1. Instructions
Untuk membentuk suatu kalimat perintah kita menggunakan kata kerja bentuk pertama
Contoh:
-          Open the door!
-          Peel the apple!
-          Wash the vegetables!
-          Pour the water!
-          Type the message!
-          Listen to me!

Kata yang dicetak tebal adalah kata kerja yang digunakan untuk membuat kalimat perintah.
Untuk memperhalus perintah kita dapat menggunakan kata “please” sehingga kalimat ini
disebut  Request atau permintaan/permohonan. Contoh: Close the windows, please. Please
clean the class room!

2. Invitations
Giving invitation yaitu ungkapan atau ekspresi yang digunakan untuk mengajak/mengundang
seseorang untuk datang ke suatu tempat atau ketika ada seseorang yang meminta orang lain
untuk melakukan sesuatu untuknya. Biasanya ada response atau tanggapan dari seseorang
atas undangan atau ajakan (responding to invitation). Berikut adalah contoh dialogue

There is dan There are digunakan untuk menunjukkan eksistensi atau keberadaan sesuatu
baik benda, binatang, manusia dan lainya. Atau dengan kata lain arti secara leksikal adalah
“Ada” Perbedaan dari keduanya adalah; There is digunakan untuk benda tunggal(singular)
sedangkan There are untuk benda jamak (plural).

CONTOH:

Present Tense merupakan tenses Bahasa Inggris yang digunakan untuk mengeskpresikan
aktifitas/kegiatan yang menjadi rutinitas berulang-ulang. Untuk lebih jelasnya sebagai berikut:

 Digunakan untuk menyatakan Kebenaran umum(general truth)

•     Digunakan untuk menyatakan kegiatan yang sudah direncanakan atau terjadwal.

• Digunakan untuk untuk menyatakan kegiatan yang terjadi sekarang.


1.   I sit beside you
2.   He is in his bedroom now.

Simple Present memiliki dua bentuk kalimat yaitu Kalimat nominal dan kalimat verbal. Kalimat
Nominal adalah Kalimat yang di dalamnya tidak terdapat verb. Di dalam kalimat nominal
biasanya terdapat adjective, noun, adverb dll. Sedangkan kalimat verbal adalah kalimat yang
di dalamnya terdapat verb.

Contoh Kalimat nominal:

1.   My mother is happy.
2.   He is handsome.
3.   We are in the classroom.
4.   Arman is a doctor.

Contoh Kalimat Verbal:

1.   My father goes to his office by car.


2.   The cat catches the mouse everyday.
3.   Buffaloes eat grass.
4.   Shinta makes a cake on Wednesday.
5.   They visit their friend every Sunday.

Rumus untuk Kalimat Nominal:

Affirmative/positif (+): S + to be + adj/noun/adverb


Negative: (-): S + to be + not + adj/noun/adverb
Interogative/Question (?): To be + S + adj/noun/adverb?

Subject: I menggunakan to be am
Subject: You, we, they menggunakan are
Subject: He, she, it menggunakan is

Rumus kalimat verbal :

o   Untuk membuat kalimat negative maupun pertanyaan digunakan kata bantu do/does
o   Untuk Subject He, she, it kata kerjanya tanpa s/es di dalam kalimat negative maupun
pertanyaan.
Contoh Penggunaan kalimat nominal dan verbal dengan bentuk negative dan interrogative.

1.   Verb (kata kerja) yang berakhiran-s,-sh,-ch, -x, -z, atau -o
mendapatkan akhiran -es.
Contoh:

Etc.

2.   Verb (kata kerja) yang berakhiran -y, yang didahului oleh


huruf mati (consonant) mendapatkan akhiran -es
dengan merubah akhiran -y menjadi -i.
Contoh:
Dye menjadi dies
Cry menjadi cries
Study menjadi studies

3.     Verb (kata kerja) yang berakhiran -y, yang didahului oleh huruf hidup (vowel), medapatkan
akhiran -s dengan tidak mengubah akhiran -y menjadi –i
Contoh:

Enjoy menjadi enjoys

4.     Selain aturan Verb (kata kerja) di atas, mendapatkan akhiran -s.


      Contoh:
      Sing menjadi sings

B. Pendahuluan
Bahan ajar pada kegiatan ini terfokus pada memberikan informasi yang berhubungan dengan kualitas
orang, hewan dan benda   yang dapat ditemukan oleh peserta didik didalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Selain
itu juga mengenalkan kepada peserta didik cara menyatakan kemampuan dan ketidakmampuan serta
kesukaan terhadap sesuatu.

I. NOUN + BE + ADJECTIVE

PENGERTIAN NOUN
NOUN  di dalam bahasa Indonesia berarti KATA BENDA. KATA BENDA sendiri berarti kata menunjukan
suatu benda  yang sifatnya dapat DIPEGANG, DILIHAT DAN DIRASAKAN.  NOUN atau KATA BENDA dapat
berupa MANUSIA, BENDA MATI, HEWAN, TUMBUHAN, TEMPAT DAN BANGUNAN.

Dalam bahasa inggris to be berfungsi sebagai kata penghubung antara object dan subject. dalam bahasa
indonesia to be (is,are,was,were dll) berarti "adalah" atau tidak memiliki arti sama sekali. Secara harfiah, to
be berarti ada atau adalah.

