4. How do you comprehend Tense and Aspect? Explain the differences with your own word.
(10 points)
• Tense usually indicates when or when an action or event occurs, or when a situation
is taking place.
For example, adding morfem -ed to talk verbs, becoming a talking form.

• The aspect indicates how an event occurred, and it may also indicate that an action is
completed or is ongoing. It relates to smaller elements that if assembled can constitute
a larger one in either event or in the circumstances of action
For example, the ing verb or the underlying event, "she is talking with his boyfriend.

6. What are subject, direct object, and indirect object? Explain each of them and provide the
examples. (10 points)
• An object is the part of a sentence that gives meaning to the subject’s action of the
verb. For example: Whempy caught the basketball. Subject=Whempy Verb=caught
Object=basketball
• A direct object answers the question of whom or what. In the sentence above, you
could determine that ‘basketball’ is a direct object by asking the question: What did
Whempy catch? He caught the basketball. Basketball is the direct object.
• An indirect object answers the question of to whom, for whom, or for what. For
example: Whempy pitched Billa the basketball.

Whempy (subject) pitched (verb) the baseketball (direct object) to whom? He pitched it to
Billa. Billa is the indirect object.

7. Draw the IC Analysis of the sentences below.
