Now, how to reach Davao Oriental? So, there are two (2) entry points to Davao Oriental. One is via the
Province of Compostela Valley route where you set foot first at the Municipality of Banaybanay and the
other is the Surigao-Davao route where you glimpse first the Municipality of Cateel. Both junctions are
accessible by land transport system.
Davao Oriental is reachable from Manila and Cebu City by taking any of the daily scheduled airline flights
thru the Davao International Airport or take the regularly scheduled vessels that sail the Manila-Davao
Sea route.
The provincial capital and considered as the seat of government & hub of trade and industry
development is the City of Mati, the 3rd metropolis from Banaybanay, the entry point to the province.
Mati City is accessible by either a 25-minute chartered plane from Davao City, a 3-hour van transport
ride; a 2.5-hour private car ride and /or a 5-hour public utility bus ride. Roads to the Province are fully
concreted with a little asphalted portion along the Surigao-Cateel road network.
Now, for Mati- Davao Oriental tour we will start at Welcome Park to Boston. Day tour for only php

Charmer the province of Davao Oriental.
Did you have a good sleep I bet you do, cause it’s gonna be an amazing trip. Based on our first day tour
itinerary we will be starting off with our first destination which is the Welcome Park in Davao Oriental
followed by the Cape San Agustin, Mt. Hamiguitan Range Wildlife Sanctuary, Mt. Hamiguitan Eco Park
Tour, Sleeping Dinosaur, Subangan Museum, Dahican, and lastly the Mati Baywalk Park.
And just a quick information about Davao Oriental. Davao Oriental is a top producer of Coconut and
Copra of the Country earning the tittle of Coconut Capital in the Philippines. A home of Mt. Hamiguitan
Wildlife Sanctuary, a UNESCO heritage site. Dav OR is boarded by Davao De Oro to the West and Agusan
Del sur and Surigao Del Sur to the North. It is also a traditional home land to Mandaya and Cagan
people. And I think we have just landed to our first destination. The Welcome Park of Davao Oriental.
This Gateway of Davao Oriental in Barangay Pintatagan, Banaybanay is the entry point to the province
and to the 14 stations of the “Way of the Cross” along 645 señorita steps to culminate in a hilltop shrine
of the Holy Cross, a perfect place for meditation. In the Park also are a café where local coffee and
delicacies are served and a Pasalubong Center where locally made products are available.
Where the Pacific Ocean and the Davao Gulf meet is a strategic navigational location, a reason three
lighthouses (parola) were constructed at different times with different designs and lighting techniques at
its crest. On one side is a mangrove. On the other is a pink beach ended by an altar like stone formation
that per oral tradition is said to be where St. Francis Xavier celebrated the holy mass sometime in 1550.
This majestic mountain with a peak of 5,345 feet above sea level whose ranges traverse the
municipalities of San Isidro and Governor Generoso and the City of Mati is a protected area, home to
exotic, endemic and endangered flora and fauna. It is also home to the amazing landscaped centuries
old bonsai trees appropriately called Pygmy Forest aside from its hidden garden, Tinagong Dagat
(Hiddedn Sea) and twin waterfalls. Found to have an Outstanding Universal Value, it was declared and
inscribed as one of UNESCO’s World Heritage sites.
LUNCH
Now, before we proceed to our next destination let us first have our lunch at Blue Bless Resort, because
I know some of you guys are hungry and we also need to have more energy for our next destination. So
here at Blue Bless Resort they offer diverse menu with 7 set, set A to F, now each set costs around
500.00 pesos per head. And aside from set menu they also offered snacks such as French onion soup,
darling salad, nasi goreng, blue bless club sandwich, super bites, house salad aioli, beef lasagna, the big
boss burger, pesto penne al pollo, and nachos overload prepared by their very own Chef Andre Liva.
Okay are we all set? Now seat back and relax because our next destination is the famous and one & only
Sleeping Dinosaur.
Sleeping Dinosaur has become an amazing and wonderful Island in Davao oriental. It has become
popular because it resembles a sleeping dinosaur from afar, the islands elevated and hilly land
resembles a dinosaur’s back while the narrow flat land on the left side looks like a head. The Island is
striving for vegetation and is rich with life, most of the area are compost of forest, coconut farm and rice
field.
Do you want to have an overview of the whole Dav Or? Then this museum is a perfect place for you.
Welcome to Subangan Museum.
East is what subangan means it is from the Bisayan word subang, subang can also be means sunrise or
the place where the sun rise. The area of building this magnificent museum was around the year 2010,
when an unfortunate event happened during the shore of San Isidro and Governor Generoso Town. A 20
metric ton of sperm whale has drifted along the shore. When this event happened the people of
province has decided that the 53ft long mammal should have its bone retrieved and preserved. By doing
so the researcher and scientist started flocking here to study the mammal. And by 2011 the decision of
creating a museum was finalized, and the mammal was then named DAVOR, Dava for Davao and OR for
Oriental. Moreover, the museum showcases the province’s history, beauty, abundance, wealth, cultural
heritage, economy, and its people.
Our next destination will be one of the famous beaches here in Dav Or. These has been making a buzz
lately, well it deserves such an attention as it is the perfect beach gate away. White sand beach, pristine
waters, huge waves, local dive and rich marine biodiversity, welcome to Dahican Beach Resort. A
crescent shape white beach in idyllic Barangay Dahican famed for skim boarding, diving and surfing is a
delightful place for a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of daily life or for simply watching the
sea cows (dugong), dolphins, turtles and whale sharks in its blue clear bay waters.
