Job Title Structural unit

Shift Supervisor Operations Department

PURPOSE OF THE JOB


Proactively manage, plan, organize, and control the safe and efficient shift work performance within the
Operational Department with respect to all operational processes of the Operational Department such as any
operations with stored products, discharge / loading of products from / onto sea going vessel, transfer of
products via pipelines, loading / unloading of products into / from road tankers, internal operations, as well as
the operational work to ensure continuous operational processes.

Direct Reportees : Assist Shift Leaders, CCR, Field & Gantory Operators

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES


 Know KHT (infra)structure and operations.
 Know KHT policy, implement it when fulfilling his/her work
1. KHT Structure and Operation duties.
 Fulfil personal as well as departmental objectives and
targets.
 Ensure to perform work with proper care and accuracy, take
necessary precautions and act in compliance with binding
company rules (quality, environment, fire safety,
occupational health and labor protection procedures,
regulations and instructions).
 Eliminate non-conformities within the framework of his/her
responsibility and competence at his/her initiative in due
course.
2. HSEQ  Inform responsible persons timely about non-conformities /
operational incidents.
 Issue work permits with respect to works planned to be
performed within the terminal or with respect to externally
placed company owned infrastructure.
 Ensure / enforce safety compliance of KHTL employees and
third parties within his/her area of responsibilities.
 Contribute to the upkeep / housekeeping of the terminal.
 Assume a leading role during emergency situations.
 Be on ground to effectively supervise, co-ordinate, and
check all works performed by shift personnel by involving
optimal number of operators and other resources to meet

 Assure efficient operation of gantry for the loading and
unloading of road tankers.
 Ensure the efficient performance of all pipeline transfers to
(from sea going vessel) and from the terminal (into White
Oil Pipeline).
 Ensure the execution of tank to tank transfers or tank
draining / emptying.
 Provide stringent oversight over all operations involving the
use of the FOTCO pipeline infrastructure, including the
operation / securing of the owned fixed infrastructure
(valves) connected to the FOTCO pipeline infrastructure.
 Overlook all pipeline pigging operations performed by the
terminal.
 Generate ideas, proposals, participate in discussions and
projects, share opinions with respect to terminal
improvements that lead to better work organization and
efficiency.
 Assist in the overall product inventory control of the
terminal.
 Ensure proper accounting of product discharges from sea
going vessels into shore tanks in the context of overall
product inventories.
 Ensure proper accounting of product of product loaded into
road tankers in context of overall product inventories.
 Ensure proper accounting of product unloaded from road
4. Inventory Control tankers into shore tanks in the context of overall product
inventories.
 Ensure proper accounting of product transfers into pipelines
systems (White Oil Pipeline) in the context of overall
product inventories.
 Enforce aim of zero product losses with respect to all
operations related to the handling of road tankers.
 Record and report any inventory / accounting discrepancies
timely to management.
 Ensure professional work with stored products
(administration and reporting) in connection with planned
or implemented operational activities, product flow, and
product level in shore tanks.
 Ensure timely accurate data entries in IT systems employed
by KHTL and availability of all administrative data related to

 Participate in preparation, circulation and updating of
documentation of the Operational Department (regulation,
job descriptions, instructions, reports, training materials) in
accordance with binding procedures, KHTL nomenclature of
files and other regulatory enactments.

 Contribute to the administration / generation / updating of
Standard Operating Procedures related to his / her scope of
work.
 Execute orders received from the Customer Service
Department. In case of necessity to make changes together

 Report executed orders to the Customer Service
Department to ensure processing.
 Make proposals about necessity for new projects to
improve KHTL operational capabilities and to increase
diversity of services available to customers.
7. Project Management
 Assist in the supervision of operational project
implementation process in accordance with project
documentation.
 Lead the members of the operational shift to achieve
excellency in safety and operational performance.
 Ensure an efficient and cost effective organizational
structure, processes, procedures and (professional) culture.
8. HR Management / Leadership  Implement and execute HR policies, plans and programs in
order to ensure personnel resources meeting current and
future business requirements.
 Provide professional leadership to subordinates, their
professional development and conduct fair assessments.
 Ensure that operational equipment is operated correctly
and in accordance with all safety requirements.
 Identify required repair works related to operational
equipment, inform management of Operational
9. Maintenance & Repair works
Department about the necessary repair works.
 Ensure proper work conditions for safe and effective
performance of repair works in accordance with previously
approved work permit.
 Build and maintain professional know how, make know how
available to colleagues and translate know how to the
specific situation.
10. Knowledge Management
 Safeguard professional development of subordinates.
 Prepare training programs and materials to ensure
successful succession.
11. Other  Any other task as assigned from time to time

 Minimization of product losses.
 Safe / efficient / timely handling of road tankers (loading / unloading). Zero operational mistakes
 Number of reported near misses / incidents / safety violations.
 Ensure performance of shift team member, their training and development.

The Employee shall be responsible for qualitative and timely performance of tasks and functions entrusted to
him/her under the present job description; he/she shall bear responsibility according to the laws of the Islamic
Republic of Pakistan for any losses incurred to KHTL as a result of his/her actions or failure to act.
Whereas information related to KHTL operations is considered confidential at any time the Employee shall
maintain the confidentiality of the mentioned information, shall not disclose it to any third person and shall not
create the possibility for any third person to get access to this information
QUALIFICATION AND COMPETENCIES LEVEL OF QUALIFICATION OR COMPETENCE

1. Education B.Tech/BE/B.Sc/B.Com/B.A

Considerable professional experience of > 5 years in the Oil & Gas


2. Professional experience
industry in related position.
Basic computer skills (Internet browsers, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
3. Computer skills
Information systems used at KHTL
4. Languages - English & Urdu – proficient.
 High sense of responsibility.
 Accurate execution of given tasks.
 Team player & customer focused
5. Personality  Excellent communication skills.
 Ability to manage increased complexity and stressful situations.
 Ability to make decisions.
 Excellent planning skills, ability to achieve set targets.
