Activity Proposal
I. Rationale
In line with the objectives of this course Research Seminar which is to assist
students on the proper conduct of research from conceptualization of research
outputs through paper and poster presentation. Patent search helps us determine
how different an invention is from what already exists in the prior art and analyze the
prior art in comparison with the inventor’s invention and draft a memorandum which
summarizes the most relevant items in the prior art and also provides an opinion as
to whether the invention appears to be patentable, and if so, what parts of the
invention appear to be new in comparison with the prior art.
II. Objectives
This activity aims to:
1. Help us understand the different types of patent protection.
2. Demonstrate basics of patent searching and know what makes good
patent specifications.
3. Recognized proper steps on how to apply for a patent.
V. Expected Output
The students will be able to conduct a Virtual Webinar about Patent Search
and apply the shared knowledge through the help of the invited speaker.
