MODULE DESCRIPTOR: This module deals with the physical fitness and self-testing
activities which concern on the development of the muscular strength, flexibility,
cardiovascular endurance, speed, agility, coordination and self-achievement through
performance of certain skill.

NOMINAL DURATION:
Week 4 (SEPT. 6 – 8)

LEARNING OUTCOME:

At the end of this module, the student are able to develop skills competencies and apply
an understanding of rules, skills and strategies of various activities.

CONTENTS:
 PHILIPINE PHYSICAL FITNESS

ASSESSMENT CRITERIA:
1. Acquire and practice desirable social trait necessary for adjustment to happy living
and to the social life in general.
2. Learn the mechanical principle of underlying movements as they acquire knowledge
and understanding of rules and strategies of games, sports as well as dance
instructions.
CONDITIONS:
Students must be provided with learning modules and access to other available
learning resources.

PHILIPPINE PHYSICAL FITNESS

Learning Objectives:
After reading this information sheet, you must be able to:
1. Identify the components of Physical Fitness under health related fitness and skill-
related fitness;
2. Recognize the importance of being physically fit; and
3. Perform the different Physical Fitness Test/ Assessment

Philippine Physical Fitness Test

A physical fitness test is a test designed to measure physical strength, agility,


and endurance. They are commonly employed in educational institutions as part of the
physical education curriculum, in medicine as part of diagnostic testing, and as eligibility
requirements in fields that focus on physical ability such as military or police.
The physical fitness test is a set of measures designed to determine one's level
of physical fitness. It has two components namely: Health-Related and Skill-Related
Fitness. Each component comprises several tests and specific testing protocols. There
are one thousand and one tests used worldwide but the choice of tests considered time
efficiency in the administration, availability of equipment, simplicity of the procedures,
and practicality of the tests.

Physical Fitness Test Goal


 To determine the level of fitness.
 To identify strengths and areas for development/improvement
 To identify bases for physical activities.
 To gather and analyze data for norms and standards setting.
 To motivate and guide students in choosing sports activities they would like to
participate in.
Test Protocol
The following testing paraphernalia are necessary:
1. First Aid Kit
2. Drinking Water (instruct students to bring their drinking jugs)
3. Individual score cards, properly filled up for distribution to students
4. In testing,
a. Body Composition- tape measure, bathroom scale, L-square
b. Flexibility-tape measure
c. Cardiovascular Endurance- stop watch, step box
d. Muscular Strength- mat
e. Speed-stop watch
f. Power-meter stick/tape measure
g. Agility-cone
h. Reaction Time- plastic ruler (24 inches)
i. Coordination-coupon bond j. Balance-stop watch
