5. Explainthe procedures of amending the Indian Constitution.
Ans : There are three procedures of amendment .

III) Special majority with Ratification : For Sensitive Bill.

1. Describe the composition & contribution of the Constituent Assembly of
India.
Ans : The composition & contribution of the Constituent Assembly of India
are :
a) Composition:
I) It was set up under the Mount Batten Plan of 1946.
II) There were 389 members out of them 292 were from Legislative
Assemblies & 93 were from Princely states & 4 were from Chief
Commissioner Provinces.
III) There were 15female members & 374 male members.
b) Contribution: They framed unique & detailed constitution for the India
within 2 years 11 months & 18 days.

2. Describe any five salient features of the Indian Constitution.


Ans : Five salient features of the Indian Constitution are :
i) Written Constitution: It was drafted &enacted by the Constituent
Assembly.
ii) The Lengthiest Constitution : It is a detailed Constitution
III) Federal System: Administrative powers have been decentralized &
subjects are divided between the Union Govt. & State Govt.
IV) Independent & Integrated Judiciary: Judiciary is an independent &
equally available for all.
V) Parliamentary Form of Govt : All decisions taken through democratic
system .
3. Mention any five purposes which the Constitution of India serves towards
strengthening democracy.
Ans : Five purposes for strengthening democracy are :
I) Political System: It tells about the political system in the country.
II) Ideals : It also tells ideals of the country for the citizens of the country
III) National Interest: it protects our national interest.
IV) Decision Making: It provides guidelines for helping in the decision
making.
V) Basic Structure: The basic structure cannot be easily changed.
4. India is Sovereign, Socialist, Secular, democratic, republic.
Ans : Sovereign: India is free from external controls & interference.
Socialist: Socialism is one of the national goals.
Secular: All religions enjoy equal freedom.
Democratic: Our Govt. is elected by the people and all decions taken by the
govt in a democratic way.
Republic: The head of nation i.e. President an elected head from amongst
the people.
5. Why do some people say that India is a federation with unitary features?
Explain with the help of any five constitutional provisions.
Ans : Five Constitutional provisions are :
Federation: It divides powers between the centre & the State.
Judiciary: There is an independent judiciary which solves all disputes &
protects constitution.
Unitary State: The Central govt. is so powerful.
Election commission: there is an independent body which is responsible for
conducting election all levels.
