Maternal and Child Health

I learned everything there is to know about molding during this webinar.

and engagement.Molding is the overlaying of skull bones along the suture

lines, which results in a shift in the fetal skull's long, narrow form, which

makes passage easier. through the stiff pelvis. The force of uterine

contractions as the head's vertex presses up against the cervix, which is still

not fully dilated. the overlap that occurs in the sagittal suture line, and the

coronal suture line may usually be felt on a newborn skull. Molding is not a

chronic illness and only lasts one or two days, so parents may rest easy.

The following term is engagement, which refers to the settling of the

presenting part of a fetus far enough into the pelvis that it rests at the level of

the ischial spines, the pelvic midway. Descent to this stage indicates that the

fetus's broadest part (the presenting skull diameter in a cephalic presentation

or the intertrochanteric diameter in a breech presentation) has passed

through.

Birth has been proved to be possible through the pelvis or the pelvic inlet.

During a primipara,

The absence of engagement of the head at the start of labor shows

that a possibilityThere is a complication such as an aberrant presentation or

posture, fetal head abnormalities, or cephalopelvic disproportion.Engagement

Comprehensive View of Postpartum Period

The period following childbirth is referred to as "postpartum," I

discovered. Most new mothers have "baby blues," or feelings of sadness or

emptiness, within a few days of giving birth. The newborn blues usually pass

in 3 to 5 days for most mothers. You might develop postpartum depression if

your baby blues persist or if you experience these emotions for more than two

weeks.

After giving birth, the majority of new mothers endure postpartum "baby

blues," which frequently include anxiety, sleep difficulties, mood fluctuations,

and crying fits. The baby blues usually start two to three days after delivery

and can linger for up to two weeks. Rubra, serosa, and alba are the three

stages of postpartum bleeding. Rubra can last up to four days after delivery.

The first few days after a baby is born are when postpartum bleeding is

at its worst. Blood will be very heavy and either a dark or bright red color.

During this phase, it's typical to notice clots in your lochia. Normal blood clots

are no larger than a quarter or a small plum. As your uterus grows back to its

regular size, you might experience cramping and uterine contractions. Consult

a physician if you have blood clots that are larger than a quarter.

Alba, the third stage of postpartum bleeding, can last two to six weeks after

giving birth. Lochia changes color from pink to light brown to yellowish white.

Blood spots may still appear now and then. The majority of the blood loss

during this stage of postpartum bleeding is made up of white blood cells,

which helped your uterus heal after giving birth and are now leaving the body.

Erickson Theory of Psycho social Development

I discovered from watching this webinar that kids need to start exerting

authority and control over their surroundings. A sense of purpose results from

completing this stage successfully.Children must adjust to the new social and

academic demands. Children who try to impose too much control face

criticism, which causes a sense of shame. While failure results in a sense of

inadequacy, success fosters a sense of competence.

Adults need to nurture things that endure, sometimes through

producing children or bringing about beneficial change for others. While failure

results in a shallow sense of connection in the world, success leads to a

sense of usefulness.

According to Erikson's thesis, a person's progression through the

phases of development depends on how they deal with social crises over the

course of their lives. Erikson believes in his psychosocial theory that ego

identity is attained by overcoming objectives and difficulties during eight

stages of development over the course of a lifetime. These social crises teach

people how to respond to their environment. Two conflicting emotional factors,

known as opposed dispositions, that produce a crisis that needs to be

addressed characterize each psychological stage. A person's psychology is in

danger if a crisis is not handled as quickly as possible. But if the dispute is

successfully resolved, a sound personality and the acquisition of a

fundamental virtue follow. These character traits are employed by the ego.

Children in Health and Sickness: Providing Skillful and Intelligent Care

The revised definition of nursing put forth by the American Nurses

Association's (ANA) Social Policy Task Force in 2003 is consistent with

nursing of infants and young children. I discovered that paying attention to the

full range of human experiences and responses to health and illness without

restriction to a problem-focused orientation

Integration of objective data with information obtained from comprehension of

the subjective experience of the patient or group. Pediatric nursing is distinct

from other clinical nursing specialties.

When caring for infants, toddlers, or children who are critically ill or are

unable to communicate in the conventional sense, pediatric nurses must have

keen observational skills. Pediatric nurses frequently support children going

through difficult procedures or illnesses. Nurses also need to be aware of the

indirect teaching that happens through example. A pediatric nurse also serves

as a child and family advocate, whether those activities involve an ethical

decision or the quality of care provided.

Pediatric nurses must be focused on and knowledgeable about the

critical issues, including family-centered care, knowledge of and rapport with

children with special needs, and being prepared for future challenges. Infants

and toddlers can control their body temperatures, but they are still prone to

wide variations, especially after prolonged crying or vigorous play.
