Introduction

This lesson describes the role of Information Technology in


dynamic business. The student will learn about the Business
Domain, business process, and various domain in software
industry. The student will also learn the importance of IT in
business.
Business Domain

Business Domain refers to real-world features of an IT solution


(e.g. Airline Booking, Shopping app, Billing). Business domain tells
your business process requirements and acceptance criteria for
the system.
Business Domain Features

For example, if you happen to be building a solution for an


online shopping, you might create high-level divisions in your
overall system as follows:

require innovative IT solutions. Example is a web-based
systems that facilitate transactions with customers and other
business partners. Applying Information Systems eliminate
repetitive tasks and increase accuracy.

services that people use to manage, communicate, and share information.

An information system combines information technology, people, and data to


support business requirements. It gathers, store and process data for the authorized
persons. An important aspect with information systems is that it can be customized
depending on the users need.
Business information systems are developed by people who are technically qualified,
business-oriented, and highly motivated. Successful developers also must be good
communicators with strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
