Lab Report #1
Objective:
Our first laboratory experiment required us to first learn all safety measures and to also
learn how to use the AC/DC power supply. When dealing with high voltage power sources,
safety is the most important factor. For this experiment, we were to learn the tools we work
with and how to safely operate them. With electrical sources, shocks can occur if safety rules
are disregarded and some shocks, specifically ones that contain over 100 mill amperes of
current, can be fatal.
The main piece of equipment used in this experiment is the AC/DC Power Supply
Module EMS 8821. It provides all of the necessary AC/DC power, both fixed and variable, single
phase and three-phase. Using the AC/DC power supply module, we were to run several
experiments to give us an understanding of how the power supply module functions. When
using the power supply, safety is the main concern so each connection should be done with the
power turned off.
Equipment:

Experimental Procedure:
1. First we had to examine the construction of the Power Supply module EMS 8821. See
Figure 1, which contains the
list of components we had
to identify.
3. Insert the Power Supply Module into the console. Make sure that
on-off switch is in the off position and that the output control
knob is turned fully counterclockwise for a minimum output.
Insert the power cable, through the clearance hole in the rear of
