1. RBI imposes Rs 1.76 crore penalty on Vakrangee for non-compliance with regulations
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed a monetary penalty of Rs 1.76 crore on Vakrangee Limited
(the entity) for non-compliance with certain provisions of the White Label ATM (WLA) directions.
The penalty has been imposed in respect to non-compliance with regulations on ATM deployment
targets.
2. SEBI issues guidelines pertaining to the standardization of rating scales used by credit
rating agencies(CRAs)
The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) issued a pertaining to the standardization of rating
scales used by credit rating agencies(CRAs).
The circular will come into effect on 1 January 2023. CRAs will then have to report to SEBI their
compliance with norms as ratified by their boards of directors within one quarter from date of
applicability. Credit rating agencies(CRAs) in India are regulated by SEBI.
3. Zaggle and NPCI partner to launch multiple credit cards on RuPay network
Zaggle, a SaaS FinTech company, announced that it had collaborated with the National Payments
Corporation of India (NPCI) to issue contactless credit cards on the RuPay network. Zaggle and NPCI,
along with partner banks, would use this platform to launch multiple credit cards to address the ever-
growing demand of corporates, SMEs, and consumers.
4. Chqbook taps NSDL Payments Bank to launch zero-balance digital current account
Chqbook, a neobank for small business owners, has launched a first-of-its-kind digital current account.
Small business owners like kiranas, chemists, can open a current account instantly on the Chqbook App
from their smartphone and in a language they are comfortable with. The current account is available in
eight languages making it more accessible and easy to understand.
5. SBI logs highest-ever quarterly profit in the 2nd quarter
The State Bank of India (SBI) has reported its highest-ever quarterly profit of 13,265 crore rupees for
the second quarter ended on the 30th of September. The Bank's quarterly profit is 74 per cent higher
than the 7,627 crore rupees reported in the year-ago period. The asset quality of the bank also improved
with Gross NPAs declining to 3.5 per cent this quarter.
6. India's First Floating Financial Literacy Camp conducted in Dal Lake of Srinagar
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appreciated India Post Payments Bank for conducting India's First
Floating Financial Literacy Camp in Dal Lake of Srinagar, Jammu, and Kashmir. The camp was organised
under an initiative called Niveshak Didi, was focused to raise financial awareness by adopting the
women, by the women approach.
7. Aditya Birla Health, IDFC FIRST Bank tie up for bancassurance
Aditya Birla Health Insurance Co Ltd (ABHI), a standalone health insurer, has entered into a
bancassurance partnership with IDFC FIRST Bank for distribution of health insurance products through
the bank's digital platform and its wide distribution network. ABHI can provide health insurance facility to
the deeper and underpenetrated parts of the country.

8. MUFG Bank partners M1xchange to digitize corporate trade finance
MUFG Bank has partnered with M1xchange to facilitate digital invoice financing for the bank's clients.
Under M1xchange's TReDS (Trade Receivables Discounting System), MSME suppliers get early funding
for their receivables under a bidding mechanism, and this is funded by MUFG Bank, which takes on the

9. HDFC MF launches sectoral exchange-traded funds Nifty IT and Nifty Private Bank
HDFC Asset Management Co. Ltd has announced the launch of two exchange-traded funds (ETFs) ' Nifty
IT ETF and Nifty Private Bank ETF. These funds offer a passive way to gain exposure to the growing
information technology and private bank space. HDFC Nifty IT ETF has the potential to capture global IT

10. SME lending startup ftcash gets NBFC licence from RBI
SME lending startup, ftcash has received a licence from the Reserve Bank of India to set up a non-
banking financial company. With this, the company aims to disburse loans worth '100 crore in FY23.
Headquartered in Mumbai, the company was founded in 2015 by Sanjeev Chandak, Deepak Kothari and
Vaibhav Lodha.

11. Gujarat-based NBFC tops NARCL bid for consolidated construction


Gujarat-based NBFC Raj Radhe Finance has offered '130 crore to take over the debt of EPC company
Consolidated Construction Consortium (CCC) topping National Asset Reconstruction Co Ltd's (NARCL)
'100-crore offer.
Raj Radhe's offer was in response to a Swiss challenge called by banks after the anchor bid by NARCL
last month.
12. Post RBI nod, 9 vostro accounts opened to facilitate overseas trade in rupee
Sberbank and VTB Bank-the largest and second-largest banks of Russia respectively-are the first foreign
lenders to receive approval after the RBI announced the guidelines for overseas trade in the rupee in
July.
"Nine accounts have been opened. One in UCO Bank, one in Sber, one in VTB and six with IndusInd
Bank. These six are different Russian banks,".
13. RBI chooses five banks for retail digital currency pilot
State Bank of India, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and IDFC First Bank are on a shortlist of at least five lenders
that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has roped in to work on the retail pilot of its central bank digital
currency (CBDC). The pilot for the retail digital rupee is expected to go live soon, and more banks could
be included in it.
14. Axis Bank launches 7th edition of knowledge summit 'Evolve' for MSMEs
The current edition is focused on the broader theme of 'Indian SMEs: Shifting Gears for Next Level
Growth' with sub-themes such as 'Digitalisation to Building Indian SMEs' and 'Export Opportunities for
SMEs in the New World Order'. Axis Bank hosted Evolve across 20 cities such as Mumbai, Chennai,
Indore, Bhubaneswar, Lucknow, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, etc
15. Karnataka has highest installed grid-interactive renewable power capacity in India: RBI
report
Karnataka came at the top position while comparing the total installed capacity of grid-interactive
renewable power of all the states of the country. The state had a total installed capacity of 15,463
megawatts (mw).
Tamil Nadu, with 15,225 mw, came at the 2nd; Gujarat, with 13,153 mw, was at third position,
according to Handbook of Statistics on Indian Statistics by RBI.
16. Balances under SDF to be included in Liquidity Coverage Ratio: RBI to Banks
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has told banks that overnight balances held by them under the standing
deposit facility (SDF) will be eligible as 'Level 1 High Quality Liquid Assets (HQLA)' for computation of the
Liquidity Coverage Ratio (LCR). This will enhance the ability of banks to achieve LCR.
17. GSTN now part of AA network to facilitate cash flow lending to MSMEs: RBI
In a major development, the Goods and Services Tax network (GSTN) has been included to the account
aggregator (AA) network as a financial information provider (FIP) to facilitate cash flow lending to the
micro, small, and medium enterprises, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) said. Department of revenue
shall be the regulator of GSTN for this specific purpose and GST returns.
18. Airtel Payments Bank rolls-out e-KYC based on face authentication
Airtel Payments Bank has taken yet another step towards digital inclusion and announced the launch of
Face Authentication-based savings bank account opening for customers. The facility will further ease the
account opening process making it seamless & convenient for customers. Airtel Payments Bank is the
first Payments Bank in the country to offer this facility.
19. Canara Bank Starts Issuing Electronic Bank Guarantee In Partnership With NeSL
Canara Bank ushered in a new dawn of digital banking on its 117th Founder's day, with issuance of an
Electronic Bank Guarantee in partnership with National E-Governance Services Limited. Bank now offers
an API based digital workflow of Bank guarantees which will eliminate physical issuance, stamping,
verification and paper based record maintenance of Bank Guarantees.
20. ICICI Bank introduces deposit-linked loan and dollar bonds for NRIs at GIFT City
ICICI Bank has launched two new products-- Loan Against Deposits (LAD) and Dollar Bonds-- for NRI
customers at its branch in GIFT City, the Gujarat-based emerging global financial and IT services hub.
ICICI Bank is the first bank to offer these products in GIFT City.
21. Bank credit growth accelerates to 17.2% in September quarter: RBI data
Bank credit growth accelerated to 17.2 percent in the quarter ended September 2022 from 7 percent in
the same period of the previous year, data from the Reserve Bank of India's "Quarterly Statistics on
Deposits and Credit of SCBs: September 2022" showed.

