LEARNING EPISODE 5

PREPARING THE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT:

AN OVERVIEW

SUBMITTED TO: Ma’am Arsenia M. Bayongan

SUBMITTED BY: Jamille Nympha C. Balasi

TARGET YOUR INTENDED LEARNING OUTCOMES
At the end of this TARGET Learning Episode, I must be able to:
 Revisit the concept of learning environment in the
context of the current teaching and learning situation.

PARTICIPATE AND ASSIST

What will you do to assist your mentor in setting up a conducive learning environment
in the following conditions?

1. Bulletin Board Display I will support my mentor in developing a supportive learning

environment by giving her the necessary suggestions, relating ideas about various
topics, and extending her innovations that are appropriate for the twenty-first century.
In order to establish a supportive learning environment, I will also assist my mentor by
doing original research and making a poster. Because I am aware that a bulletin board
can serve as "another instructor" who reflects new teachings, aids students in
understanding new subjects, and challenges them to participate in novel ways.

2. Small Group Discussion I'll ask her if I can take the lead and start this action. I will
prepare all pertinent information and topics. Additionally, I will give them enough time
and space so they can think things through and participate in debates. It will help
students spend their time more effectively and be more productive.

3. Checking class attendance in a virtual classroom (i.e google meet or zoom) In order
to monitor attendance more quickly, I shall become familiar with their names and faces. In
order to save time and help the students focus on their lesson effectively, I will do my
mentor the honor of checking the attendance while he or she is presenting his or her
lecture.

Notice

Learning Environment 1:
 What have you notices of the display in the class bulletin board? What
message does it convey?
The display was straightforward, had a crystal-clear message, and was
free of grammatical errors. Additionally, all of the messages were for
educational objectives, including emergency hotlines, trivia, and facts.

 What makes it attractive to the learners?

The message it carries is accurate and leaves them with a good
impression. And because of its simplicity, it is simpler to comprehend and read
from a distance of five feet away from the display.

 Does it help in the learning process? How?

Yes, since display boards are used by teachers to highlight images
related to the lesson's topic, which benefits kids' education by promoting visual
learning. Display boards in classrooms contribute to a student's indirect
learning by completing their psychological and emotional education. Giving
students a sense of purpose and value for their education is accomplished by
using display boards in the classroom to showcase their efforts.

Learning Environment 2:
 If the teacher is using the distance delivery learning through modules,
where is most likely the learning space of the students?
When it comes through modular, student may find some difficulties in
their learning area because it’s not easy to learn new things on their
own especially when it is a new lesson or topic. And student doesn’t
have all the materials needed to make an advance research. But for
me, it’s a new challenge that may help them boost their skill and be an
independent student and be academically active

 Can you describe?

Having modular needs an experience on that area especially to a topic.
it needs a time for explanation and inquires in order to make an
assurance for any clarification towards a certain topic.

 How can you as a teacher help make such environment conducive for
learning?

1. CREATE A CLASSROOM THAT ENCOURAGES INTERACTION

Arguments and debates encourage critical thinking and inventiveness, two abilities
that kids should start developing in school. Additionally, planned participation enables
more reserved students to speak up in circumstances where they might not otherwise.

2. MAKE THE BEST OUT OF YOUR CLASSROOM SPACE

The majority of a student's time in school, which is a significant amount of time, is
spent in the classroom. As a result, the layout and design of the classroom should
motivate students to work hard. Instead of the typical classroom layout, think of using
several areas of the space, each serving a different function.

3. HAVE AN AWARDS SECTION

The finest learning comes when they are motivated, and celebrating successes is a
great way to keep kids fired up. The majority of educational awards are typically
earned by top students, which discourages and excludes students who perform less
well. In order to motivate and respect your weaker students, it is a great idea to
develop a customized rewards system for your classroom.
ANALYZE
The examples above, describe two contrasting situations. The first shows that the
learner are in same room or space while in the second, the learners maybe in different
learning spaces like homes, study hubs or extreme cases parks or under the trees.

