Scope and Limitation

These states the range of the study and it limitations from where it will be surveyed
and data gathered.

The focus of this project is to help resident in terms of natural disaster and to
introduce a Multi-Functional storage and survival kit. The respondents and
beneficiary of this project is the household of Barangay Gulod, District V
Novaliches Quezon City. Barangay Gulod has a land area of 1.277 km squared.
Furthermore, the respondents will be survey using questionnaire.

Certification for Systems Engineering

ASEP - Associates Systems Engineering Professional ( no experience)

CSEP - Certified Systems Engineering Professional ( with experience)

ECEP - Expert Systems Engineering Professional ( more than 20 years exp)

System context

Physical System - communication system, railway system, satellite systems,

information systems

Philosophical System - social system, religious system, government systems

System Engineering ( it is a set of elements that interact to achieve stated purpose)

Part of Systems

System element

Interconnection

System boundary

System Mission ( to provide the solution to a business problem)

Type of system

Close or Open Systems

- Close systems is isolates from its external environment

- open systems interacts with its environment environment through input and
output

Natural or human modified systems

- Natural system it contains natural elements and results of natural processes, dont
have human interfer or idea

- human modified systems it contain human made element, come into existence
through the effort of human, theses are natural system that have been modified

Physical or conceptual systems

- physical System - it exists with a physical form

- conceptual system - do not have physical form

Precedented or unprecedented systems

- precedented systems it has been produced before , existing idea ganun

- Unprecedented systems it has not been produce before not existing idea or new
idea need substantial research

SYSTEMS ENGINEERING is applied to OPEN,

PHYSICAL systems that are HUMAN-MADE or

MODIFIED from a largely PRECEDENTED elements

Hierarchy of a Systems

Systems (fire control systems)

Subsystem (building, fire engine, firefighter with personal equipment,

communication equipment)

Components (water tank, two way radio)

what is Engineering

What is system Engineering

System Engineering is an interdisciplinary approach and means to enable
realization of successful systems

Role of a Systems Engineer

They analyze and manage the complexity and risk

They are required to ensure that all the aspect of the system are properly function
together as a single entity

Relevance of Systems Engineering

- reduced risk

- reduce the overall life cycle cost

- providing a quality system

Generic System life cycle

-Throughout the life of a system there are number of phases and activities which
builds on the result of the preceding activities

- the sum of all activities is called System life cycle

-A system has a life. It is brought into being,

used and then disposed of when it no

longer serves its purpose.

Generic System life cycle

4 broad phases

Pre-acquisition phase

-Serve as a foundation to acquisition, communication and implementation

-it is a idea for a system being generated as a result of a business planning

-grossly undervalued yet fundamental element of acquisition success

Acquisition phase

- is focus on bringing the system in to being and into the service of organization

- this phase define as business requirements, stakeholder requirements

( Conceptual design) 1st and most important phase of the system design , ensure
proper definition of the system requirements

( Preliminary design) to demonstrate that the selected system concept will

conform the performance and specifications

( Detailed design and development) procurement and acquisition of the system

components begin, components are tested, have physical model or replica

( Construction and production) components are produced in accordance with

the specification and the system is Ultimately constructed

Utilization phase

- the system is operated and supported

- the system may under go a number of modification and upgrades to: rectify
performance shortfall, enhance current performance reliability

Retirement phase
- the business has no further need for the system

- If the business need for the capability still exists in the organization,

the conclusion of one system life cycle marks the start of another and

the process begins again.

State the problem

- customer needs and expectations

Customer more concerned with the product capability than with detailed
specification

Systems cost-effectiveness

System cost-effectiveness is the primary role of the systems engineer

System Cost

Categories of Life cycle cost model

- Research, development, test and evaluation (RDT&E)

- Acquisition or procurement

- Operation and maintenance

System Effectiveness

3 factor of system Effectiveness

- Availability (its called readiness reliability)

- Dependability (more conventional reliability degrades with time into the system
operation

- Capability ( it referred to the system performance)