RBI collects this data from all scheduled commercial banks (SCBs), which include RRBs, SFBs, and
payments banks. In the quarter ended June 2022, bank credit was at 14.2 percent.
22. RBI Asks Paytm To Reapply For Payment Aggregator Licence
One97 Communications that owns the Paytm brand said that the RBI has asked the Paytm Payment
Services Limited (PPSL) to resubmit the application for a payment aggregator Licence within 120
calendar days.
A payment aggregator is 3rd-party that manages & processes merchants' online transactions with
consumers, allowing merchants to be more hands-off in their payment process. Nakul Jain is the CEO of
Paytm Payments Services Ltd (PPSL).
23. New credit card payment rule: RBI wants card issuers to revisit minimum amount due
formula
RBI wants banks and card issuers to calculate the minimum amount due on credit card bills in a way that
does not result in negative amortization.
"The unpaid charges or levies, or taxes shall not be capitalized for charging or compounding of interest,"
the central bank earlier said in a master direction ' Credit card and Debit card ' Issuance and Conduct
Directions, 2022.
24. Inclusion of Goods and Service Tax Network (GSTN) as a Financial Information Provider
under Account Aggregator Framework
With a view to facilitate cash flow-based lending to MSMEs, it has been decided to include GSTN as a
Financial Information Provider (FIP) under the Account Aggregator (AA) framework. Department of
Revenue shall be the regulator of GSTN for this specific purpose and Goods and Services Tax (GST)
Returns, viz. Form GSTR-1 and Form GSTR-3B, shall be the Financial Information. GST Council approved
the change in GSTN ownership to 100% government-owned in March 2020.
25. SBI board approves raising Rs 10,000 crore via infrastructure bonds
SBI approved raising Rs 10,000 crore (including a green shoe option of Rs. 5,000 crores) through a
public issue or private placement by issuing infrastructure bonds during the FY 2023.
The bank has a term loan pipeline of '2.5 lakh crore and expects demand from all sectors.

Economy

1. GST Collection October 2022: 2nd highest ever


The gross GST revenue collected in the month of October 2022 was at '1,51,718 crore, the second
highest monthly collection ever, next only to the collection in April 2022. Out of total collections, Central
GST is Rs 26,039 crore, State GST is Rs 33,396 crore, Integrated GST is Rs 81,778 crore (including Rs
37,297 crore collected on import of goods). GST came into effect from 1st July 2017 in India.
2. Centre approves Rs 51,875 crore for P&K fertilizer for Rabi 2022-23
The Centre has approved an additional fertilizer subsidy of Rs 51,875 crore for the rabi or winter planting
season, which runs from October 2022 to March 2023. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs
(CCEA) approved the new nutrient-based subsidy rates for phosphatic and potassic fertilisers.
3. India's October iron ore exports 'nearly zero': FIMI
India's iron ore exports dropped to "nearly zero" in October, and overseas shipments of the steelmaking
raw material are expected to continue to languish due to higher export taxes and lower demand from
China.
India in May raised export tax on low-grade iron ore lumps and fines - with iron content below 58% - to
50% from zero, and hiked the duties on pellets to 45% from 0. NMDC is the largest producer of iron ore
in the country.
4. Unemployment rate surges to 7.77% in Oct against 6.43% in Sept: CMIE
Unemployment rate in India surged last month on the back of significant increase in rural unemployment
rate, reversing the decline registered in September.
The data from the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy shows the unemployment rate in India stood at
7.77% in October compared to a four-year low of 6.43% in September. CMIE was established in 1976,
primarily as an independent think tank.
5. Govt Notifies IIPDF Scheme for Financial Support for Project Development Expenses of PPP
Projects
The Infrastructure Finance Secretariat (IFS), DEA, has come out with Scheme for Financial Support for
Project Development Expenses of PPP Projects ' 'IIPDF Scheme' (India Infrastructure Project
Development Fund Scheme) for providing necessary support to the PSAs, both in the Central and State
Governments.
6. India's forex reserves reaches to 531.081 billion US Dollar.
India's forex reserves increased by 6.561 billion to reach 531.081 billion US Dollar for the week ended
October 28. Foreign currency assets stood at 470.847 billion US Dollar. The value of gold reserves
increased from 556 million to 37.762 billion US Dollar.
7. Russia becomes India's top oil supplier in Oct, surpasses Saudi Arabia and Iraq
Surpassing traditional suppliers Saudi Arabia and Iraq, Russia has emerged as the top oil supplier to
India in October. The information provided by energy cargo tracker Vortexa shows that Russia, which
made up for just 0.2 per cent of all oil imported by India in the year to March 31, 2022, supplied
935,556 barrels per day of crude oil to India in October-the highest ever.
8. Tamil Nadu pips Karnataka to emerge as the third-largest state in own tax revenues in H1
FY23
Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh take the first two positions. According to the provisional figures from
Comptroller and Auditor General of India, Tamil Nadu has mopped up '68,638 crore in State's Own Tax
Revenue collections between April-September against Karnataka's '66,158 crore tax collection.
Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh mopped up '1,15,211cr and '1,02,687cr respectively
9. Union Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman approves India's First Sovereign Green
Bonds Framework
Union Minister for Finance & Corporate Affairs Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman approves the final Sovereign
Green Bonds framework of India.
The approval is fulfillment of the announcement in the Union Budget FY 2022-23 by the Union Finance
Minister that Sovereign Green Bonds will be issued for mobilising resources for green projects. A green
bond is used to raise money for climate and environmental projects.
10. DGFT notifies amended Foreign Trade Policy norms for export benefits on rupee receipts
DGFT notified norms for permitting exporters to avail benefits under the foreign trade policy, even on
realisation in rupee. The DGFT, under the commerce ministry, has already allowed invoicing, payment
and settlement of exports and imports in Indian rupee, a move aimed at facilitating trade in the domestic
currency.

