Lesson/Topic: Gender and Human Sexuality

Introduction
Sex and gender are commonly used terms, but many times people still find themselves debating their
meanings. Although often used interchangeable, sex and gender are two distinct concepts. Sex pertains to an
individual’s biological make-up and reproductive anatomy. Sex can be precisely defined and identified at
the genetic level-XY is male while XX is female.
On the other hand, gender refers to the roles, behaviours, activities, and attributes that society
considers appropriate either for a man or a woman.

1) discuss sexuality as an important component of one’s personality;
2) explain the dimensions of human sexuality;
