integers integers

2.2 OPERATION OF INTEGERS

Example :
1. 5 + ( -7 ) = 5 – 7 = -2
2. (-3 ) + 10 = -3 + 10 = 4
3. ( -2 ) + ( -4 ) = -2 – 4 = -6
4. 7 – ( -3 ) = 7 + 3 = 10
5. ( -3 ) – 4 = -7
6. (-4 ) – ( -6 ) = -4 + 6 = 2
7. 9 x ( -2 ) = - 18
8. ( -3 ) x 4 = 4 x ( -3 ) = -12
9. ( -6 ) x ( -7 ) = - [( 5 x ( -6 )] = - ( -30 ) = 30
10. 15 : ( -3 ) = -5
11. (-20 ) : 4 = 5
12. ( -45 ) : ( -9 )) = 5

2.3 ORDER OF OPERATIONS

Example :
-7 + 32 x ( 5 – 7 )
= -7 + 32 x ( -2 )...........................brackets
= -7 + 9 x ( -2 ).............................powers
= -7 + ( -18 ).................................. x and :
= -25............................................... + and –
