Presente Progresive Tense
Se utiliza para expresar acciones que tiene lugar en el presente, en el mismo momento
en el que está enunciando la frase. Se forma con el presente del verbo (to be) más el
verbo de la acción en gerundio (infinitivo + Ing.). Usamos la palabra Now en el
complemento de la oración cuando lo requiera.
Para formar el progresivo de los verbos debemos considerar las siguientes reglas
gramaticales:
RULE 1:
Do= doing / work = working / travel =traveling / paint=painting / read- reading
Eat – eating / clean- cleaning / walk- walking / drink- drinking / cook- cooking
RULE 2:
Se suprime la vocal “E” para agregar la terminación (ING)
RULE 3
A los verbos de la sílaba que terminen en consonante, antecedida por una vocal, se
duplica la última consonante más la terminación (Ing.).
Run = running / sit = sitting / swim = swimming / stop = stopping / put- putting
Let = letting / get = getting / rob – robbing / cut = Cutting / shut - shutting
RULE 4:
Las letras X,W,Y,Z no se duplican por ser una excepción.
RULE 5
Al verbo LIE se cambia por LYING

La forma interrogativa del presente continuo o progresivo se forma
cambiando de lugar al sujeto y al verbo BE ( am , is , are)

WH- QUESTIONS IN PRESENT PROGRESSIVE
I.- USE WHAT: se usa esta palabra para preguntar por la acción que está realizando
un determinado sujeto, ya sea en singular o plural. Siempre va acompañada del verbo:
do (Ing.).

III.USE OF WHO
Se usa para preguntar por el sujeto quien está realizando una determinada
acción. Esta palabra interrogativa siempre va a preguntar en singular, es decir
con el verbo TO BE (is). Tiene como significado en castellano.