11. India's Industrial Output jumps 3.1% in September against 0.8% fall in August
India's industrial output, as measured by the Index of Industrial Production (IIP), grew 3.1% in
September, supported by a double-digit increase in electricity generation. India's electricity sector output
grew in double-digits at 11.6% year-on-year to 187.4 on the IIP in September. While mining saw a 4.6%
jump to 99.5, manufacturing posted a 1.8 per cent rise to 134.3.
12. Wholesale Price Index inflation in October eases to 8.39 per cent
Wholesale Price-based Inflation (WPI) for October eased to its lowest level since March 2021. Dropping
below the double-digit mark for the first time since March of the year 2021, it eased to 8.39 per cent in
October from 10.70 per cent in September.
13. India's retail inflation eases to 3-month low in October
India's retail inflation eased sharply to 6.77 per cent on an annual basis in the month of October from
7.41 per cent in September 2022. The number has remained above RBI's tolerance band of 2-6 per cent
for the 10th consecutive month. Food inflation for October came in at 7.01 per cent as against 8.6 per
cent a month before.
14. GST: NAA to Wind Up by Dec 1 2022, CCI to Consider Anti-Profiteering Complaints
All GST anti-profiteering complaints would be dealt with by the Competition Commission of India (CCI)
from December 1 as the extended tenure of National Anti-profiteering Authority (NAA) ends this month.
The NAA was set up in November 2017 under Section 171A of Goods and Services Tax (GST) law to
check unfair profiteering activities by registered suppliers.
15. OECD cuts India FY23 GDP forecast to 6.6% on slowdown at home, global fears
The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has cut its gross domestic growth
forecast for India for the current financial year (FY23) to 6.6 per cent from 6.9 per cent, citing higher
medium-term global uncertainty and slowing domestic economic activity.The agency said that India is
set to be the second-fastest growing economy in the G-20 in FY23.
16. India's CAD pegged at 3-3.2% of GDP in FY23: CEA V Anantha Nageswaran
With rising domestic economic activity and an uptick in oil import bills, India's current account deficit is
expected to be 3-3.2 percent of gross domestic product (GDP) for FY23, according to Chief Economic
Advisor (CEA) V Anantha Nageswaran. But he stressed the country's external sector remains robust.
17. India's unemployment rate dips to 7.2% in July-Sept 2022: NSO survey
Unemployment rate for persons aged 15 years and above in urban areas declined to 7.2 per cent during
July-September 2022 from 9.8 per cent a year ago, the National Statistical Office (NSO). Unemployment
rate or joblessness is defined as the percentage of unemployed persons among the labor force.
18. Mutual fund investors to get dividend payments within 7 days from record date
SEBI has issued a circular on November 25 asking the mutual fund houses to pay the dividends within
seven days from the record date.
It further directed that the record date should be two working days from the date of a public notice.
In case of redemption or repurchase of units, the fund houses are told to pay out the proceeds within
three working days.
19. SEBI releases uniform format for OTC trades in non-convertible securities
SEBI came out with a uniform format for reporting over-the-counter (OTC) trades in listed non-
convertible securities.
Under the format, information pertaining to deal type -- whether brokered or direct -- ISIN, listed or
unlisted security, issuer name, coupon rate, issue description, traded price, traded yield, trade date and
time, settlement date &status to be disclosed.
20. India to receive first LNG cargo from Indonesia's Tangguh LNG
India has received its first cargo from Indonesia's Tangguh liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant at the Dahej
terminal 28 Nov.
The LNG cargo is being transported by the BW Helios tanker.
The BW Helios picked up the cargo of 132,000 cubic metres at the Tangguh LNG loading facility on Sept.

1. Finance Minister launches biggest ever Coal Mine Auction of 141 Mines
Union Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman has Launched the 6th round of coal mine auction of the
Ministry of Coal.
She pointed out that coal imports for power sector has come down by 41%.
Finance Ministry has extended Rs. 6000 crore incentive for coal gasification and Rs. 250 crore for
exploration process. India is the second-largest coal-producing country, with production of 767 MTs in
2021.
2. President of India inaugurates the permanent North-East Campus of Indian Institute of
Mass Communication (IIMC)
The President of India inaugurated the permanent North-East Campus of Indian Institute of Mass
Communication (IIMC) North East at Aizawl, Mizoram. With the main Campus in New Delhi, IIMC has five
regional campuses at Dhenkanal in Odisha, Aizawl in Mizoram, Jammu in J&K, Kottayam in Kerala and
Amravati in Maharashtra.
3. Union Minister inaugurates Centre for Policy Research in Maritime Studies (C-PRiMeS) in
chennai.
A Centre for Policy Research in Maritime Studies (C-PRiMeS) of Indian Maritime University (IMU) in
Chennai was inaugurated by the Union Minister Shri Sarbananda Sonowal. The C-PRiMeS centre will
undertake maritime studies and act as a think tank for the development of the marine economy.
4. Central government appoints 9 Judicial Members, 6 Technical Members to NCLT
The Central government has notified the appointment of fifteen members - including nine judicial
members and six technical members - to the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT).
The current appointment is for a period of five years or till the members attain the age of 65 years,
whichever is earlier.

5. Mother Tongue Survey Of India Completed With Field Videography Of 576 Languages And
Dialects
The Ministry of Home Affairs has successfully completed a mother tongue survey with field videography
of 576 languages and dialects across the country.
The home ministry said the Linguistic Survey of India (LSI) is a regular research activity in the country
since the 6th Five Year Plan.
6. MoHUA launches Transport4All through digital innovation challenge stage-2 and Citizen
Perception Survey-2022
The Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep S Puri launched the Transport4All challenge
stage-2 and Citizen Perception Survey 2022 at an event in New Delhi.
The Transport4All challenge is an initiative of the MoHUA that aims at enhancing the mobility experience
of citizens.
7. Nation-wide Campaign for Promotion of Digital Life Certificate
The Department of Pension & Pensioners' Welfare, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions,
Government of India has launched a Nation-wide Campaign for Promotion of Digital Life Certificate for
Central Government pensioners for promoting the Life certificate through Digital mode and popularizes
the Face Authentication technique. Jeevan Pramaan is a Life Certificate program affiliated with Aadhaar
for pensioners.
8. Indian Railways accomplishes electrification of 82% of the total BG network
Indian Railways has embarked upon an ambitious plan of electrification of its complete Broad Gauge
network which would not only result in a better fuel energy usage resulting in increased throughput,
reduced fuel expenditure but also savings in precious foreign exchange. The Indian Railways has set a
target of 100 % electrification of its network by Dec 2023.
9. DigiLocker users can now digitally store health records and link them with Ayushman
Bharat Health Account (ABHA)
DigiLocker, the authentic documents exchange platform under the MeitY has successfully completed its
second-level of integration with Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM).
DigiLocker can be used now as a health locker for storing and accessing health records such as
vaccination records, doctor prescriptions, lab reports, hospital discharge summaries etc. Digital Locker
was launched on 1st July 2015.

