• Dialects are spoken forms of Arabic, they are not identified as languages
• Dialects can be divided in 4 big categories
• Maghrebi : Darija (North Africa)
• Nilo-Egyptian :‘Amiya (Egypt, Sudan, Chad)
• Peninsular: Khaliji (Arabian peninsula, Gulf countries)
• Levantine : Shaami (Levant region of the Middle East)
