COURSE SYLLABUS
HUMAN BEHAVIOR IN ORGANIZATION

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Organizational Behavior is an insightful journey towards understanding people in the workplace.


It opens doors to the various relationships one can find, build and experience within an
organization and how these relationships affect people’s behavior. The concepts on motivation,
reward, leadership and empowerment will allow students to learn the art of dealing, handling and
living with people from all walks of life. After taking up this subject, one will be ready to work with
and handle people with confidence.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the course, 90% of the students are expected to:
1. describe specific theories related to perception, motivation, leadership, job design and
organizational change through class discussions and group exercises;
2. demonstrate effective teamwork behaviors through a group research activity and peer
evaluation;
3. integrate individual, group and organizational level concepts through case studies, and
persuasive paper;
4. identify the organizational behavior concepts and theories present in real business world
examples through company visits and current events presentation;
5. understand why people and groups in organizations feel and behave as they do;
6. develop and enhance their skills as organizational members and managers; and
7. gain confidence and expertise in dealing with and handling people

COURSE REQUIREMENTS:
1. regular class attendance
2. quizzes, assignments, seatwork
3. major exams
4. group exercise (actual) -weekly
5. case study w/ defense– Final Requirement
6. Self Reflection on O.B. - Midterm

Objectives:
1. to attempt to convince their supervisor (hypothetical) to take a particular action related to an
organizational behavior topic
2. to develop in themselves the ability to communicate with people of authority
3. group research project - Company Case Study (Finals)
to apply and integrate the different OB concepts
to expose themselves to real-life OB situations
to gain confidence and mastery in applying the different OB concepts
peer evaluation - Finals

4. to personally experience working with people and evaluate people’s performance in an


organization
to be aware of the areas they need to improve in themselves
5. company visit
to expose the students to real-life situations and work conditions
to familiarize themselves with the OB concepts mostly applied and adopted by organizations
to gain confidence in and actual experience of dealing with people at work