10. NFRA issues inspection guidelines to improve quality control at audit firms
Audit regulator, the National Financial Reporting Authority (NFRA), brought out a set of guidelines for
monitoring the audit firms' quality and compliance standards.
Quality inspection guidelines is a step towards further improving quality of the audit profession.
11. India discontinues Air Suvidha form filling for international passengers
International travellers entering India will no longer be required to fill up the self-declaration form, called
Air Suvidha, for COVID-19 related screening of passengers. Neither will passengers be required to submit
a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR report
These relaxations come into effect from November 22.
12. Govt Unveils Framework To Curb Fake Reviews On Ecommerce Platforms
Called the 'Indian Standard (IS) 19000:2022 'Online Consumer Reviews ' Principles and Requirements
for their Collection, Moderation and Publication', the framework was finalised after 30 days of
consultation.
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) will develop an assessment scheme within 15 days to assess the
compliance of the norms. The framework was released by Consumer Affairs Secretary Rohit Kumar
Singh.
13. NCLAT Stays CCI's INR 169 Cr Penalty On OYO
The National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) effectively stayed the INR 168.88 Cr penalty
imposed by the Competition Commission of India (CCI) on hospitality major OYO.

1. Ghana assumes presidency of UN Security Council


During the month of November 2022, Ghana shall preside over the meetings of the Council (adoptions,

CEPA upgradation negotiations will be hosted by India in early 2023.
3. G7 countries call for extension of grain deal
The Group of Seven (G7) countries have called for an extension of the UN-brokered grain deal after
meeting in the western German town of Muenster. They strongly support the United Nations Secretary-
General's call for the extension of the Black Sea Grain Initiative, which has reduced global food prices.
They also urged Russia to heed the Secretary-General's call.
4. Switzerland sets record with world's longest passenger train
A Swiss railway operator has set a new record for completing a journey with the world's longest
passenger train. The 1.9km (1.2 mile) train, which is composed of 100 coaches, completed a spectacular
25km journey through the Alps. The world record attempt took place to highlight Switzerland's
engineering achievements, as well as to mark 175 years of Swiss railways.
5. IMF to provide $4.5 bn loan for Bangladesh to combat economic crisis
Bangladesh and the IMF reached a preliminary agreement under which the global lender will provide a
USD 4.5 billion support package to stabilise its economy and protect the vulnerable people.
Bangladesh is the third South Asian nation after Sri Lanka and Pakistan to secure a bailout package from

2. BEE, SIDBI to jointly promote energy efficiency financing for MSMEs
The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) and Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) have

NIIFL signs pact with JBIC to enhance Japanese investments into India. JBIC and the GoI will invest in
the India-Japan Fund, which will make equity investments in environmental preservation and low carbon
emission strategies.
The MOU outlines a partnership framework between NIIF and JBIC, which is considering the
establishment a bilateral India-Japan Fund (IJF). The Rs 40,000-crore NIIF, a quasi-sovereign wealth
fund, was set up in December 2015.

6. BSNL gets Centre's nod to sign Rs 26,821 crore 4G deal with TCS: Report
The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has received the central government's nod to go ahead with Rs
26,281 crore deal with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), paving its way to launch 4G services in India.
As reported by Economic Times (ET), TCS will set up the 4G lines and maintain the network for nine
years.
BSNL will give Rs 10,000 crore worth of purchase orders to TCS soon. BSNL is a fully owned (10%)
Government company.
7. National Museum, India and Kolding Museum, Denmark sign Memorandum of

14. Australian parliament approves free trade agreement with India
India and Australia would now implement the free trade agreement on a mutually agreed date as the
Australian Parliament approved the pact between the two countries.The India-Australia Economic

1. DoT OKs 42 firms for telecom products PLI, incl 17 for design PLI
The ministry of communications has expanded the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme for telecom
and networking products with a total of 42 companies, including 28 medium and small enterprises
(MSMEs), cleared for receiving sops for a total investment of Rs 4,115 crore.
A total of 31 companies were given approval on October 14, 2021 for the scheme.
2. Prime Minister of India urges citizens to visit Nadabet under Seema darshan.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged the citizens to visit Nadabet and other border areas as part of
Seema darshan to further tourism. The Nadabet Seema Darshan Project is initiated with the objective of

3. Centre sanctions '60000 cr long-term capex funds to states
The central government has sanctioned '60,000 crore of long-term capital expenditure funds to states

bridges, airports and highways across the country.The scheme envisages giving '1 trillion of 50-year
interest-free loans to states, over and above the normal borrowing.

Facebook-parent Meta's India head, Ajit Mohan, ended his four-year stint at the social media giant
abruptly to become the Asia-Pacific head of rival Snap.
Mohan, who joined Meta in January 2019, had served as the founding chief executive officer of Disney's
streaming platform Hotstar for four years before joining the social media giant.
6. Slovenia: Natasa Pirc Musar elected first female president
Lawyer Natasa Pirc Musar won the second round of Slovenia's presidential election on Sunday and will
become the country's first female head of state.
She will succeed President Borut Pahor, a centrist politician who had already served two terms in office.
Pirc Musar had represented former US first lady Melania Trump in copyright and other cases in her native

Ministry of Education released a detailed report on Unified District Information System for Education Plus
(UDISE+) 2021-22 on school education of India.
In 2021-22 total students enrolled in school education from primary to higher secondary stood at 25.57
crore as compare to 25.38 crore enrolment in 2020-21, registering an increase of 19.36 lakh enrolments.

Reliance Industries, the country's largest company by revenues, profits and market value, is India's best

India has been ranked as the nation with the cheapest manufacturing cost ahead of China and Vietnam,

6. Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat releases Dynamic Ground Water Resource
Assessment Report 2022
The assessment was carried out jointly by Central Ground Water Board (CGWB) and States/UTs, which
can be used for taking suitable interventions by various stake-holders. As per the 2022 assessment
report, the total annual ground water recharge for the entire country is 437.60 billion cubic meters
(BCM) and annual ground water extraction for the entire country is 239.16 BCM.
7. India saved $4.2 billion in fuel costs through solar power: Report
An amount of USD 4.2 billion has been saved by India in fuel costs through solar power generation in the
first half of 2022, and 19.4 million tonnes of coal which would have further stressed an already strained
domestic supply, according to a report 'The sunny side of Asia'.
The majority of the estimated savings were in China with $21 billion in fossil fuels imports.

WHO's Global Vaccine Market Report 2022 shows that inequitable distribution is not unique to COVID-19

RBI has released the Report on Municipal Finances, compiling and analyzing budgetary data for 201

Findings: Municipal finances are dominated by property tax collections and devolution of taxes and
grants from upper tiers of government.
10. India needs to increase urban infrastructure investments to $55 billion a year: World Bank
The report, titled 'Financing India's Infrastructure Needs: Constraints to Commercial Financing and
Prospects for Policy Action', estimated that India would need $840 billion over the next 15 years.
Currently, the central and state governments finance over 75% of city infrastructure, while urban local
bodies (ULB) finance 15% through their own surplus revenues.

