    OPERATION & MAINTENANCE OF 20 MVA OILTYPE 66/33 KV


    TRANSFORMER

    1. Purpose

    This procedure provides detailed information on the process of Operation & Maintenance
    of Transformer.

    2. Scope / Area
    Transformer -03 & 04 ( 66 /33 KV ) located at 66 KV switch yard .
    3 Requirements:

    Safety Gears ,& PPE’S LOTO Kit , Hand gloves ,


    Earthing Rods, Barricaded Tape,
    Safety PPE’S, Safety belts

    Tools/Equipment Tools and Tackles


    MCB 4 Pole /10 A
    Extension board
    Multimeter
    Vacuum cleaner
    Megger
    Spanners
    Testing Kit .

    4.Preventive maintenance of Transformer:

    4.1 Before carrying out the maintenance

    1.Take the necessary permit


     Safety work permit issuing authority will be the station incharge (Rajesh power /GIFT
    Manager ) . If Both are not available then General /Shift Engineer will issue the work
    permit after discussion with the Station incharge

    2.. Ensure that Lock out Tag out process has been completed.
    Concern/affected/interrelated departments are communicated and required
    PPE’s has to be used before starting the preventive maintenance.

    4.2 Stop Procedure :-

    Note : All the operations of breakers through ( both ON & OFF ) SCADA System only.
    While doing the operation from SCADA ensure that the LCP should be in Remote
    mode .Incase of any difficulties then go for manual operation either from BCU or
    LCP Panel.

    1. Put off the 33KV Incomer -01 (GIS ) breaker . & keep in Test position. Do the lock out
    and tag out .
    2. Put off the 66/33 KV Transformer -01 , SF-6 circuit breaker through SCADA system
    or from C&R Panel . (Local mode )
    3. Keep the RTCC Panel selector switches in independent mode
    4. Open the transformer -01 Isolators in from 66 kv Siemens GIS breakers from
    SCADA /LCP
    5. Discharge the transformer windings with Earth Rod . Connect the earth rod
    permanently in all phases till the work permit is returned.
    6. Start doing the maintenance activity .

    4.3 Start Procedure :-

    1 Return the safety work permit /Line clear permit after the work is over .
    2 Collect all tools and tackles from the maintenance place & ensure no tools & tackles
    left inside the Transformer LV chamber and at top of the transformer
    3 Remove all Local earthing and LOTO.
    4 Close the transformer -01 Isolators from SCADA /LCP .
    5. Keep the RTCC Panel selector switches in Normal mode that is Master /Follower
    mode. And ensure both transformers tap positions are same
    6. Put ON the 66/33 KV Transformer -01 breaker through SCADA /BCU/LCP..
    7. Check the Line voltage in the 33 KV Incomer -01 from MFM meter .It should be
    33KV between all phases.
    8. Switch ON the 33 kv incomer -01 breaker .

    5. Maintenance Procedures
    5.1 Daily and Monthly Checks (Online checks- No shutdown is required)
    a. Check the Transformer WTI & OTI readings
    b. Check the LA counter readings
    c. Check any oil leakages in the transformer
    d. Clean the marshalling Panels externally.
    e. Remove unwanted materials from transformer yard
    f. Check the oil level both in Main tank & OLTC conservator ,bushings
    g. Check the condition of the Main tank and , OLTC silica gel breather

    5.2 Six month Checks (Off line checks)

    a. Check Transformer LV Cable Chamber opened & Visual Inspection & cleaning &
    power cable tightness.
    b. Check any overheating of lugs / cable, ensure no overheating marks present
    c. Check Transformer HV Side bushing Visual Inspection & cleaning & oil level .
    d. Check OTI, WTI,PRV & BUCHHOLZRELAY Alaram & tripping .
    e. Check the oil level in Main tank & OLTC conservator. (if required fill up)
    f. Check Oil level in Breather between lower & upper marking glass.
    g. Check Condition of silica gel (change if required)
    h. Check Transformer Oil BDV .
    i. Check any oil leakages in the transformer attend.

    5.3.Yearly checks of transformer:

    Carry out the testing and calibration of tripping relays . This relay testing will be
    carried out from third party. The records will kept Separately and also carryout
    the health check-up like Voltage ratio test ,Magnetic balance , Magnetising current
    Winding resistance, Tan delta& capacitance measurements. IR test , Do the test as per
    the given check sheet .
