1. Introduction
This instrument uses a vent pipe (or a shelter) in order to measure the temperature and the
humidity with high accuracy.
The instrument is structured in a threefold cylinder, and it is made of a corrosion-resistant
material both inside and outside.
A layer of interceptive material at the middle of the internal cylinder plays the role of thermal
shield. In addition, the surface is well polished for prevention of the effect of insolation, radiation
and other external disturbance. An electric fan mounted above gives constant draft both to the
temperature sensing part and the humidity sensing part to ensure the same temperature and
humidity as the atmosphere.

3. Installation
Mount the instrument onto the pole made of 2" gas pipe (outer diameter of 60.5mm) at the
elevation of 1.2 to 2 m above the ground (for measurement of ground temperature and
humidity).
* In snow-covered districts, set the drafting port approximately 1.5 m higher than the estimated
surface of snow coverage.
To install the instrument, first set a mounting bracket to the pole, as shown in Fig. 1.

Fig. 3

Then mount the instrument as shown in the Fig. 2 and 3 above. Note that the flange of the bracket
should be inside of the bracket if the instrument as shown in the Fig. 2.

4. Wiring
For the wiring between sensing parts in the draft cylinder, the product will be shipped with the
wires connected in the factory. The user should connect the power supply and the output cables.
Use cables of 0.75 mm2 or greater cross section.
* Both temperature sensor and humidity sensor have 4-wire cable. Be careful not to make
wrong connection during the wiring work.
* Grounding cable must be connected also.

Remove the three knurled screws and rotate the lower part, then pull it down.

5.2 Cleaning of middle cylinder

To clean the middle cylinder, remove the three screws as shown in the Fig. 6 below. The middle
cylinder can be dismantled. Clean the dust sticking in or on the middle cylinder using a piece of
soft cloth or similar matter. After cleaning, find red marks on the outer cylinder and on the top
cover. Make them fit to each other and then screw them for fixing.

5.3 Cleaning of outer cylinder

The outer cylinder is made of stainless steel. Therefore it would not get rusty in ordinary
cases. However, in a region subject to typhoons or a region high in the content of flied salt,
some slight rust may take place. In such a case wipe the rust away with a piece of cloth or
use fine-particle abrasives for polish. After polishing, rustproof spray for protection will
ensure longer retention of mirror surface.

5.4 Fan motor

In a long period of time, this instrument may allow dust to accumulate in the gap between
the fan revolving part and the frame, which may stop the rotation. Check for dust from time
to time and clean the dust as needed.

6. How to dismount the temperature sensor and humidity sensor

Firstly, turn off the 100V AC power supply of the converter which supplies power to the
connection box.
Remove the lid of connection box, and untie the terminal connected to the sensing part: A, a,
B, b for temperature and V+,V-,S+,S-,G for humidity.
Remove the rubber bush between the connection box and the draft cylinder and disconnect the
cables from the cut of the rubber bush.
Dismantle the cylinder referring to the "5.1 Dismounting the draft cylinder" in Section 0.
Pull out the cables from inside of the draft cylinder as shown in Fig. 7 below.

For temperature sensor, loosen the temperature sensor setting screw and pull out the sensor
downward while feeding the cable in.
For the humidity sensor, remove it together with the humidity sensor mounting bracket.
For remounting, use the reverse procedure.

7. Replacement of brushless motor and sirocco fan

Turn off the 100V AC power being supplied to the draft cylinder. Remove three screws which are
fixing the shade. Then dismount the shade. Loosen and remove three nuts which are fixing the
motor mounting board, on which the brushless motor is installed. Then it can be disconnected,
together with the sirocco fan.

■ Removal
Remove the sirocco fan by loosening the setting screws with a hexagonal wrench (for M4).
Remove the positioning collar by loosening the setting screws with a hexagonal wrench (for M3).
Remove four screws which secure the brushless motor in order to dismount the motor.
Remove a connector which connects the power cable to the motor.

■ Installation
Mount the brushless motor.
Put the positioning collar into the motor shaft until the collar touches the motor, and then secure
them with setting screws.
Set the sirocco fan at the position at which the fan touches the positioning collar.
Secure the motor mounting board using fixing nuts.
Connect the motor power cable connector.
Mount the shade to complete the installation procedure.
