Bad Weather
A Cindy

I come from the north of Finland. We like the snow there but the snowstorm hit us
very bad one year. That morning, the snow was as high as the house when we woke
up. Our car and garden were covered in snow. We didn’t have any electricity. We had
to live in dark and cold as we couldn’t open our front door. Luckily, we were
prepared. We had a radio with batteries, torches and warm clothes. I was calmed, but
I remembered my mum and dad were very worried that day.
B Amina

My family and I often go sailing during summer. We always check the weather
forecast before sailing to make sure it is sunny. At first, everything went well. It was
a sunny day, so we decided to take the boat out. All of a sudden, it started to rain. The
wind was strong and the sea became very rough. Our boat was hit by the waves
violently that I thought the boat would overturn. Luckily, after a few hours the storm
passed, but it was the scariest day of my life.
C Shanti

I live in a city. We used to have heavy rains but the weather has never gone extremely
bad. However, something strange happened last week. I was about to go to school as
usual when I heard the rain patter on the roof. However, I soon realised it was not
raindrops but ice balls falling from the sky. My mom told me it was called ‘hail’. It
was too dangerous so I stayed at home. The windshield of our car was broken, but
luckily nobody was hurt.
