Business leaders focused on coastal restoration
CCRE is a neutral, nonpartisan group of business leaders that creates an informed, educated
voice of advocacy for sustainable coastal restoration efforts in Louisiana’s wetlands, coastal
areas, river, and delta. Through the support of diverse business community leaders from
parishes across the Greater New Orleans Region, this Coalition has provided critical new
perspectives in coastal restoration debates, dialogues and evaluations throughout the years.
A key focus of CCRE is to uplift the business community’s support for the full adoption and
implementation of the Louisiana Coastal Master Plan.

insurance is a critical component of a thriving business environment.
Sustainable flood insurance reform must prioritize the following: • AFFORDABILITY – 98.5% of NFIP policies are in counties with a
median household income below $100,000
• MITIGATION – For every $1 invested in flood mitigation, there is • PARTICIPATION – Only 15% of homeowners have a flood

COALITION FOR SUSTAINABLE FLOOD INSURANCE

Flood insurance: A nationwide priority

In 2012, GNO, Inc. established the Coalition for Sustainable Flood Insurance (CSFI) in
response to the Biggert-Waters Act, which created unaffordable and unsustainable flood
premiums across the country. CSFI advocated for passage of the Homeowner Flood
Insurance Affordability Act in 2014. Today, FEMA’s Risk Rating 2.0 is threatening the viability
of flood insurance for homeowners across the United States. GNO, Inc. has reconvened CSFI
to advocate for measures that will keep the program intact and affordable.

LONG TERM PRIORITIES

GNOFUTURE
GNO, Inc.’s strategic plan, GNOfuture, outlines a job growth
strategy to capitalize on macroeconomic trends of the next
decade. The plan is rooted in both local experience and global
models and was developed over two years, via interviews with
100+ business leaders, government officials, and national and
international experts. Opportunities include:
• Rising dominance of logistics – Through a consolidated
strategy for the river, combined with unparalleled multi- • Reshoring of technology – The low cost / high culture

CONNECTIVITY: AIRPORT AND PASSENGER RAIL

Direct Flights: The new MSY airport terminal plays a vital role in bringing leisure
and business travelers from scores of domestic and international locations. For
more than a decade, GNO, Inc. has led efforts to develop new direct flights for
the region. This includes international flights like the British Airways MSY to
London flight announced in 2016 (the culmination of a four-year effort to return
direct service to Europe for the first time since 1982), and domestic flights like
Breeze Airways 2021 announcement of 10+ new direct flights.
Passenger Rail: Within South Louisiana, GNO, Inc. has focused on creating
passenger rail service between New Orleans and Baton Rouge. Connecting
the two largest cities in the state with passenger rail service will support our ability to compete as a super region. Passenger
rail will serve as the spine of a multi-modal network to provide employers access to a wider labor pool and provide workers
with increased access to jobs and affordable housing. In late 2021, Canadian Pacific committed to re-introducing service on
the line, and, in early 2022, state officials performed a successful inspection of the rail line.

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
Recognizing the importance of cultivating future regional
leaders, the GNO, Inc. NextGen Council introduces a
new generation of professionals to regional economic
development. This group is comprised of 60+ mid-career
professionals who represent the diverse and impressive talent
of Greater New Orleans.
The NextGen Council hosts a series of enriching events significant economic development priorities of our region
