Mock Interview Reflection

Directions: Review the Mock Interview Critique Form completed by your teacher. Use
the results to reflect on your experience by answering the questions below.
1. What steps did you take to prepare for the mock interview?
I reviewed all of the notes I took on the Edgenuity videos and reviewed my research on my
desired career. Preparing this way helped me during the interview to be detailed with my
answers/responses.

2. How did you feel while you were being interviewed?

I felt nervous at the very beginning of the interview since this was the very first “interview”
I’ve ever had. However, I started getting more comfortable as time went on and viewed it as
a normal conversation.

3. Reflect on your actual responses. Did you feel your responses were adequate or could you
have done better? Explain.
I believe I could have expanded more on certain questions. I noticed that I was repetitive
and just reworded what I was trying to say. To prepare for this in the future, I can look
over more frequently-asked questions for interviews so I have an idea as to what to say
when a question may arise.

4. What questions do you feel you answered well? Explain.

The question I believe I answered the best was, “What is one failure you endured and how
did you overcome it?” I explained how a past experience of me teaching a client went
wrong and how it helped me expand my teaching skills. Using this experience as the answer
showed the employer how determined I am to find another way when something is wrong.

5. What questions do you feel you could have answered better? How would you have
answered them differently?
The question I struggled to answer was, “What are your future career goals?” I haven’t
thought about the specific steps I need to take in order to continue to grow in this career
and it showed when I was hesitant to answer the question. I think the way I responded
made the employer question whether or not I was ready to take on this job since I didn’t
have clear goals to achieve in the near future.
6. What areas did your teacher mark as strengths?
For the body language section, my teacher commented that I was confident throughout the
interview, sat with good posture, and remained calm the whole time. In addition, she
mentioned how well I was able to circle back to examples I mentioned previously to expand
on answers for different questions asked.

7. What areas did your teacher mark as needing improvement? In what ways do you plan to
improve your performance in these areas?

In the “CLOSING THE INTERVIEW” section, my teacher marked that I didn’t speak
about the timeframe and next actions that need to be taken to continue for this job. To
correct this mistake, I plan on reaching out to the employer and mentioning this in a
follow-up email.