As a teacher, in which of the two situation would you prefer to manage for learning?
Choose between Learning environment 1 or learning environment 2.

Explain your choice: why? I would choose Learning Environment 1, first off all you can see
the presence of your students and collaborate with them anytime anywhere. In addition, there
are different types of topic where student can expand their thought on different fields or
subject. Furthermore student may put their insight and comment for any clarification and may
add some additional information, and lastly it is fun and interactive base on my own opinion
and observation.

REFLECT

Base on my noticing and analysis, I realized that

a) It is more fun and interactive when dealing with student physically

b) Less haggard and, troubles and difficulties can be experience when on face to
face approach.
c) The advantage of face-to-face learning over internet learning is that it enables
kids to engage in a variety of hands-on activities while connecting with their
peers.
d) As a teacher, it is my responsibility to provide the best environment for
the children to feel and experience a conducive learning environment.

learning environment.
g) As a teacher, it is my
REFLECT

What solution can I think of to solve the problem?

For me as a teacher I will focus first on my students needs in order to break barrier or
any obstacle that may lead them to hard or tough way of learning. Maintain discipline which is
very important to us in order to make a flexible learning. I will convert all take home activities
or any assignment into engaging activities inside the school.

PLAN

How should I do it?

The needs of my students which are lack of materials on learning are one of the
majorities’ problems nowadays, so to limit this circumstance an actual learning is compulsory
where student can feel your present to lessen the pressure on learning especially on their
materials. And converting assignment into engaging activities inside the classroom is one of
the best way to promote a highly active classroom and environment where student will stick
their understanding inside the school and let them work their own things at home without not
giving them any activities because it is their time to spend it wisely with their peers and family.
That is a sign of respect to all hardworking students.

TARGET YOUR INTENDED LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the end of this TARGET Learning Episode, I must be able to:
 Revisit the concept of learning environment in the
context of the current teaching and learning situation.

Learning occurs not only in the school but also in other settings and areas of life.
Nevertheless, the essence of what one acquires in life takes place within those four walls. This is
particularly true when it comes to laying the groundwork for children's learning.

The following characteristics will be highlighted in my supportive learning environment as

a future teacher: Flexibility is the first. In order to establish a lot of open, roomy activity zones
where students can work in groups, I propose to change the furniture in my classroom. I will also
have clipboards and whiteboards available for anyone who don't have access to a table or desk.
Additionally, when appropriate, I will employ outdoor learning areas. I will also put their work and
the steps used to create it up on the wall in order to inspire students to study. In our final
meeting, we'll talk about the kinds of spaces kids choose for their learning environments.

An other trait is openness. I'd like to use kid-made art to decorate the walls. The kids' self-
esteem will rise as a result. For instance, setting up a comfortable reading area for six-year-olds
will inspire them to read more. Furthermore,

By creating shared open areas with other classes, I think I can assist the kids attain their
full physical, mental, and emotional potential.

The availability of resources is the third factor. As a prospective teacher, I must keep in
mind that maximizing my resources will not only help a child's learning and development, but also
save me time and money. I'm going to authorize myself to get the materials I need to enhance my
child's educational experience. Examples include movies, PowerPoint slideshows, worksheets,
cabinets and files, novels, and dictionaries. This helps me and my students stay organized while
also enabling them to get the most out of their educational experience.

The fourth choice is a real classroom. I will make sure that the placement of desks and
work areas, the aesthetics and appeal of bulletin boards, and the storage of materials and supplies
are all done properly in my future role as a teacher. The fact that the area is both clean and secure
will be evident to my kids.

The last environment is the psychological one. I want to make my classroom friendly and
accommodating for kids when I become a teacher. They should talk about their opinions and
feelings regarding something. I'll make sure I can live up to their expectations as well.

A suitable learning environment consists of various crucial variables in addition to having

the proper school furniture supplies. When these components are considered as a whole, they
should provide an environment in which students may openly communicate their thoughts to