1. DRDO carries out maiden test of Phase-II of ballistic missile defence


'The AD-1 is a long-range interceptor missile designed for both low exo-atmospheric and endo-
atmospheric interception of long-range ballistic missiles as well as aircraft. It is propelled by a two-stage
solid motor and equipped with the indigenously-developed advanced control system, navigation, and
guidance algorithm to precisely guide the vehicle to the target,'.
2. India's first private sector rocket Vikram-S to launch in November
Skyroot Aerospace is set to lift off the country's first privately developed rocket into space.
The Prarambh mission is expected to launch in the second week of November on a demonstration flight
with the Vikram-S launch vehicle.
The company has already received a technical launch clearance from IN-SPACe.

4. ISRO successfully launches first ever private Rocket from Sriharikota
India's first ever private Vikram Suborbital rocket was launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre,
Sriharikota. The rocket reached an altitude of 89.5 km with three payloads weighing a total of 83
kilogram.
The rocket safely splashed in the waters of the Bay of Bengal at around 115 km after the lift-off from
Sriharikota.
5. ISRO To Launch PSLV-C54/EOS-06 Mission On 26 November
The Indian Space Research Organisation will launch PSLV-54/ EOS-06 mission with Oceansat-3 and eight
nano satellites on board from Sriharikota spaceport on November 26. EOS-06 (Oceansat-3) plus eight
nano satellites (BhutanSat, 'Anand' from Pixxel, Thybolt two numbers from Dhruva Space, and Astrocast
- four numbers from Spaceflight USA) will be launched.

RH200, the versatile sounding rocket of ISRO, has registered its 200th consecutive successful launch
from the shores of Thumba, Thiruvananthapuram.
The Rohini Sounding Rocket (RSR) series have been the forerunners for ISRO's heavier and more
complex launch vehicles, with a continued usage even today for atmospheric and meteorological studies.

7. China Plans To Build Nuclear-Powered Moon Base In 6 Years
China plans to build its first base on the moon by 2028, ahead of landing astronauts there in subsequent
years as the country steps up its challenge to NASA's dominance in space exploration.

It will consist of a lander, hopper, orbiter and rover, all of which would be constructed by the Chang'e
6,7 and 8 missions.

Agnikul Cosmos, a space-tech start-up based in Chennai, has set up India's first-ever launchpad at a

9. India's SARAS radio telescope provides astronomers clues to the nature of Universe's first
stars and galaxies
Scientists have determined properties of radio luminous galaxies formed just 200 million years post the
Big Bang, a period known as the Cosmic Dawn thus providing an insight to the properties of the earliest
radio loud galaxies that are usually powered by supermassive black holes. SARAS was deployed over
Dandiganahalli Lake & Sharavati backwaters in Karnataka in 2020.
10. NASA's Artemis 1 Orion capsule sets new flight record
NASA's Artemis 1 Orion capsule has set a new space flight record for spacecraft designed to carry
humans by travelling 401,798 kilometers from Earth.

The record was previously held by Apollo 13 which logged the record on April 14, 1970 by travelling
400,171 kilometers.
The Artemis 1 Orion capsule was launched without any plan to break the record.
11. EasyJet, Rolls-Royce Test "World's 1st Hydrogen-Run" Aircraft Engine
Airline EasyJet and aircraft engine maker Rolls-Royce had successfully tested a hydrogen-powered
aircraft engine, in what the British companies described as a world first for aviation.
Green hydrogen is widely seen as better for the environment than jet fuel.
Green hydrogen for the tests had been generated using tidal and wind energy from Scotland's Orkney
Islands.

1. Goa Maritime Symposium 2022


Fourth edition of biennial Goa Maritime Symposium was conducted successfully by the Indian Navy at
Goa from 31 October to 01 November 2022.
The theme for GMS-22 was 'Maritime Security Challenges in the Indian Ocean Region: Converting
Common Maritime Priorities into Collaborative Mitigation Frameworks'.
2. Joint Military Training-2022 With Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF)
The 11th edition of the annual Joint Military Training (JMT) between the Indian Air Force (lAF) and the
Republic Singapore Air Force (RSAF) commenced at Air Force Station, Kalaikunda. The RSAF is
participating in JMT-2022 with F-16 aircraft, while the IAF would field the Su-30 MKI, Jaguar, MiG-29 and
LCA Tejas aircraft.
3. Indian Army has approved Project Sanction Orders for five Make -2 projects.
Make -2 projects are essentially Industry funded projects involving design, development and innovative
solutions by Indian vendors for development of prototypes. Indian Army is already progressing with 43
ongoing projects under the Make -2 procedure of Capital Acquisition.
4. Maritime Partnership Exercise with Royal Australian Navy Conclude in the Bay of Bengal

Admiral R Hari Kumar, Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) is on an official visit to Japan from 05 to 09 Nov
22, where he will witness the International Fleet Review (IFR) conducted by the Japan Maritime Self-
Defence Force (JMSDF) at Yokosuka to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of its formation.
6. Indian Army reserves Drone Kill Systems, IWTS for MSMEs, starups under Make II projects
The Indian Army has reserved Drone Kill System and Infantry Training Weapon Simulator (IWTS)
projects for MSMEs and startups under the Make II scheme.
To give a further boost to the ongoing projects, Indian Army approved Project Sanction Orders (PSOs) of
five Make II projects.
Each IWTS will facilitate training of 10 personnel at any one point of time.
7. DRDO launches testing, evaluation facility for sonar systems of Indian Navy
DRDO launched the hull module of the Submersible Platform for Acoustic Characterization and Evaluation
(SPACE) facility at Naval Physical and Oceanographic Laboratory (NPOL) in Kochi recently.
It is a state-of-the-art testing and evaluation facility for sonar systems developed for use by the Indian
Navy onboard various platforms, including ships, submarines and helicopters.
8. Indian Army launches single window facility 'Veerangana Sewa Kendra' for welfare and
grievances redressal of Veer Naris
Taking yet another step in leveraging technology, the Indian Army with a motto of 'Taking Care of Our
Own, No Matter What' launched this facility.
The VSK will be available as a service to the Indian Army Veterans Portal
www.indianarmyveterans.gov.in. The system caters to registering grievances with tracking, monitoring,
and regular feedback to the applicant.
9. Third edition of Pan-India Coastal Defence Exercise Sea Vigil-22 to commence in india

Economic Zone of India. It will involve all the Coastal States and Union territories. this exercise was
conceptualised in 2018 to validate various measures that have been instituted towards enhancing

India carried out a successful training launch of an Intermediate Range Ballistic Missile, Agni-3 from APJ
Abdul Kalam Island in Odisha. The successful test was part of routine user training launches carried out
under the aegis of the Strategic Forces Command. The launch was carried out for a predetermined range
and validated all operational parameters of the system.
15. Indian, Indonesian troops engage in joint training exercise 'GARUDA SHAKTI' in Karawang
A contingent of Indian Special Forces troops are currently engaged in a bilateral joint training Exercise
GARUDA SHAKTI with Indonesian Special Forces at Sangga Buana Training Area,in Karawang. The
Exercise is the eighth edition of the series of bilateral exercises under this banner and this is a part of
military-to-military exchange programs.

