    • For dysrhythmias is typically 150 mg in a 100mls IV D5% given over 10 
    minutes. 
    • Both can be followed by a 360 mg slow infusion over 6 hours 
    • then a maintenance infusion of 540 mg over 18 hours.

    Calculation – Dopamine 
    The stock of Dopamine is 200mg/5mL
    ▪ The doctor prescribed Dopamine 5 mcg/kg/min 
    ▪ Patient’s body weight is 50kg 
    ▪ Instruction is given to dilute 3mg x BW (usual formula used) in 50 mls D5%
    A) Calculate how many mL to be withdrawn from the vial. 
    B) Calculation the infusion rate (in mL/h)

    a) _3 mg x 50     x  5mL  = 3.75mL  b)  5 mcg x 50 kg x 60 x 50 mL  = 5 mL/hr
