    CONSAL XVIII CONFERENCE

    Theme: Libraries United—Rising to the Challenge

    CALL FOR PAPERS


    29-30 November 2022
    Online Conference

    The Congress of Southeast Asian Librarians (CONSAL) will hold its 18th Conference on 29-
    30 November 2022. We are seeking inspiring papers which aim to address the challenges that
    libraries and librarians face in the new normal. Furthermore, the papers shall discuss the roles
    and best practices of national, public, academic, and special libraries as well as library
    associations during pandemic and endemic (post-COVID) periods. All papers shall reflect the
    following sub-themes:

    1) International Challenges
    a) Projects that cross borders e.g. ASEAN Digital Library
    b) Areas that need international co-operations e.g. Library Map of the World

    2) Digital Challenges
    a) Phygital–offline to online and vice versa
    b) Library as digital equalizer and guide to the population on digitalization
    c) Other digital opportunities e.g. content discovery, content organization, library
    experiences and archiving.

    3) Social Challenges
    a) Social inclusion (rural/suburban/urban; rich/poor)
    b) Community building

    4) People Challenges
    a) Mental well-being of staff
    b) Addressing training and development gaps; competencies
    c) Change management

    5) Heritage Challenges
    a) Documenting and archiving the pandemic
    b) Preservation and safeguarding of heritage
    c) ASEAN cultural heritage conservation and access
    Submissions:
    1. The deadline for the abstract (500 words) and full author details is 15 July 2022.

    2. The paper selection is based on the abstract, and successful presenters will be
    notified by 15 August 2022.

    3. Papers shall be authentic and have not been presented or published elsewhere.

    4. Full papers are due on 15 October 2022. Both abstracts and full papers shall be
    submitted as an MS Word file by e-mail.

    5. Papers should be no more than 4,000 words, single spaced in Times New Roman
    12 font size.

    6. Papers and abstracts shall be in English only.

    7. The author(s) should include their full contact details and brief biographical notes.
