number of formed and welded vertical panel sections, incorporating circuit
protective devices and other associated equipment as indicated.
3. Bolt all fastenings between vertical sections.
4. Completely enclose switchboard on front, sides, top and rear with
removable sheet steel plates minimum 1.5 mm thickness.
5. Provide bolted frame rear to support and house cables and other items.
6. Provide bolted frames and insulating blocks to support and brace main,
normal and emergency buses for short circuit stresses as indicated on
drawings.

D. Buses:
1. Make main horizontal copper buses and connections between main bus and
switching device of sufficient size to limit temperature rise to 65 over
average room air temperature.
2. Provide main horizontal bus of rating indicated, full size continuous with
provision for future extension.
3. Neutral bus: Full size, continuous with provision for future extension.
4. Tin plate each main bus and tap connection over full surface of joints.
5. Current density of all buses shall not exceed 1000 amperes per square inch
for copper bus bars (1.5 amperes per sq mm).
6. Tightly fasten main bus connections to insure maximum conductivity.
7. Properly brace feeder circuit bussing.
8. Provide continuous electrolytic copper for switchboard. Solidly ground to
each structure near bottom and solidly ground to main metallic cold water
piping. In service section provide ground to neutral bus disconnecting link.

E. Flush mount metering equipment on hinged door.

16425 - 3

F. Do not use cabling inside switchboard as substitute for bus bar conductors,
unless otherwise indicated.
G. Provide each circuit with engraved phenolic nameplate with white cut letters to
designate purpose of circuit and red indicating light to show circuit is
energized.

H. Finish: Two coats of light gray enamel on all surfaces. Rustproof all sheet
steel parts after fabrication, prior to painting.

2.03 METERING EQUIPMENT

A. Meters: Circular scale, flush or semi flush, switchboard type, 250 degree, non-
parallax scale.
1. Shatterproof case 10 cm minimum diameter or 15 cm square with
conventional scale.
2. Scales practically uniform with accuracy of one percent, divided in multiples
of 10 or 100 of standard scale, with scales matching current and potential
transformer ratings.

B. Voltmeter: Instrument type with range of 0-600V with selector switch (rotary
transfer switch) 3 positions for line to line voltage, and "off" position.

C. Ammeter: Instrument type with a range as indicated on drawings with selector

switch (rotary transfer switch) with 3 positions for phase currents and "off"
position.

D. Provide current transformers (CT) and potential transformer according to capacities

and ratios shown on drawings.

2.04 MAIN AND TIE DEVICES
