    WRITING TASK 1

    The given table illustrates the amount of salaries received by secondary/high


    school teachers in 2009.

    Overall, while Luxembourg witnessed the highest amount of teachers' salaries,


    the opposite was true for Australia. It is also obvious that Japanese teachers took
    the largest amount of time to get the maximum salary.

    Regarding the initial salaries, the highest position was taken by Luxembourg's at
    $80,000, nearly twice as much as the figure for Denmark's. Meanwhile, the
    figures for Japanese and Korean teachers were significantly lower, at $34,000
    and $30,000 respectively. The lowest figure for teachers' starting salaries could
    be seen in Australia, at only $28,000.

    After 15 years of teaching, there was a considerable increase in the amount of


    teachers' salaries in Luxembourg, at $119,000, in comparison with only $65,000
    in Japan, and $54,000 in Denmark. Australian and Korean teachers shared the
    same amount of salaries, at $48,000, in the same respect.

    It is also worth noting that it only took less than 10 years for teachers in Australia
    and Denmark to reach the maximum salary, whereas teachers in the remaining
    countries had to wait for at least 30 years.

    WRITING TASK 2
    Many developing countries are currently expanding their tourism
    industries. Why is this the case? Is it a positive development?
    It is the fact that there is an expandation in the size of the tourism industry in
    many developing nations. There are a number of reasons behind this tendency
    and I believe that it would bring several benefits to the countries.

    There are two important reasons why developing nations pay much attention to
    tourism. Firstly, by traveling to another nation, visitors could not only stimulate
    the local economic growth but also be a valuable source of foreign currency.
    Secondly, many underdeveloped countries are changing their focus from
    agriculture and industry to tourism in order to generate more profits. For
    example, the Vietnamese government has been allocating a significant
    proportion of their budget to the construction of tourist facilities. As a result, the
    country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per household has witnessed a rapid
    increase in recent years.

    In my opinion, tourism plays a pivotal role in both economic and cultural


    development. In terms of cultural aspects, developing nations could promote
    local traditions to international visitors, who are willing to broaden their horizons.
    This will bring a sense of pride and identity to the local community, thereby
    developing patriotism in each individual. Regarding economic aspects, there is a
    massive number of people in employment thanks to tourism. Were tourists not to
    visit, a large number of local citizens would lose their income and be
    unemployed.

    In conclusion, it is clear that there are various reasons for underdeveloped


    nations to invest in tourism and it definitely is a positive development. The more
    the tourism industry develops, the wealthier the country becomes.
