BACKGROUND

1. Can you tell us about yourself?

His name is Murugan A/L Ananthan. He is from Bahau, Negeri Sembilan. He is 32 years old
and have been in this field around 7 years. Mr Murugan start his journey by opening a
company on his own as managing director in 2015. The company name is Lemurian Solution.

2. Can you describe about your background like demographic, education that help you to
achieve this position?

Secondary school : SMK Bahau 2

Politeknik : Politeknik Port Dickson (Diploma in Accounting)

University : University Tenaga Nasional (Bachelor of Accounting) 2013-2017

Part time work : Maruah Company (work in Purchase site)

Work : Prudential Company as Agent

3. What is your latest achievement?

- Malaysian Institute of Accountant (MIA)


- Chartered Accountant
- ASEAN Chartered Professional Accountant

4. How many members are they in your team/ how many employees are under your
leadership?

7 employees (4 permanent employees and 3 practical students)

LEADERSHIP

5. Does your company/organization have diverse employees/team members? If you have,


how do you manage and motivated them?

“Yes, my company consists diverse employees as well. I use some methods to manage and
motivated them every day. One of the methods is to create rewards. Even small callouts
throughout the week to publicly recognize good work can help my employees grow more
cohesive and push the team to overachieve. However, tailoring the right rewards must be a
part of the process. Understanding the unique needs of my employees will allow me to create
a reward that really resonates. For example, there is one young mom in my team, she may
allowed additional flex time in the morning. Other than that, I also have celebrated my
employees birthdays, anniversaries and company achievements. It will help motivate and
inspire my teams. Having fun at work can increase employee engagement and motivation too.
It can also increase my company productivity. For example, I install a Ping-Pong table and
invite employees to happy hour, but it’s also important to allow my employees to interact and
build team camaraderie.”

6. In your organization, do you have any tasks that required working in group. If you have,
how do you get it done?

“I will always keep track of the progress of every member of my team to ensure that
everyone is doing well and is able to finish all of their individual tasks within the allotted
time. We won't have any barriers between us, so they can always approach me for my advice
whenever they need it. I'll do all in my power to support my team and get the use job done as
quickly as possible.”

7. Do you find managing employees/team members from different background


challenging?

Managing personnel from varied backgrounds is difficult, according to Mr. Murugan, and
requires the knowledge and expertise needed to deal with the situation. He believes that a
caring and considerate attitude will be helpful in managing the diverse workforce.

8. When there is employees, discrimination might happen, what steps have you taken so far
in order to avoid discrimination among employees?

"The Human Resources department must get involved in this situation so that we can identify
all the contributing causes and the solution to that specific problem. If there is effective
communication, as I mentioned previously, discrimination can be avoided. Mr. Murugan said.
He also asserts that all employees must respect one another and that managers must
constantly remind teams of the negative effects of prejudice on both individuals and
businesses.
9. As a leader how do you keep the working environment among the employees/team
members in a condition that is harmony?

“Every team needs strong communication among itself in order to create a harmonious
working environment. To foster a strong link among employees and ensure that unsatisfied
feelings do not arise, every manager and team leader must abstain from showing favouritism.
He also noted that in order to be an effective leader, he needed to listen well and hold
meetings before beginning any assignment. These two factors are also essential for having a
harmonious work environment.”

10. Do you encourage your employee/team members to join any team building activities or
programme?

“I always encourages my employees to participate in these kinds of activities because I


always aware of the advantages.” Additionally, he said that employees with promise would
be promoted in accordance with their ability level.

11. Have you done any test to check the worker’s/team members personality in order for you
to assign the suitable tasks according their abilities?

“Yes. The management team can arrange personnel according to their potential and talents
with the aid of the test, which is crucial in my opinion. Additionally, if workers are given jobs
that don't fit with their personalities, it can help to reduce stress in the workplace. He said.

