LESSON 1: A REVIEW OF EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY 1

The world is transforming with lightning speed since digital technology has really taken
off. And as technology advances, so does its use in education. A once typical classroom
characterized by students sitting through hour-long delivery of lectures has been gradually
changing. Technological devices and even Internet have become almost inescapable and has
finely blended with our lives, exercising an influence on most of school activities.
Since, mostly of the Generation Z learners are already tech-savvy as digital
technologies continue to propel higher education forward, future educators plays pivotal role to
better promote information literacy in K-12 students. Hence, it is essential for a future educator
to undergo courses in relation to technology.
Educational technology 1 is one of the courses designed for students pursuing licensure
in elementary and secondary education to prepare them on their teaching; where they are
equipped with skills, knowledge and concepts and to integrate technology in their lessons
enhancing learning and making more effective. As stated in the course outline, the main focus
of this course is for the learners to become more familiar, more oriented, more aware, and to
become adept in learning through the use of technology.
On my experience, this course has afforded me with a wealth of knowledge on the
various tools I can use in the classroom to create meaningful learning experiences. I had the
opportunity to become an expert on, not only using technology efficiently in the classroom with
presentational purposes, but also develop my own educational interactive activities which brings
more fun and engaging discussion between my co-students. In this regard, I have notice
students become more motivated when using technology. Apart from it, I have also learned in
EdTech 1 that despite of fears and pernicious effects the technology can bring, these
technological tools are a big help in learning only if teachers orient and remind students to
responsibly use it. Indeed that a student’s ability to successfully use these gadgets increases
with guidance and explicit instruction.
Overall as the world continues its march to progress, the new generation of Filipino
learners come ready to work with these new technologies, which play an important role in
student's learning and acquiring various cognitive knowledge. As future educators, what we
have grasp in EdTech 1 will necessarily help us be efficient on technology manipulation and
integrate these with ease in pedagogically sound ways making learning fun, engaging and
effective.

LESSON 2: AN OVERVIEW: EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY 2

Educational Technology 2 is a sequent of the subject EdTech 1. EdTech 2 is

much more concerned with the integration of technology to teaching and learning
process. But this is not to say that the goal of this course is to promote computer skills
rather aims to infuse technology on the student and teachers helping them to meet and
adapt to rapid and continuing technological changes.
“To be able to teach, one must learn first.”

It is true that one must learn first before a person can efficiently and effectively
share his/her knowledge and expertise to others. Moreover, learners today are into
technology and fond of exploring, so future teachers need to incorporate technology
during instruction to get the appeal and attention of the students, for them to enjoy the
lesson and participate in class.
For this reason, this lesson provides recapitulation of the whole course.
Students of this course will able to learn, and deeply understand computer functions in
teaching and learning as well enhancing and acquiring skills through hands on
application.
I believe with this course, learners will able know how to manipulate this
computer applications such as Microsoft Office and other digital devices to successfully
carry out technology integration as concerned by EdTech 2; making classroom
experiences more interactive and productive. Moreover, EdTech 2 helps aspiring
teachers to be familiar with computer activity and enhance computer skills necessary
for delivering content to students by using different tools of modern technology.
Technology can also be a gateway to the vast realms of creativity for students, allowing
them to participate in activities that they never would have dreamed possible.
Undeniably, these computer applications make both teacher and student works easier.
For instance, Microsoft Powerpoint for slide presentations of reports, outputs and even
demonstration as well as using Microsoft Excel to compute the grades of students.
. Personally, the very core point of this lesson is that in present time teachers
can easily get the students’ attention when using more interactive technologies in
delivering lessons than using the traditional method. Therefore, this made me come to
think that as future educators one must become more creative and flexible in this 21st
century through updating themselves with the new trends of technology and using
digital tools in teaching for meaningful learning.
