Building a Devotional File

#def (or #define)

statements come
before the body of
the document

Building a Devotional file with e-Sword ToolTip Tool, requires the construction of a chapter
for each day in the file, and marking each section. Devotional files require several definitions
to be found at the top of the document. Required include, “description”, “abbreviation”,
“comment”, and “version”. Optional is the “startday”, which is used to build a devotional for
only part of the year. Example, February would set the startday=31, which means tells
TooTip Tool there to start after 31 days, or in other words, February 1st. 59 would be a start
of March 1. If required variables are not found, ToolTip Tool will give you a warning message
and stop saving the devotional file, allowing you to enter the required data.
Devotional file as seen in
e-Sword. The Comment
and Version data is not
visible.
Building a e-Sword Dictionary File
Each entry is marked – See Marks
Menu.

Definitions used to build the

module, required:
1) description – single line of text
2) abbreviation – single line of text
3) comment – can be multi-lined
and formatted
4) version – integer number
5) strong – number, either 0 or 1
(0=no; 1=yes).
6) nosort – [OPTIONAL] – number,

Tool to either sort the entries
alphabetically or not when
writing the dictionary file.
E-Sword Notes File
When using ToolTip Tool to
make a Notes file, Marks
are applied to each verse
and associated text. The
first scripture reference
found is the scripture
reference used for that
entry.

Of course, the first thing

you want to do is format
scripture in e-Sword ToolTip
format. Click the ToolTips
button
After Tooltipping the
document, you can save it as
a Notes File, but ToolTip Tool
has the option of adding
“Navigate Links” to your
Notes file.

Navigation Links create

jumps to the note
immediately before and
after the current Note. This
allows you to traverse all the
notes in your file, and read
the associated comments.

This makes it easy to find all

your notes within e-Sword!
Navigation Links have now
been added to the text, and
it is read to export to
e-Sword.

Click the Modules menu, and

select Notes, Save Notes File.