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) is celebrating 74th anniversary of its Raising Day on November 27th.

1. 'Steel Man of India' Jamshed Irani passes away at 86


Known as the 'Steel Man of India', former Tata Steel MD Dr Jamshed J Irani passed away. He was 86.
He was conferred the Padma Bhushan in 2007 for his contribution to industry.
2. Ela Bhatt, SEWA founder & women's activist, passed away
Born in Ahmedabad on September 7, 1933, Bhatt, a lawyer, first joined the legal department of Textile
Labour Association (TLA), and later founded SEWA in 1972, born out of the women's wing of TLA.
She received the Ramon Magsaysay award and the Padma Bhshan Awards.
3. Independent India's first voter Master Shyam Saran Negi passes away
The country's first voter 106-year old Master Shyam Saran Negi passed away on November 5, after a
prolonged illness. He was a resident of Kalpa in the Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh. Shyam Saran
Negi exercised his franchise 34 times in the life of 106 years which made him a conscious citizen.
4. RL Kashyap, Indian Mathematician & Professor Died
RL Kashyap dies on Nov 11 at age of 84. RL Kashyap was honored with Padma Shri in 2021 by the
President of India. In 1982, he represented the Kashyap Information Criterion (KIC) to select the best
model from a set of mathematical candidate models with different numbers of unknown parameters.
These parameters are adjusted to adapt the models to data.
5. Rasna founder Areez Pirojshaw Khambatta passes away at 85
Mr. Khambatta is the man behind the ubiquitous beverage that was served at all family gatherings,
birthday parties in the 80s and 90s, now available across 60 countries.
Khambatta was also the Chairman of Areez Khambatta Benevolent Trust and Rasna Foundation.

6. Babu Mani, former Indian football team captain, dies aged 59
Babu Mani, who was an integral part of the Indian football team in the 1980s, died after a prolonged
battle with liver-related issues. He was 59.Babu Mani made his India debut against Argentina in Kolkata
during the 1984 Nehru Cup and went on to play 55 matches for the country. He was also a part of the
first Indian squad to qualify for the Asian Football Confederation. Mani was also a part of Indian team
which won gold medals at the 1985 and 1987 Olympics.
7. Vikram S Kirloskar, Vice Chairperson of Toyota Kirloskar Motor, passes away
Vikram Kirloskar, Vice Chairman, Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt. Ltd and one of the stalwarts of India's
automotive industry who was also the face of Toyota in India passed away at the age of 64.
A 4th generation member of the group founded by Laxmanrao Kirloskar in 1888, Vikram Kirloskar joined

aimed at reducing the East Asian country's dependency on Russian oil imports.The refinery would be

6. GreenCell Express secures $40 million loan from ADB to produce 255 e-buses
The Asian Development Bank signed a $40 million financing package with GreenCell Express Private
Limited to develop 255 electric battery-powered buses (e-buses) to serve 5 million people a year on 56
intercity routes in India and enhance the safety of passengers, especially women, through improved
security features including panic buttons connected to command controls.

Consequently, CRISIL expects India's GDP growth to slow to 6 per cent in fiscal 2024, down from the 6.5
per cent estimated previously. The risks to the forecast remain tilted downwards, as per the report.

15. Goldman Sachs slashes India's GDP forecast for 2023 to 5.9%

Further, the firm expects headline retail inflation to ease to 6.1% next year from an estimated 6.8% this

Te Income Tax Department has launched the HARIT Aaykar (Hariyali Achievement Resolution by Income
Tax) initiative. Under this initiative, the Department resolves to increase the green cover by planting
trees and creating micro-forests in and around Income Tax Department's buildings and other public
areas.
2. UNFCCC (COP 27) scheduled to be held at Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.
The Environment minister of India, Shri Bhupender Yadav will attend the 27th Session of Conference of
Parties of the UNFCCC (COP 27) scheduled to be held at Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt from 6-18 November,
2022. India to invite all countries to join LiFE movement ' Lifestyle for Environment, a pro-people and
pro-planet effort. COP 27 is named as the COP of 'Implementation".
3. At Ramsar COP14, China Pledges to Expand and Protect Wetlands
China plans to incorporate 11 million hectares of wetlands into its national park system and implement
about 30 wetland restoration projects.
The pledges were made during 14th Meeting of the Conference of the Contracting Parties to the Ramsar
Convention on Wetlands, or Ramsar COP14, which is being jointly held in the central Chinese city of
Wuhan and Geneva in Switzerland. Ramsar Convention, named after city of Ramsar(Iran), where
convention was signed in 1971.
4. Portugal is one of 30 organizations/countries so far to join drought resilience alliance at
COP27
Spain and Senegal have launched the International Drought Resilience Alliance (IDRA), which is joined
by 29 countries, including China, the United States and Portugal, the European Union and 30
organisations.
The IDRA was launched by Spanish prime minister, Pedro Snchez, and Senegalese president, Macky Sall,
in Egypt, during the 27th UNCCC (COP 27). As of now, India is not a part of IDRA.
5. The International Solar Alliance (ISA) releases $1 trillion roadmap for scaling solar
investment, deployment
ISA has released a roadmap to mobilise $1 trillion by 2030 to meet the investment requirements for
scaling up deployment of solar power projects.
The roadmap- Our Solar Future: Roadmap to Mobilise $1 trillion by 2030- was made at the COP27 meet
in Sharm El Sheikh on Wednesday by the ISA, World Resources Institute (WRI) and Bloomberg
Philanthropies. International Solar Alliance is headquartered at Gurugram.
6. Cop 27: Breakthrough Agenda countries set priorities
Signatories to decarbonisation initiative, the Breakthrough Agenda, have mapped out 25 actions to be
taken by next year's UN Cop 28 climate summit, to speed the transition to a low-carbon economy.
The group has 47 signatories, including Australia, China, the UAE, the European Commission and all G7
nations.
India is also a signatory to the coalition.
7. UN announces high-tech, satellite-based global methane detection system
The Methane Alert and Response System (MARS) was launched at the 27th Conference of Parties
(COP27) to the UNFCCC in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.
MARS is a part of global efforts to slow climate change bytackling the global warming gas.
The new satellite-based system will now help governments detect methane emissions and tackle them.
Methane is an 80 times more potent greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide.
8. Nine New Countries Join Global Offshore Wind Alliance (GOWA) at COP27 in Egypt
Belgium, Colombia, Germany, Ireland, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway, the UK, and the US have joined
the Global Offshore Wind Alliance (GOWA) during COP27 in Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt.
The alliance aims to bring together governments, the private sector, international organisations and
other stakeholders to accelerate the deployment of offshore wind power. Denmark became home to the
world's first offshore wind farm in 1991.
9. The Adaptation and agriculture thematic day at COP27 in Egypt focused on how the world
will feed eight billion people.
Four initiatives were taken in today's session to address transformation of agrifood systems, the
integration of climate responses to peace and security, the improvement of the quality of life of the most
vulnerable in Africa by 2030, and delivery of healthy diets respectively.