12. How do you ensure the unity among the employees/team members?

A high degree of communication is the first factor in ensuring unity. "I don't need to go into
further detail at this stage," While grinning, added Mr. Murugan. Additionally, he advised
them to respect one another and refrain from using racist or discriminating language. Because
they work as a team, the employees should support one another, and their supervisor won't
show favouritism. Mr. Murugan employs these techniques to maintain harmony among the
workers.

PERSONALITY

13. what soft or hard skills that you have that make you passionate enough to work for this
organization?
He has 9 years of expertise, which has fuelled his passion for his profession. Although he is
aggressive, he also emphasises the issues facing the workforce. Additionally, he prefers to
distribute tasks equally and avoids using force in his words or actions. His team is intrigued
by his charisma and at ease with the way he does business.

14. how do you use your ability or expertise to help your organization achieve its goal?

I will use my ability to help my employees to achieve goals. For example, I will politely
explain them how to do complete the tasks that I give in the time given. If they didn't
understand means I will elaborate them clearly. I won't get angry on them. Other than that, I
will share my knowledge with my team members so they also can gain some new
information.

15. what motivates and help make you to be a successful leader?

Mr. Murugan said that he motivates by his own skill development and by other successful
leaders in society. I have observe the leaders around me and feel confident that I could do
their job at least as well as they do, or even better, I might feel motivated to take on a
leadership role. However, I have integrity and accountable, outgoing and emotionally stable;
enjoy challenges, problem-solving and strategizing. Being a good listener, enjoying the input
from team members, and evaluating and synthesizing their input might also motivate me to
be a leader.

16. What is the most important key element a leader should have?

"There are some most important key element that a leader should have" said Mr. Murugan.
There are good communication skills, Knowing about your employees, learn from failure,
confident, creativity and so on. A good leader will take the time to find out which
communication style and method (text, e-mail, phone or in-person) work best for the team
member. By communicating with team, The manager can build trust, rapport and a culture of
shared accountability.

17. How do you handle negative feedback from customers ?

“The most important part of addressing negative feedback is to actively listen before I engage

in conversation. Before I can engage in a positive conversation I have to step back and make

sure that I am taking the time to fully understand what’s being said. It can be difficult to
understand someone else’s perspective, especially if I don’t agree with what they’re saying.

When I take the time to explore the bigger picture, it helps me gain a better understanding of

the scenario so I can view the feedback through the proper lens. It can be extremely difficult

to provide someone with negative feedback so it’s important to be patient and understanding

until they have finished voicing their concerns. Before I can respond to negative feedback, I

have to actively listen and engage intently in the conversation.”

18. Do you have any criteria in recruiting you workers or everyone have possibility to join
your company likes older people or hidden abilities people?

“Yes, I have some specific criteria in recruiting my team members. Skills and their
verification are usually mandatory selection criteria because if the candidate doesn't have the
skill, he can't do the work. I can determine what software skills the candidate needs by
examining the work required and identifying the programs my company uses in that context.
Candidate qualifications represent a set of criteria that are critical for the success of the
employee and are easy to verify. A high school or college degree helps guarantees a level of
education with solid written and oral communication abilities. A technical degree may come
with professional qualifications. A postgraduate degree is required for some specialties. Only
specify educational qualifications if I can identify specific tasks that require the level of
education. A candidate's experience shows how he has applied his education and skills and
lets me evaluate more general selection criteria.”

INDIVIDUAL DIFFERENCES

19. What quality you have that make you different from others?

I have some quality that make me different from others. I will support collaboration at every
opportunity and mitigate toxic behavior and unhealthy competition. Companies that
encourage teamwork enjoy improved efficiency, work outcomes, and individual
development. I am trustworthy, and I respect confidentiality. Employees also need to be
assured that my management is telling them the truth. My trustworthiness is built on
respecting the privacy of my employees and offering honest advice based on what aligns best
with my company’s goals. I will communicate with my employees in ways that make them
comfortable. Communication doesn’t only happen face-to-face, it happens via email, chat
applications, body language, and much more.

21. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Mr.Murugan want to make his Lemurian Solution Company as franchise business in 5 years.