I. AM hanya dipakai untuk subject I ( saya )

II. IS ( hanya dipakai oleh subject SHE, HE, IT atau jika pelaku dalam kalimat hanya berjumlah tunggal atau

He is a  teacher ( dia adalah seorang guru)

It is a car ( itu adalah sebuah mobil)

It is a ball ( itu adalah sebuah bola)

It is green ( itu berwarna hijau )

satu)

PENGERTIAN ADJECTIVE ATAU KATA SIFAT


Adjective merupakan kata sifat yang berfungsi untuk mendeskripsikan tempat, orang, dan benda. biasanya
sering diletakkan di depan atau mendahului “noun”.

adjective (Kata Sifat) yang digunakan untuk menjelaskan sifat, watak atau kondisi suatu
benda.
Adjective atau kata sifat berfungsi untuk menunjukan sifat atau watak suatu benda. Kata sifat dapat
menunjukan sifat suatu benda dengan berada sebelum atau di depan kata benda.

Contoh :

1.Wonderful park

* Worderful adalah kata sifat (ADJECTIVE) yang berarti mengagumkan.


* Park adalah kata benda (NOUN) yang berarti taman.
This is a wonderful park ( ini adalah taman yang mengagumkan.

2. Clean house
* Clean adalah kata sifat yang berarti bersih
* house adalah kata benda yang berarti rumah

It is a clean house ( Itu adalah rumah yang bersih)

Adjective  bisa dibagi ke dalam beberapa kategori sebagai berikut:

Contoh: kind (baik hati), cruel (kejam), bossy (suka mengatur), humble (rendah hati), ambitious (ambisius),
faithful (setia), clumsy (ceroboh), grumpy (pemarah), careful (cermat), clever (pintar), brave (berani), funny
(menyenangkan), delightful (sangat berani), helpful (bermanfaat), energetic (energik), clam (tenang),
curious (ingin tahu), strange (aneh), dan lain sebagainya.

2. Quality (Kualitas)
Contoh: expensive (mahal), good (baik), cheap (murah), beautiful (cantik), fancy (mewah), better (lebih
baik), dirty (kotor), nice (bagus), delicious (lezat) dan lain sebagainya.

3. Size (Ukuran)
Contoh: big (besar), small (kecil), tiny (sangat kecil), long (panjang), tall (tinggi), giant (raksasa), short
(pendek), huge (sangat besar), large (luas), narrow (sempit), slight (tipis), thick (tebal), dan lain
sebagainya.

4. age (Usia/Umur)
Contoh: old (tua), young (muda), new (baru), ancient (kuno), dan lain sebagainya.

5. Temperature (Suhu)
Contoh: hot (panas), cold (dingin), warm (hangat), dan lain sebagainya.
6.Shape (Bentuk)

Contoh: square (kotak), round (bulat), cone (kerucut), triangle (segitiga), flat (datar), circle (lingkaran),

PENGERTIAN MODAL AUXILARY CAN


 Modal Auxiliary  CAN merupakan kata kerja bantu yang  dalam berfungsinya untuk mengekspresikan atau
menunjukan ability (kemampuan dan ketidakmampuan), necessity (kebutuhan), dan possibility
(kemungkinan).  Akan tetapi yang akan kita bahas saat ini adalah MODAL CAN yang fungsinya untuk
menunjukan KEMAMPUAN ATAU KETIDAKMAMPUAN MELAKUKAN SESUATU HAL.
CAN
Can dalam bahasa Indonesia artinya dapat atau bisa. Modal “can” dapat berfungsi sebagai:

Showing ability (menunjukkan kemampuan)


~    I can cook Balinese food. (Saya bisa memasak masakan Bali.)
~    He can play football. (Dia dapat bermain sepak bola.)

Showing inability (menunjukkan ketidakmampuan)

rasa suka kita. Dalam bahasa Inggris, " kata suka" berarti LIKE .

DEFINITION
Recount text is one type of text in english that retells the events or experiences of the past
(sebuah teks yang menceritakan kembali peristiwa atau aktivitas yang terjadi di masa lampau
yang pernah di alami sebelumnya.)
PURPOSE
To entertain and give information to the reader
Characteristics of Recount Text:
a.       Orientation
tells who was involved, what happened, where the events took place, and when it happened.
("Orientation" menceritakan siapa saja yang terlibat dalam cerita, apa yang terjadi, di mana
tempat peristiwa terjadi, dan kapan terjadi peristiwanya)
b.      Events
That is a recording of events that occur, usually delivered in chronological order, such as: "In
the first day ... And in the next day .... And in the last day ...." In this section there are also
personal comments about events or events that are told
c.       Reorientation
consists of optional-closure of events/ending. ("Reorientation" berisi penutup cerita / akhir
cerita)

Language Features

Pada saat membaca Recount Text, akan ditemukan ciri-ciri kebahasaan sebagai berikut :
a. Menggunakan kalimat dalam bentuk  Past Tense.
   Contoh : We went to Bandung last year, I was very happy.
b. Menggunakan Action Verbs.
    Contoh : went, bought, wrote, slept, dll.
c. Menggunakan Adverbs and Adverbial Phrase untuk mengungkapkan waktu, tempat dan
cara.
    Contoh : yesterday, at school, quickly, dll.
d. Menggunakan Conjunction dan Time Connectives untuk mengurutkan peristiwa atau
kejadian.
    Contoh : but, and, after that, dll.

Going Camping

Last weekend, my friends and I went camping.


We reached the camping ground after we walked for about one and a half hour from the
parking lot. We built the camp next to a small river.
It was getting darker and colder, so we built a fire camp. The next day, we spent our time
observing plantation and insects while the girls were preparing meals. In the afternoon we
went to the river and caught some fish for supper.
At night, we held a fire camp night. We sang, danced, read poetry, played magic tricks, and
even some of us performed a standing comedy.