India on Monday submitted its Long-Term Low Emission Development Strategy to the United Nations
Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), during the ongoing 27th Conference of Parties

11. Mumbai becomes the first city in South Asia to top CDP's climate action list
As Egypt hosted COP27, Mumbai has become the first Indian city to be added to the A-list in the 5th
Annual Cities Report published by CDP, a non-profit organisation that runs the world's environmental
disclosure system for companies, cities, states, and regions ' recognises the important role that cities
play in taking bold actions to mitigate and adopt to climate change.
12. India's proposal for enhance protection to Leith's softshell turtle adopted
India's proposal for enhancing protection status to Leith's softshell turtle was adopted at 19th meeting of
the CoP to the CITES held in Panama City from November 14 to 25.
Leith's softshell turtle is a large freshwater soft-shelled turtle which inhabits rivers and reservoirs. It is
endemic to peninsular India.
It is listed on Schedule IV of the Wild Life Act, 1972.
Leith's softshell turtle is now part of Appendix I of CITES from Appendix II.

1. AirAsia exits AirAsia India, sells 16.33% stake to Air India for Rs 156 cr
Malaysia-based AirAsia Group has exited AirAsia India by selling its remaining 16.67 per cent stake to
Tata Group-owned Air India for Rs 155.64 crore.
AirAsia Group said AirAsia India can use the "AirAsia" brand name for 12 months.
AirAsia India has been making losses since its first commercial flight on June 12, 2014.
2. LIC buys additional stake in Voltas for Rs 635 crore
Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has increased its shareholding in Voltas by buying an additional
2 per cent stake.
Voltas is engaged in the business of air conditioning, refrigeration, electro-mechanical projects as an EPC
(engineering, procurement and construction) contractor both in domestic and international market.
3. Tata Group To Acquire Bisleri For Rs 7,000 Cr, Bisleri Chairman Ramesh Chauhan
Tata Consumer is set to acquire India's largest packaged drinking water company, Bisleri, for an
estimated Rs 6,000-7,000 crore.
Chairman Ramesh Chauhan is aiming to disinvest Bisleri International to Tata Consumer Products three
decades after selling soft drink brands Thums Up, Gold Spot, and Limca to Coca-Cola.
4. Tata Sons announces merger of Air India and Vistara; Singapore Airlines to own 25.1% in
merged entity
The Singaporean carrier would emerge as a 25.1% owner of Air India, as part of a deal that would merge
its Vistara joint venture with Tata Sons, into Air India.
As part of the transaction, Singapore Airlines (SIA) will invest $252 mn. into Air India, Singapore Airlines
said, with the pair aiming to complete the merger by March 2024.

YES Bank has signed a share purchase agreement (SPA) with JC Flowers Asset Reconstruction Company

YES Bank's board of directors approved the sale of stressed loans worth Rs 48,000 crore to JC Flowers on
September 20 after receiving no other rival proposals.
6. NDTV founders Prannoy Roy, Radhika Roy resign from RRPRH board; transfer shares to
Adani holding company
News broadcaster New Delhi Television Ltd's (NDTV's) promoter firm RRPR Holding had transferred
shares constituting 99.5 per cent of its equity capital to Adani group-owned Vishvapradhan Commercial
(VCPL).
The transfer of shares will give the Adani group control over a 29.18 per cent stake in NDTV.

To promote shipment of nutri-cereals, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry through its apex
agricultural export promotion body, APEDA has prepared a comprehensive strategy to promote Indian

The use case for this pilot is settlement of secondary market transactions in government securities. Use

Uttar Pradesh's Ranipur Tiger Reserve has become the 53rd tiger reserve of India. The tiger reserve is
spread across over 529.36 sq km, of which the core area is 230.32 sq km and buffer area is 299.05 sq
km.
Besides this, it is also the fourth tiger reserve in Uttar Pradesh. Apart from Ranipur, the state has three
tiger reserves' Dudhwa, Pilibhit and Amangarh.
4. Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty win French Open men's doubles title
They defeated 25th ranked Lu Ching Yao and Yang Po Han of Chinese Taipei.

5. Centre approves Maharashtra's first Electronics Manufacturing Cluster at Ranjangaon, Pune
As part of its objective to strengthen the electronics manufacturing ecosystem in India, the Ministry of

cost of Rs 492.85 crores to be set up in Ranjangaon Phase III, near Pune in Maharashtra. Now 97% of all
mobile phones used by Indian customers were domestically manufactured.
6. Arunachal Pradesh to get Northeast's first fish museum under Pradhan Mantri Matsya
Sampad Yojana
A fish museum, the first of its kind in the Northeast, would soon be built in Arunachal Pradesh, Fisheries
Minister Tage Taki. The museum would be a part of the Integrated Aqua Park (IAP), sanctioned by the
Union Ministry of Fisheries. It will have all fish species of the state and serve as a training centre for
fisherfolks.
7. Genetic Engineering Appraisal Committee approves commercial cultivation of genetically
modified mustard
A genetically modified hybrid variety of mustard, also known as GM mustard, has received Genetic
Engineering Appraisal Committee's, a state-run biotech regulator, recommendation for commercial
cultivation. It is the first genetically modified crop in the country to get approval in two decades. GEAC
works under the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
8. Small sized loans of upto Rs 10 crores now account for 60% of bank loans
The share of smaller loans ' of up to Rs.10 crore ' in total loans has increased to 60 per cent in 2022
from 45 per cent in 2014 according to RBI deputy governor Michael Patra.
Industry has been a major recipient of bank credit but its share in total credit has come down from 60
per cent to 27 per cent during 1972-2022, broadly equal to that of services and retail loans.

UPI transactions in India surged 7.7 per cent to 730 crore and the total value stood at more than Rs
12.11 lakh crore in October from 678 crore worth Rs 11.16 lakh crore in September.
The number of instant interbank fund transfer through IMPS (Immediate Payment Service) in October
stood at 48.25 crore and the value was at Rs 4.66 lakh crore. NPCI is an umbrella organisation for all

68. Government notified E-waste (management) rules 2022
The government has notified E-waste (management) rules 2022, which will come into force from 1 April
2023 and apply to every manufacturer, producer refurbisher, dismantler and recycler of e-waste.
Producers of electronic goods have to ensure atleast 60% of their electronic waste is collected and
recycled by 2023 with targets to increase them to 70% and 80% in 2024 and 2025. 95% of e-waste in
India is recycled by the informal sector.
69. Centre amended Aadhaar Rules
The Centre amended Aadhaar regulations, advising card holders to update documents supporting their
information at least once every 10 years from the date of enrolment to ensure the accuracy of the data.

