OYEKU MEJI

1. Ifa says that the person for whom this Odu is revealed shall
be blessed with prosperity and wealth. This person will also
be blessed with many children in life. Ifa advises this person
to offer ebo with four pigeons, four hens, eight rats, eight
fish and money. He/she also needs to feed Ifa with four
rats, four fish and one hen. On this, Ifa says:

Ifa’s message for Alapaniyayi
He whose money had spilled into his house
And had also spilled into his farm
He was advised to offer ebo
He complied
The front of Alapa is filled with money
The back of Alapa is filled with children
My front here is filled with money
And my back here is filled with children

2. Ifa says that the person for whom this Odu is revealed shall
be blessed with many children in life. All the children will
become great even before the father dies. Ifa advises this
person to offer ebo with eight rats, two hens and money.
He/she also need to feed Ifa with one hen. On this, Ifa says:

Oye lohun-un
Oye sese nlaa bo loke
Won se bi ojumo lo nmo

The twilight has just appeared in the sky
They mistaken it for the dawn of the day
Ifa’s message for the fish
The offspring of the deep sea
She was advised to offer ebo

There is no where that we will find a river
That we won’t find the fish

The children of the fish are too plentiful

3. Ifa says that it foresees the Ire of child bearing for the person
for whom this Odu is revealed. The children would become
very beautiful, law abiding and obedient children. They will
also be useful to their community. Ifa advises this person to
offer ebo with eight rats, eight fish, two guinea-fowls and
money. on this, Ifa says

Lojo ti won nlo ree fomo rere ba’ra won sere
Ebo ni won ni ko waa se

Translation
The river bank here
And the river bank at the other side
Ifa’s message for Olofa
And also for Olupo
When they were going to engage in the play that will lead to
production of great children
They were advised to offer ebo
They complied
It is good children that people give birth to at Ofa
It is also good children that the indigene of Ipo give birth to
The precession of Oyeku has become too

4. Ifa says that it foresees the blessing of the fruit of the womb
for a couple where this Odu is revealed. The children that
they will give birth to will become useful to themselves, their
family and their community. Ifa advises the couple to offer
ebo with eight rats, eight fish, two guinea-fowls and money.
on this, Ifa says:

A bu fun Ifunnfun
Tii somo ikanyin won lenje-lenje

Translation
Koko igi male saga
Agba igi male domoyon
Ifa’s message for Oyin the honey bee
And for Ado the Sugar sweetener
And for Ifunfun, the dolce
Who is the last among them
They were all advised to offer ebo
They complied
As there are activities in the home of Oyin
So also are there functions in the home of Ado
Ifunfun is not lacking behind in anyway whatsoever

5. Ifa says that it foresees the ire of accomplishment for the


person for whom this Odu is revealed. Ifa assures this
person that untimely death will be removed and cast out of
his/her life. Ifa advises this person that if possible he/she
needs to concentrate on Ifa work or herbal work as
profession. Ifa advises this person to offer ebo with one
matured he-goat and money. on this, Ifa says:

The elbow cannot be used to touch one’s chest
Ifa’s message for the man who postpone death
Who is also known as Oyeku
When he was going to remove death from the head of an
Awo
He was advised to offer ebo

Now what will remove death from the head of an Awo

Ifa is it that will remove death from the head of an Awo

6. Ifa says that it foresees the ire of long life and victory for this
person. Ifa advises him/her to offer ebo with one matured
he-goat and money. He/she also need to feed ifa with either
one hen or one she goat. On this, Ifa says:

When going to remove death from the head of his children
He was advised to offer ebo
He complied
Ifa please cast death away from the head of an Awo

7. Ifa says that it foresees the ire of long life and prosperity for
the person for whom this Odu is revealed. Ifa says that
there is no aspect of life that this person will lack anything.
Ifa advises his/her to offer ebo with two pigeons, two hens,
two guiunea-fowls and money. He/she also need to feed
Obatala with 16 snails. On this, Ifa says:

