the entire rules. In case of dispute, the regulations in the Italian language shall
prevail. The Court of Milan is competent for any dispute.