The amendment said users may update their documents to ensure the continued accuracy of their
information in the Central Identities Data Repository. More than 133 crore Aadhaar cards have been
issued as of June 2022.

18th edition of India-US joint military training exercise Yudh Abhyas will begin today in Auli, Uttrakhand.
The 15-day-long exercise will focus on high altitude and extremely cold climate warfare. Yudh Abhyas is

NASA plans to launch its new mega Moon rocket mission Artemis 1 tomorrow from Florida. After the two

Systems that will enable human exploration to the Moon and Mars.

India climbed 2 spots to bag 8th position out of 63 in the Climate Change Performance Index (CCPI)
2023.
The rankings by Germanwatch, NewClimate Institute and the Climate Action Network are based on how
well the countries are doing to halve their emissions by 2030 -- an essential aspect to keep the 1.5-
degree Celsius goal within reach and prevent dangerous climate change India held the tenth position in
2022 and 2021. It came in 9 place on the list in 2020.
118. Govt raises maximum tenure of PSU Banks' MD and CEO from 5 years to 10 years
The government has increased the maximum term for the MD and CEO of public sector banks (PSBs)
from 5 to 10 years, subject to a retirement age of 60, as per a government notification. This also applies
to all PSBs' full-time directors.
The amendment would be known as the Nationalised Banks (Management and Miscellaneous Provisions)
Amendment Scheme, 2022.
119. Manika Batra wins bronze at Asian Cup, first Indian woman to clinch medal at event
Manika Batra became the first Indian woman to win a medal in the ITTF-ATTU Asian Cup after shocking
world number six Hina Hayata of Japan in the bronze playoff.
The $200,000 event featured the top 16 players in the men's and women's singles from the continent
based on world rankings and qualifications.
Besides the historic bronze, Manika won $10,000 as prize money. The 33rd Asian Cup took place in
Bangkok from 17 November to 19th November 2022.

121. Health ministry includes coronary stents in National List of Essential Medicines, 2022
After considering all aspects of coronary stents, it has been recommended that coronary stent is an
essential medical device which has been notified as a 'drug' under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 &
therefore, it should be included in National List of Essential Medicines (NLEM), 2022,".
This move will help make these life-saving medical devices more affordable.
122. Government withdraws export duty on steel
Government has withdrawn export duty on steel. It has withdrawn the export duty on iron ores lumps
and Fines below 58 person iron content, iron ore pellets and the specified steel products including pig
iron. The import duty concessions on Anthracite, coking coal, coke and semi coke and ferronickel have
also been withdrawn. The measures will provide a fillip to the domestic steel industry and boost exports.
123. ICICI Bank, Bajaj Finance see highest FPI inflows in July-September
ICICI Bank and Bajaj Finance saw the highest foreign portfolio investor (FPIs) inflows, at Rs 64,991 crore
and Rs 25,708, respectively, during the three-month period ended September this year. Conversely,
Reliance Industries and Tata Consultancy Services saw the highest FPI outflows at Rs 44,622 crore and
Rs 17,838 crore, respectively, during this period.

126. RBI allows HDFC Bank, Canara Bank to open vostro account for Rupee trade with Russia
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) allowed HDFC Bank Ltd and Canara Bank Ltd to open a special "vostro
account" for trade in Rupees with Russia.
Vostro accounts are accounts a bank holds on behalf of another, often foreign bank, and this forms a key
part of correspondent banking.
127. National Payments Corporation of India in talks with Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on
volume cap deadline to 30%
National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) is in talks with the Reserve Bank on the implementation
of its proposed December 31 deadline for limiting the volume cap of players to 30 per cent.
At present, there is no volume cap. So, two players -- Google Pay and PhonePe -- account for a market
share of about 80 percent. Dilip Asbe is the MD & CEO of National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).
128. Shortfall of 80% docs, specialists across country's community health centres: RBI data
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI), in the seventh edition of its statistical publication titled 'Handbook of
Statistics on Indian States 2021-22', stated that as per the health ministry data, community health
centres across the country lack around 79.90% of mandatory health specialists including surgeons,
OB&GY, physicians and paediatricians.

133. Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation settles claims worth Rs 8,516.6
crore in FY22: Report
According to the DICGC's annual report, of the ' 8,516.6 crore claims settled by the DICGC, Rs 5,059.2
crore were for liquidated and merged banks, and Rs 3,457.4 crore were for banks subject to the RBI's All
Inclusive Directions (AID).
The Deposit Insurance Scheme covers all commercial banks in India, including foreign bank branches,
local area banks, regional rural banks. The DICGC, a wholly owned subsidiary of the RBI, insures bank
deposits.
134. SBI continues to lead debit card market, HDFC leads credit cards for October 2022
The country's largest lender, State Bank of India continues to dominate the debit card, market in
October 2022, with a 29% share, revealed data by 1 Lattice (previously PGA Labs).
In the credit cards market, India's largest private sector bank, HDFC bank led the share with a whopping
21 per cent.
The lead was followed by SBI Card (19%), ICICI Bank (17%), Axis Bank (11%).

136. Government approves continuation of interest subvention scheme for short-term crop
loans
The government has approved the continuation of interest subvention scheme for short-term loans of up
to Rs 3 lakh for agriculture and allied activities availed through Kisan Credit Card (KCC) during the
current and the next fiscals.
An additional interest subvention of 3 per cent per annum is provided to farmers who repay loans in
time.
Under the scheme, farmers get loan at a concessional interest rate of 7 per cent.

The bilateral training exercise 'Austra Hind 22' between contingents of the Indian Army and the

The Indian Army is represented by troops from the Dogra Regiment. The exercise will be a yearly event
conducted alternatively in India and Australia.
143. SEBI brings in buying, selling of mutual funds under insider trading rules
SEBI has amended norms to bring buying and selling of mutual fund units under the ambit of insider
trading rules.
At present, insider trading rules are applicable to dealing in securities of listed companies or those
proposed to be listed, when in possession of Unpublished Price Sensitive Information (UPSI) whereas
mutual funds are excluded from the def of securities.

"The pilot would cover select locations in closed user group (CUG) comprising participating customers

issued in the same denominations that paper currency and coins are currently issued. It would be
distributed through intermediaries, i.e., banks".
147. Kirit Parikh Panel recommends $4-6.50/unit gas price band for old fields
The government-appointed gas price review panel headed by Kirit Parikh has summited its
recommendations to the Oil Ministry. The panel's suggestion on gas prices includes removing caps on gas
prices in three years. Also, it has recommended a price band of $4-6.50/unit for gas from old fields.
