General Impression:
Dr. Jose Rizal had many talents in his time. With his talent he helped a lot people those who
are in need. He is truly talented and a gifted person. However, there are also people who doesn’t
believed in him and accuse him and that leads to his death.

1. According to various Philippine presidents, the overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) are
the present day heroes? Using the criteria presented in this reading, are they worthy of
being called heroes? Justify your answers.
- Yes, because they are brave and is willing to sacrifice themselves just for the
better lives of their families. And I am proud of the OFW workers who bears the
longing and just work to have money and give to their families.
2. Compose your own criteria of a “HERO”.
1. Analyze the issues and interests that were upheld to push the Rizal Law. Are these issues
still valuable at present?
- Back in the 1950s, the Philippines, much like Today, was dominated by the
religious sector. Today, these issues between the government and the religious
sector have been more prevalent than ever. Although this time, it’s not just the
Catholic Religion that has stake in government affairs.
2. What is your personal stand regarding the approval of the “Rizal Law”? What is the
relevance of this law in our nation building?
- I think it is right to consider implementing Rizal Law because it gave us the
chance to look back at the sacrifices of our national hero Jose Rizal and bring
back the fire of nationalism that is gradually fading today.

This event was the execution of our national hero Dr. Jose Rizal in Bagumbayan, now
called Luneta, in Manila on December 30, 1896. His death meant much more for us, Filipinos.
He gave up his life for his country and for the Filipinos. Because of this, it drew up the
nationalism and pride from most Filipinos.
Exercise 3. As a Filipino, how will you also protect and defend your country? Illustrate and
discuss your answer. (10pts)
As a Filipino, I will continue to fight for the rights of every Filipino and I will
continue to study hard so that in the near future I will be able to protect and defend our
country and voice out what needs to be done to have a peaceful community and country.