Translation
If we live long on earth
We will become wealthy
If we do not die young
We bound to become prosperous
Nobody wakes up early in the morning
And know how we have chosen our destiny
Ifa’s message for the Old Man
When going on military campaign to Igbomina
He was advised to offer ebo
He complied
You will receive his support, O Olupo
The man of old

8. Ifa says that it foresees the Ire of wealth, children,


accomplishment and elevation for the person for whom this
Odu is revealed. Infact, Ifa foresees all Ire of life for this
person. Ifa advises him/her to offer ebo with eight rats, eight
fish, two pigeons, two hens and money. on this, Ifa says:

Opa gbongbo nii siwaju agbon’nini


Ese mejeeji nii jijadu ona gborogan-gborogan
Dia fun Alapa-Niyayi
Omo owo ponle, owo ya soko
Ebo ni won ni ko waa se
O gb’ebo, o ru’bo
Iwaju Alapa, Aje

Translation
The staff is it that precedes the early dew clearer
And the two feet compete for space on the road
Ifa’s message for Alapa-Niyayi
He who has so much money at home
That the money spilled to the farm
He was advised to offer ebo
He complied
The front of Alapa is filled with wealth
And his back is filled with children

9. Ifa says that it foresees and all encompassing Ire for the
person for whom this Odu is revealed. Ifa says that this
person needs to pray to Ifa every morning and all his/her
wishes shall be granted. Ifa advises this person to offer ebo
with four rats, four fish, two pigeons, two hens, two guinea-
fowls, two roosters and money. on this, Ifa says:

Opele lo yo tan, lo dakun dele

Translation
The Opele is it that after feeding itself to the brim, it places
its stomach on the ground
Ifa’s message for Peregede
The mother of the day is dawn
She was advised to offer ebo
She complied
The day of wealth had done for me today
Peregede you are the mother of the day is dawn
The day of spouse had done for me today
Peregede you are the mother of the day is dawn
The day of children had done for me today
Peregede you are the mother of the day is dawn
The day of property had done for me today
Peregede you are the mother of the day is dawn
The day of all Ire of life had done for me today
Peregede you are the mother of the day is dawn

10. Ifa says that the person for whom this Odu is revealed
shall perform wonders in life. Ifa says that he/she needs not
bother about backbiters and slanderers. It is in their
presence that he/she shall achieve all his/her heart’s
desires. Ifa advise this person to offer ebo with three
pigeons, three roosters and money. he/she also needs to
feed Ifa as appropriate.

A bride doll does not make her arms akimbo to greet
others
And a ram doll does not eat grasses
Nobody is considered beautiful in Apa land
If somebody is beautiful in Apa
He is usually compared to a tree in the forest
They will say this child is as beautiful as a doll
Ifa’s message for Isaga
He who mounts wonders upon wonders
And mounts marvelous things upon marvelous things
He was advised to offer ebo
He complied
The wonders performed by Ifa cannot be destroyed
It is in perfect condition by the sea shore
My destiny shall be in perfect condition
At the feet of the king of all Orisa

11. Ifa says that it foresees the Ire of long life and victory
for the person for whom this Odu is revealed. Instead for
this person to die, his/her enemies are going to be one who
will be snatched away by death. Ifa advises this person to
offer ebo with three roosters and money. He/she also needs
to get one Agogo, gong, and place it beside his/her Ifa.
He/she also needs to feed Obatala as appropriate.

