LESSON PLAN IN ENGLISH II

I. OBJECTIVE: Given the different activities the children will be able to do the following with at least 75%
accuracy:
a. Define the meaning of alphabetical order.
b. Arrange words alphabetically using the first letter.
c. Participate actively in the given activities.

II. SUBJECT MATTER: Arranging Words Alphabetically, Let’s Begin Reading In English Grade II, page 7
Materials: flashcards, activity sheets, manila paper, cartolina strips, marking pen, paper tape, ball

A. Preparation

a. Checking of Attendance:
Please say present if your name will be called. Pupils answer.

b. Motivation:
Let us have a game. I have here pictures and a ball, Pupils do as told.
while singing the alphabet song, we will pass this
ball. As the song stops, the person holding the ball
will give the name of the picture that I am holding.

The different pictures are:


Picture of a dog
Picture of a camel
Picture of an apple
Picture of a bell

You have guess the names of the pictures correctly.

B. Presentation:

(Modelling)
I wrote the names of the different pictures and I
posted it in the board. I will read the words first
and you will read after me.

If we want to arrange this words alphabetically, we


must look at the first letter of each word. apple

What is the word that starts with letter b?
dog
What is the word that starts with letter c?

(As the pupils answer, teacher arranges the words


posted in the board.)

In the alphabetical lists of letters letter A is the first


letter and it is followed by letters B, C, and D. As
you can see the words are now arrange in the
alphabetical order.

(Guided Practice)
Let us have another example. I have here set of tiger, bunny, horse, mango
words, let us first read these words together.
pencil, oval, gray, chair
Set 1: tiger, bunny, horse, mango

Set 2: pencil, oval, gray, chair

Let us try to arrange these sets of words in


alphabetical order. (Teacher calls a pupil to arrange
the words by set.) We are going to arrange the words in alphabetical
order.

C. Practice:

(Independent Practice)
Let us have group work, I will divide you into four
groups. Choose a leader and a secretary.

Each group will be given envelops, inside are


different sets of words. Arrange the words in
alphabetical order. Paste the word in the manila
paper and post in in the board after.

Let us follow the rubrics while doing the activity.
