The Outsiders Final Project
The Outsiders Final Project
The Outsiders Final Project
Directions: You are to choose one of the options below to complete a final project for the novel,
The Outsiders. Follow the directions carefully and read over the criteria for each one. Be sure you
are using this sheet to include all aspects when you are going to create your project. ATTACH THIS
SHEET TO YOUR FINAL PROJECT.
1. The Yearbook
The characters are a large part of this novel. You are to create a yearbook including the main
characters from the novel (Ponyboy, Darry, Soda, Dally, Johnny, Two-Bit, Cherry, Randy). You can do
this on the computer or by hand, but the final product must somehow be bound together. Inside,
they must include:
1. Pictures of the characters (i.e. pictures from the internet of celebrities that resemble the
character or hand-drawn sketches)
2. Quote for the person (either taken from the book or one you find that you believe resembles
him/her)
3. Brief information about them (interests/hobbies, family life, favorites, superlatives, etc.)
You will then need to create an explanation explaining the quote and picture you provided for each
character. Explanations need to be 4-5 sentences and give good support as to why you made the
decisions you did. You should type the explanations on a separate piece of paper that you hand in
with your yearbook.

2. The Book Soundtrack
This book takes place in the 60s, but the challenges and situations that the characters face in The
Outsiders, are very much relevant today. You are to create a soundtrack album of current music that
would go with sequence of the novel. To complete this project, you are to create a “cover” for the
album and a list of at least seven songs. The songs ALL MUST BE APPROPRIATE- (you know what
appropriate songs are and so do your parents; ask if you are unsure). You are then to write an
explanation for each song to explain how and why you chose that specific song. Each explanation
should be 5-6 sentences long. The explanations should be typed on a separate piece of paper to hand
in with your album cover and song list.
