Gear guard group is to be concentric to hoist drum group with approximately 25.4 mm (1 inch)
clearance between the gear guard group and the hoist drum group flange. 

4C-9502 Gasket Apply Loctite™ Gasket Maker #2 between gear guard group and hoist drive group before

Sealant  tightening gear guard mount bolts. 

N3      Rubber seal should be bent as shown to facilitate the best sealing arrangement. 

Shim as required to maintain 25.4 mm (1 inch) gap between gear guard group and hoist drum

group flange. Shims are supplied with the gear guard.

Bolt 

1. Jack bolt (A) threads, small end of tapered stud (H), and inside expansion sleeve (D) are Prelubricated
by the vender with graphite lube. Ensure that lube film is present on these surfaces and apply more
Loctite 277™ as needed. Also apply a thin film of Loctite 277 to the out side of expansion sleeve (D) hoist
frame plate (E), revolving frame deck plate holes (F), and jack bolt (A) end faces and threads.
2. Ensure the jack bolts (A) are flush with the bottom of torque nuts (B).
3. Insert expansion sleeve (D) from the top side, into the mating hoist frame base plate and revolving
frame holes.
4. Insert tapered stud (H) into expansion sleeve (D) from the top side, small end down.
5. Slip hardened washer (G) over the lower tapered end of tapered stud and sleeve, with the
467-
counterbored face of the washer facing upward.

6. Install lower torque nut (B) onto tapered stud (H) and hand tighten against hardened washer (G).
Bolt As  7. Seat and expand the tapered sleeve in the mating hoist frame base plate and revolving frame holes by
tightening the lower torque nut jack bolts. In a star pattern tighten the jack bolts to 41 N·m (30 lb ft), one
time around. Change to a circular pattern and tighten to 77 N·m (57 lb ft).
8. Install hardened washer over upper threaded end of tapered stud.
9. Install upper torque nut (B) onto tapered stud (H) and hand tighten against hardened washer (C).
10. In a star pattern tighten the jack bolts to 41 N·m (30 lb ft), one time around. Change to a circular
:
pattern and tighten to 77 N·m (57 lb ft). Continuing to tight until the jack bolts are stabilized, meaning
that they move less than an 1/8 of a turn. This may take several rounds.
11. Finalize the lower jack bolts by tightening until they are stabilized.

1. Jack bolt (A) threads, small end of tapered stud (H), and inside expansion sleeve (D) are Prelubricated by

Before assembly, apply red Loctite 243™ to the threads. 

1. Dress the end of the shaft to remove all the burrs.


2. Assemble preheated bearing components on the shaft snug against locating shoulder.
3. Assemble the end plate and the hardware and preload bearing components until the entire
assembly has cooled.

(0.002 inch to 0.005 inch)
6. Assemble the end plate and secure with bolt (1). Torque to snug tight by tightening bolts in an
alternating sequence. 530 N·m (390 lb ft).
7. Tighten bolts in an alternating pattern in steps of 1/3 the torque value.