The Mati Bay walk Park welcomes everyone by its huge greeting displayed fronting the sea read as I Love
Mati (in which the word “love” is replaced by a heart shape) surrounded the man-made water fountain.
It is also where important events in the city are held such as the Sambuokan Festival – the most colorful
and much awaited celebration of the people of Mati in a week-long of thanksgiving for the year’s
blessings of bountiful harvests and in observance of the founding anniversary of the city every 29th of
October.
SECOND DAY
I'm sure you had some wonderful evening. RIGHT? Because this will be our second day and it’s gonna be
another fantastic adventure. We'll start with our first destination based on our second-day tour itinerary
which is Pusan Point followed by Caraga church, Baganga Sunrise Boulevard, San Victor Island, Carolina
Lake, and Curtain Falls.
This was where the year 2000 first millennium sunlight shone, thus the locale for the “First Light, First
Sight” revelry. Located in the easternmost part of the Philippine Archipelago, Pusan Point allows its
visitors the splendor of seeing the earliest sunrise in the world.
CARAGA CHURCH
This 17th century church in Caraga town, Davao Oriental, is one of the oldest churches in Mindanao. It
houses a bell that dates way back to 1802. An antique image of San Isidro Labrador, the town’s patron
saint, can still be on its altar. Built overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the church was also used as a prison by
the Spaniards.
Before the typhoon hit in the Philippines way back in dec 2012, this wonderful place is founded by the
provincial government in support to eco-tourism development, the sunrise boulevard was field with
mangroves trees and such a relaxing place for sunrise viewing. But because of typhoon Pablo this
amazing place has been damage by it, but surprisingly as what we can see it it’s still so beautiful, the
mangroves trees show how they staunchly defended the baganga shore from the surge of typhoon
Pablo. Some of the trees are showing sing of life with the green leaves sprouting from their branches,
and I know that some of you can’t help but take pictures with these dramatic trees, and it feels like we
are in an enchanted forest.
Lying on the seas of the Pacific in the coastal town of Baganga, Davao Oriental, there find one sparkling
Island bestowed by Mother Nature with pristine sands so pure and pearly white, seawater so clean and
clear and an ambiance of a real tropical living. They call this little paradise – San Victor Island. The island
is considered as the Island Jewel of Baganga as it landed on the list of the must-visit top tourist spots of
Davao Oriental and the Davao Region. More than the white sand beach and the crystal-clear waters, San
Victor Island is rich in marine life and resources. Seaweeds and clams abound the sea bed. Underwater,
its unscathed corals are playground of the multi-colored fishes. While the sea surrounding the island
teems with rich marine life, the island on the other hand is covered with tall old coconut groves, some
talisay trees and other tropical plants enhancing a real tropical feel.
CAROLINA LAKE: The Hidden Treasure of Baganga
If the province of Surigao Del Sur boasts of the now famous Enchanted River in the town of Hinatuan, in
this province of Davao Oriental takes pride of hidden treasure called Carolina Lake in the coastal town of
Baganga. More than the cool brackish waters, Carolina Lake is beauty in itself. The green and clean
colors of the waters superbly complimented with verdant hues of green life that surrounds it. At times,
the water sparkles once touched by the rays of the sun peeping from the century old trees covering it.
Looking at it from afar, it looks like a perfect painting creating an appealing setting of untouched nature.
Slowly, it has gained a good reputation as one of the must visit destinations in Baganga.
The Curtain Falls derives its name from the formation of the waterfalls itself. The cool falling waters
come from the river above and the large flat rock causes it to flow on a curtain-like pattern. Campawan
Curtain Falls is said to be the widest curtain falls in the whole Davao Region. The waters fall from a
distance of around 20 feet in height and its width is maybe around 50 to 60 feet. It falls into a shallow
basin of water below where you may take a dip or a swim. You can actually climb on the rocks beside
the waterfall if you want to reach the spot above. Once you’re on top, you can see other falls from a
view.
And that will be all for today, now you can have your dinner at River Breeze Leisure Fram, and see you
again tomorrow, have a wonderful night.
THIRD DAY
Okay are we all ready for our last day trip? I bet you do, now based on our third and final day tour
itinerary our first destination will be the aliwagwag falls, followed by cateel Riverview Park and
memorial shrine and finally the boston pacific view park. Now, being a tropical country, Philippines is a
home to many wonderful attractions, and here in Davao Oriental lies a charming wonder of nature’s just
waiting to be discovered by you. Welcome to Aliwagwag Falls.
ALIWAGWAG FALLS
Due to the magnificence and majesty of its 127 steps of cascading fresh and clean water, considered by
hydraulic engineers as the highest waterfalls in the Philippines, it is dubbed as “Stairway to Heaven.”
This is also made up of rock formation ranging in shapes and sizes. And beyond its natural allure this
towering piece of nature has facilities for thrill seekers like a zip line and monkey bridge.
Standing in the middle of Cateel town, this memorial monument is a reminder of one of the province’s
darkest chapters amidst the destruction of Typhoon Pablo in 2012. The Park also symbolizes the courage
and resilience of the people of Cateel and Davao Oriental to get back on their feet and emerge as
hopeful as ever. Along with Aliwagwag Falls, this is another landmark worthy of your photo stop.