The twilight is just appearing in the sky
It is mistaken for the dawn of the day
Ifa’s message for Agogo Sekete, the Gong
The child of Orisa Gbowuji, Obatala
When he and the stick were enemies
He was advised to offer ebo
He complied
The stick that boast that it will kill Agogo
It can longer kill Agogo
It is Opa the stick that died
And Agogo is spared

12. Ifa says that this person shall be honoured with a title
his/her life. Ifa advises this person to offer ebo with four
pigeons, four ducks and money. he/she also need to feed
his/her Ori with one pigeon, one duck, and palm-oil. On this,
Ifa says:

Oye lohun-un
Oye sese nla latoke e bo
Omo araye won sebi ojumo lo mo
Dia fun Oloyee gele
Omo Ori-ire tii ru bi ose
Ebo ni won ni ko waa se
O gb’ebo, o ru’bo

Ifa’s message for Oloyee-gele
Owner of the good luck and good Ori that foams like
soap
He was advised to offer ebo
He complied
How does the Ori of a title holder behaves
The Ori of a title holders swells

13. Ifa says that it foresees the Ire of long life and victory
for person for whom this Odu is revealed. Ifa says that this
person will live long and will overcome his/her enemies. Ifa
advises this person to offer ebo with three roosters and
money. he/she also needs to feed Ifa with one hen. After
this, he/she needs to procure Akannamagbo leaves and
pound them into fine paste. The paste will then be mixed
with soap for this person to bath with. On this, Ifa says:

Translation
Rapidly do we spit saliva
With relish do we eat bananas
After eating bananas
It will be cool and comfortable in the stomach
Ifa’s message for Alaworo Aguntan
When people declared that she will never live long on
earth
She was advised to offer ebo
She complied
She declared that together with them
We shall live on this land for long time to come
Together with them we shall step on this land till our old
age
Akannamagbo leaves will never miss a year without
growing

14. Ifa says that it foresees prosperity that is coming from


heaven for the person for whom this Odu is revealed. Ifa
advises this person to offer ebo with three pigeons and
plenty of bananas. He/she also needs to feed Ifa with plenty
of bananas and to feed his/her Ori with plenty of bananas.
On this, Ifa says:

Subuade o romo okun o keriri-keriri


O ro yunkun ro yungba
O royungba ro gbungbunnda
Ojo bale mule rin gbingbingbindin
Dia fun Eji-Oye
Ti yoo torun la waye bi oba ereke
Ebo ni won ni ko waa se
O gb’ebo, o ru’bo
Orun lemiti morii diede e temi bo waye

Olomo atorun gbiwa bo

Translation
Subuade o romo okun o keriri-keriri
O ro yunkun ro yungba
O royungba ro gbungbunnda
Ojo bale mule rin gbingbingbindin
Ifa’s message for Eji-Oye
Who will bring his prosperity from heaven and succeed
tremendously on earth
He was advised to offer ebo
He complied
It is from heaven that I have brought my Ori of comfort
into the world
Here comes bananas
Who had brought good destiny from heaven

15. Ifa says that the person for whom this Odu is revealed
must never go into farming. Ifa says that this person cannot
succeed outside of where he/she was born. It is not
advisable for him/her to go and live in another country
because his/her success is where he/she is born. Ifa says
that this person will enjoy the benevolence of Ifa more than
all is/are contemporaries. Ifa advises this person to offer
ebo with two pigeons, two guinea-fowls, two ducks and
money. on this, Ifa says:
Ahere pe loko ma mere dele
Dia fun Alapa niyaye
Omo ajola Ifa gbindigbindi bi eni nlayin
Ebo ni won ni ko waa se
O gb’ebo, o ru’bo
Ko pe, ko jinna
E ba ni ire gbogbo

Translation
The barn stayed in the farm for a long time but could
not bring any profit to the house
Ifa’s message for Alapa-niyaye
He who enjoys the benefit of Ifa as someone leaking
pure honey
He was advised to offer ebo
He complied
Before long, not too far
Join us in the midst of all ire of life

16. Ifa says that the person for whom this Odu is revealed
is too much in a hurry. This person cannot wait for Ifa to
perform wonders in his/her life. Ifa says that if this person
continues with this attitude, he/she will receive no blessing in
life. Ifa also says that it foresees the ire of a spouse for this
person. Ifa advises this person to offer ebo with one
matured he-goat, one matured she-goat and money. on this,
Ifa says:
